Chapter 10
"Questioning"
In a quiet atmosphere, Adrian, who was fainted by something incomprehensible and devoid of explanation. Or likely, by his painful headache. As his weak eyes slowly caught orange light that pierced through the windows of his room, Adrian gently whimpered and softly opened his eyes.
He held his head tenderly, trying to remember what just happened. As he fully recovered, Adrian's attention was immediately caught by the strange book he had found earlier—a look of horror both with questions.
Soon his gaze fixed on the orange light, realizing the sun was about to set in. Furthermore, Adrian's mind became clearer after the agonizing headache. He thought for a few seconds, and then muttered as he tightly grabbed onto the cozy sheet…
"It's already evening?... That headache is truly an eldritch nightmare…." Adrian weakly whispered, he then tried to stand, although his body slightly trembled.
He slowly walked toward the windows, his steps seemed fragile and weak. Afterwards, with a little strength, he drew the blue-curtains down and closed the windows.
Adrian then went back to his bed, sitting on the soft mattress and contemplating in silence. He grabbed the terrifying book and put it into the bedside table's drawer, until an idea crossed his mind and immediately hooked his curiosity.
Hm?... That book is so strange, I went into an unknown place after chanting possibly an ancient prayer? So weird…. Adrian thought, lightly questioning the book.
I think I must meet Thyatis and show him what I've found… that's a good idea. Thyatis might know about that book! Adrian withdrew his right hand, putting his two fingers below his chin while considering the idea.
Okay… I've already decided to bring that book to Thyatis, maybe tomorrow. Adrian grinned, leaning back onto his bed with a smile.
Until his excitement was disturbed by a sound of knocking on the door. He immediately glanced at the door, he then responded to the knock aloud, "Come on in!"
A maid then went in, she tenderly stated to Adrian in a respectful way, "Sir Cadeyrn, Princess Rosey is awaiting you in the dining room along with the others."
Adrian then simply replied to the maid, followed with a smile, "Say to Rosey that I'll be there in a few moments, let me take a shower."
The maid quietly nodded, she then stepped out of Adrian's room and gently closed the door.
Adrian then right away and excitedly went into his bathroom, towel was at hand and soon accelerated his steps.
…
Afterwards, Adrian wore his usual outfit. After all was ready, Adrian stepped and went to the door. He gently twisted the handle, and quickly moved toward the dining room.
His steps echoed through the hallway, while looking at the busy maids as usual. As he stepped in, Rosey, who was sitting on her chair zealously called Adrian to come over.
"Cadeyrn! Come over here!" Rosey shouted, waving at him with a smile.
As Adrian sat on his chair with the help of a gentle maid, he observantly gazed at Rosey, Ludwig, and the others while they were talking passionately.
The conversation was pertaining to the diplomacy between Afflueth Kingdom and Volmorg Kingdom, but this time, it is more frequent.
"I can't wait to see the delegates from the Volmorg Kingdom to come! I think we should prepare the best greeting for our guests!" Rosey excitedly spoke, her words flowed in the air with enthusiasm.
"Certainly, we'll do our best to greet them. What kind of host if we didn't welcome our own visitors." King Conrad simply replied, followed by him sipping his glass of extracted Petrioth fruits.
Soon Queen Elizabeth intervened in the discussion, and responded to both of them, "It would be great to establish a relationship between the Volmorg Kingdom."
As laughter echoed through the room, only Adrian remained silent, he attentively enjoyed his well-grade food. He laughed a few times to follow the flow, with him uncovering much information only from the conversation.
…
Afterwards, he tried to embolden himself and tried to ask. He hesitated for a moment, before finally landing questions toward King Conrad, "Father, can I ask you a question?"
King Conrad immediately locked his golden-eyes toward Adrian, he gently replied to the young prince, "What kind of question, son?"
"Do you know where Thyatis lives? I would like to see him!" Adrian replied, acting as Cadeyrn once more.
"Hm? A sudden question… you would like to meet him? Well, it's great to know." King Conrad responded, leaning forward, withdrawing his both hands and crossing all his fingers.
"You are usually trying to avoid Thyatis, but now, you wish to see that great man!" King Conrad added, leaning backward and looking at Adrian with a smile.
"Well, I will give you his location." King Conrad simply added, sipping his glass once again.
…
After a while, Adrian obtained the exact location of Thyatis' home. However, King Conrad also offered him a guard to accompany the prince in order to successfully make it to Thyatis' home.
"Son, would you like a companion?" King Conrad offered, glancing at Adrian in worry.
Adrian hesitated, before eventually replying to the exalted king, "I'll go by myself, I will not go astray. I've been journeying through this kingdom, Father!"
Rosey looked at Adrian in concern, she adjusted her glasses before softly speaking, "Cadeyrn… are you sure about that?"
Seeing Rosey, who was worrying about him, Adrian then self-confidently replied to her and tried to assure her, "Don't worry about me, Rosey. I'm sure I will make it."
"So confident, I bet you'll go astray." Ludwig murmured, playing with his index finger. His words made Adrian and Rosey stare at him with a flat face.
"What? Am I wrong?"
