Chapter 44 - Chapter 44: Ren: Just a Tiny Bit

"So this is Kuoh Academy…"

It was Ren's first time visiting Kuoh Academy. Even though he lived in Kuoh Town, he rarely came here. So far, he had been focused on his own affairs.

Even when he had some spare time, he didn't really go out much—probably due to his habits as a shut-in from his previous life.

Back when he was a shut-in, there weren't any girls around him, but he had his own forms of entertainment.

Now that he had transmigrated, with beautiful girls around him every day, Ren had even less reason to go out.

Asia, standing beside him, looked at the passersby with slight nervousness and asked,

"Is this where Rias-neesan goes to school?"

"That's right… though we'll probably need someone to guide us to see her."

This time, Ren had purposely brought Asia along.

Asia and Rias had a good relationship. Ever since Asia had been sent to Ren, Rias hadn't had the time to visit due to what happened afterward. So, Ren simply decided to bring Asia to her instead.

At that moment, Kuroka, lying in Ren's arms, let out a yawn.

"By the way, Asia, how have you been getting along with Lucemon?"

Ren asked curiously, glancing at her.

As a devout nun, Asia should naturally feel close to Lucemon, a literal angel.

Indeed, after meeting Lucemon, Asia had shown nothing but reverence.

She even wanted to chat with Lucemon, but unfortunately, Lucemon had been busy picking fights with strong opponents, leaving Asia with little time to talk with her.

Still, Lucemon hadn't completely ignored her.

"Miss Lucemon is very kind. She even said, 'If only you were an angel,' hehe…"

Being praised by an angel made Asia genuinely happy.

But upon hearing her words, Kuroka nearly fell off Ren's shoulder.

Did I hear that right… Kind? Come on! That word doesn't fit that angel at all.

You've never seen her toying with her enemies. She's more like a devil than a saint.

Then again, Ren did say she was originally the Demon King Lucifer, so technically calling her a devil isn't wrong.

"Who knows? Maybe one day Lucemon really will grant you power and make you into an angel."

"How could that be… Miss Lucemon is an angel, and I was…"

"Lucemon's not the type to care about that stuff!"

Ren tapped Asia's head lightly—more of a gentle pat than anything.

To be honest, Ren didn't really believe Lucemon could make Asia into an angel. But just because it wasn't possible now didn't mean it would never be.

After all, the current powers and status of the Three Archangels had all come from Lucemon.

Power sharing between Digimon was simple and crude—since they were all data lifeforms. Back in the fourth generation, Lucemon absorbed the data of Dynasmon and LordKnightmon to evolve into her fallen form.

So for Digimon, absorbing power was easy.

But the real world wasn't that simple. You couldn't just beat someone and take their power, nor could you just transmit data to give someone a power boost.

That's why Ren thought the chances of Lucemon turning Asia into an angel were slim.

They just lacked the necessary technology...

As soon as Ren and Asia stepped onto Kuoh Academy's grounds, they immediately drew attention.

Neither of them were the kind of people who blended into a crowd.

Ren's presence and Asia's charm made them impossible to ignore.

As expected, whispers started around them.

But then—

Ren suddenly noticed the mood shift. People looked startled and quickly scattered.

What followed was a calm yet powerful set of footsteps approaching.

Without even looking, Ren already knew who it was. The aura of magic gave it all away.

And at this moment, only one person could appear.

"Miss Sona, we meet again. But here, I should probably say, President Sona, right?"

"You're too polite, Mr. Ren."

Sure enough, it was the intelligent and graceful Sona, with her ever-present shadow, Tsubaki.

Wherever Sona appeared, Tsubaki was never far behind.

Hearing Ren's words, Sona nodded slightly, her expression respectful.

While Kuoh Academy usually barred outsiders, that rule didn't apply to people like Ren.

Sona didn't say much, nor did she question his reason for coming. She simply assumed the role of a guide.

"What brings you to Kuoh Academy today, Mr. Ren?"

As she led the way, Sona asked politely.

Ren pulled out a set of manga from who-knows-where, his face full of amusement.

"Didn't I mention magical girl manga to your sister before? I'm here to give it to her."

"So soon?"

Sona's mouth twitched slightly.

"I'm not a professional manga artist, so I may have used a few 'shortcuts.'"

Hearing that, Sona couldn't help showing an exasperated expression.

To think someone so powerful would use that power… to draw manga.

"And, I've got something to ask of Rias and the others. Are they here now?"

"Of course. Please follow me. But… Mr. Ren, about that manga…"

"What? You want to read it?"

"No no no no—!"

Sona frantically waved her hands.

"It's just… you know, my sister is a Maou. Magical girls…"

Her expression turned awkward.

In that moment, Ren instantly understood and smirked.

He patted her on the shoulder and leaned in a little closer.

Even Sona couldn't help blushing, though she did her best to stay calm.

"Heh… I get it. Don't worry. Once your sister reads this manga, she might develop a lifelong trauma toward magical girls…"

This manga was created using Kuroka's illusion magic, so the immersion was slightly… overwhelming.

Once Serafall completely immerses herself in the experience from start to finish… heh…

Just a tiny bit.
