Chapter 18 - Goodnight

Chapter 18

"Goodnight"

Adrian and Nairda soon arrived at the Nairda's house that was mentioned by him prior, the house was rather a mansion!

The mansion's imposing size, its ashen walls blended with the grounds, and the trees that surrounded the very grandeur mansion were making Adrian marveled at the mansion.

Adrian gulped and stunned by what he saw. Nairda was a kind of wealthy boy who was grown up in a rich family of course, different to Adrian's old life who was just an ordinary young man, although now he was transmigrated as a young prince.

"Welcome to Hovor Grand Mansion! You can take a look as you want!" Nairda declared, his voice was rather loud in tone.

Adrian nodded quietly, still impressed by the immense size of the mansion, and perhaps equaled to the Afflueth Kingdom's palace's size.

Woah! This is… I don't know what to say, but… this is so massive! Adrian examined the mansion wholly, from the windows to the exteriors of the majestic housing.

After a few looks, Nairda then said to Adrian that they needed to go inside before the chilling wind froze their body.

"Cadeyrn, let's go inside, it's getting cold here!"

Adrian nodded his head in approval, looking at Nairda who was pointing with his right hand at two doors of the mansion.

Nairda walked toward the doors followed by Adrian behind, in a simple and easy pull, Nairda opened the doors with a smile across his face. Indicating that he was happy with Adrian's presence!

As the doors fully opened, it revealed a hallway with a few white chandeliers attached to the ceiling, emitting white lights. There was also gray carpet, and few paintings that were alien to Adrian.

Adrian stepped inside with Nairda behind him who tried to close the opening of the mansion, Adrian could only look at the boy who was able to close the doors afterwards.

Nairda then continued to walk through the quiet and somehow… eerie hallway. Adrian was only able to follow after, inspecting the paintings that caught his attention. Indeed, it was all foreign to him, with questions piling up in his mind too.

"Nairda, what are those paintings? It seems quite foreign to me," Adrian heavily asked Nairda with a low tone, and maybe what he truly feared was the absurdity of this world.

"Ah! Those are paintings drawn by a famous artist! My father commissioned a few of them and placed them in this hallway and other rooms!" Nairda explained with a friendly voice, not trying to scare Adrian and lose his very friend.

Adrian then once again nodded at him as he tried to ward away the eerie feeling he had now, following Nairda with a full of anticipation.

Soon they arrived at the center of the mansion, it was utterly luxurious although the colors were only white, gray, and perhaps black; grayscale.

Adrian's eyes were locked at two curved stairs that led to a second floor of this grandeur housing, also beneath and between the stairs there was an opening that led to a living room of this mansion.

He also saw a giant chandelier, hanging above him and emitting white lights. On the floor, there was a giant carpet with unique patterns that looked like stars and galaxies merged as one depiction.

While Adrian sternly observed every detail of this room and fell into questioning of how rich Nairda was, eventually his imagination was snapped away with Nairda snapping his fingers near his right ear.

Adrian came to realization, looking at Nairda with rather embarrassment feeling that he was busy with his observation without knowing Nairda was there!

"Ah! I'm glad to know that you're amused with the interior of this house!" Nairda said to Adrian with a gentle smile, before signaling him to follow himself again.

"Hehe… your house is so majestic!" Adrian responded with a faint smile, looking at Nairda before he smiled back to himself.

After the awkward situation that was swept away like leaves by wind, Nairda soon guided Adrian to the left stair with their steps echoing in the room.

Until they arrived and stood before a wooden door with a sign hanging at the door, but it had no name on it, denoting that the room was empty.

Strange… What's the use of this sign if there's no name on it? If this room is empty, then there should be no sign at the door… Adrian contemplated with an odd feeling, it traveled across his head like a train.

However, while Adrian fell into deep thought, Nairda suddenly turned his body to Adrian with eyes looking at him with peculiarity.

Before he said, "Cadeyrn, this is the key for this room, you could use the room for resting and sleeping!"

Nairda handed him an ashen key, Adrian carefully examined the key's detail for information that may help him to put off the strange feeling he had. It was an ordinary key, of course, nothing special.

"Ah!... Thank you for all of this… you're a kind person, Nairda!" Adrian blurted out, with him curled his lips into a pure smile.

"Well, I'll leave you here because I have work to do… so yeah, if you need something, just call my name!" Nairda said to Adrian, before leaving him alone in there.

With Nairda leaving him in a pure silence, Adrian turned his gaze at the door, slowly inserting the key into the door handle. Before eventually twisting the handle, and opened the door.

It revealed a well-heeled room's interior: on the right side, there was a bed with a gray sheet along with a wooden table on the left side of the bed.

Adrian also saw a cupboard on the left close to the ashen wall corner—it also had a mirror. There was a chandelier on the ceiling, illuminating the room with lights and abolishing spots for darkness to rest.

He too found two windows, allowing him to take a view from the room—and also with curtains!

After a few moments of observation, Adrian then closed the door behind him and went to the gray mattress, before ultimately landing on the bed with a weary feeling across his body.

"I don't know if this night or not… but I would say goodnight for today… Huh, what a tired feeling."