…
After dinner, Adrian immediately went to his chamber, he was so happy today like the previous day. He twisted the door's handle and closed the door softly. Furthermore, he leaned onto his bed and smiled at the ceiling.
"Goodnight myself… this dream is not that bad, I guess. I don't know if this is truly afterlife or not." Adrian mumbled. Adrian yawned and soon his vision began to fade. Afterwards, Adrian was dragged into dreams, sleeping in peace.
…
In the morning, when the sun was rising in the east. When the birds were singing, peaceful harmony vanquished that morning.
Adrian woke up, the warmth of the sun instantly piercing his soft skin. Adrian rubbed his eyes, yawned once again and immediately went into the bathroom.
Afterwards, Adrian stood before his wardrobe, he still wore his usual outfit. However, today, he wore a red scarf around his neck. He tried to adorn his appearance, trying to gain positive attention. He also wore a shoulder-bag, containing the strange book inside.
After all was ready, the charming prince stood before the door. He then twisted the handle and took a few steps forward. Yet, before he was able to turn around and close the door. Someone was calling his name, and their voice was close…
"Cadeyrn!"
Adrian was snapped, he immediately looked at his right side. He glared at Lymus, a little prince and the youngest son of King Conrad. His innocence stood still, and his curiosity was indefinite.
"Where are you going?... Can I go with you?" Lymus asked, his face was full of excitement.
Adrian soon replied with concern, a pure concern, "I'm going somewhere, and you can't go with me. It's too dangerous for you…."
Shit… I don't know this boy's name. Adrian looked at Lymus, the little prince was a little upset by Adrian's answer.
"Oh… so I can't go with you?..." Lymus asked, showing his tiny pupils with a somber face and soon bowing his head.
Adrian felt guilty when glanced at Lymus, his little heart might be broken after he answered that. He felt pity for the boy.
Seeing Lymus was about to turn back and leave, Adrian immediately spoke, "Okay… you can go with me, but only this time."
The boy's somber face soon turned into a happy face, he immediately ran toward Adrian and hugged him.
The hug reminded him about someone. With that, a sudden old memory flashed in Adrian's mind. His cheeks twitched both with his lips.
"Cadeyrn? Are you okay?" Lymus asked curiously.
Snapped by Lymus' question, Adrian immediately replied to him, "Oh! I-I'm okay! Let's go on an adventure!"
"Let's go!" Lymus excitedly declared, mimicking Adrian.
…
As Adrian and Lymus went toward the southern gate, of course, a few guards immediately stopped them.
"Where are you going, Sir Cadeyrn?" one of the guards asked, all guards' attention was drawn to Lymus.
"You brought Lymus with you? Isn't that dangerous?" Another guard questioned.
Lymus? So this boy named Lymus… noted. Adrian looked at Lymus with his golden-eyes, before turning his gaze at the guards once again.
Adrian then simply answered, "Um… I didn't bring Lymus here, he wants to go with me."
The guards glared at Lymus, the little prince could only nod with a smile, assuring the guards.
"Forgive us, child. You can't get out of here, it's too endangering." One of the guards uttered.
Lymus looked down in upset, Adrian looking at him in pity. Until Adrian found an idea that perhaps may allow Lymus to journey around.
"Wait! I have an offer…" Adrian fixed his eyes at the guards, the knights were curious about his offer.
One of the guards then asked gently, "What is the offer, Sir Cadeyrn?"
"Okay… Here is my offer: one or two knights will observe and follow us from behind, and you must try to blend in, or whatever. How's 'bout that?"
"The offer is quite acceptable… we don't know about that, but if you insist, then we'll try as possible." Another guard responded, quite amazed by the offer.
The guards could only sighed, and opened the gate. As Adrian and Lymus stepped out, they immediately walked toward Molov Street, located on the southern side.
…
Through Molov Street, all the people were gathering there and doing their activities. Merchants, children, and the others.
As Adrian and Lymus walked through the street, the attention of many people was instantly drawn to them. Adrian's appearance was rather… enchanting. A few people were surprised that Lymus got outside with Cadeyrn.
Adrian then stopped, he then pulled out a guide map from the pocket of his pants. Lymus curiously looked at him, he also tried to look at the map. He also took a note from King Conrad.
"After going through Molov Street, then turn right… you will find South 1st Phemus St, and then go ahead until you find a house with a sign titled with Thyatis' name." Adrian mumbled, looking at the note seriously.
As Adrian once again continued his seeking with Lymus, confusion then brought him to the brink. Baffled, he then tried to ask strangers and hoped they would help him.
Adrian then immediately asked one of the strangers, "Excuse me, sir… do you know where Thyatis live?"
The kind stranger soon responded at Adrian's question, "Thyatis? Oh! He lives there, in that house with an emerald-colored roof."
Adrian glared at the house, he then gratefully replied, "Thank you, Mr…"
Adrian paused, but then he found his name-calling attached on his chest, and added, "Mr. Vaetoris! Thank you so much!"
The young stranger who had blackish hair, a blue-colored eyes as the ocean, then replied gently, "You're welcome!"
Afterwards, Adrian and Lymus then stood before Thyatis' house. His place was quite peaceful. Adrian then knocked on the door, looking at the door with a smile. And so, an answer perhaps would await him inside.
