Earth, West City.
Inside the gravity training chamber, Vegeta was deep in intense, sweat-drenched training. The entire room glowed red, warning alarms blaring without pause.
"Warning, warning! Current gravity level has reached maximum!" "Warning, warning! Current gravity level has reached maximum!"
…
But no matter how long the alarm shrieked, Vegeta didn't ease up for a single second. He kept dodging the lasers, his body moving with flawless precision.
He was still the same Vegeta, always pushing himself through the fiercest, most punishing training imaginable. The reason was simple: he desperately wanted to shatter his limits and surpass even Super Saiyan 4.
Suddenly, a laser shot straight toward him. Vegeta's body dropped low in an instant. His back arched gracefully, twisting and spinning with sharp control, moving as though the overwhelming gravity were nothing but a light breeze.
And yet, despite all his effort, his power had barely budged.
"It's not enough… still far from enough!"
Enraged, Vegeta threw a single punch, shattering the laser emitter into pieces. When the dust settled, he collapsed heavily onto the ground.
His eyes stared blankly up at the ceiling as deep thoughts ran through his mind. He was training relentlessly for one goal: to reach the form his son Trunks had attained: Super Saiyan 4 Boundary Breakthrough.
For days, he had been waiting for a useful thought through his "heart-voice" connection with his son, hoping for a clue on how to achieve that transformation. But recently, Trunks had been spending all his time training with Master Roshi, and the mental link rarely yielded anything useful, mostly just mundane complaints.
He had thought about directly asking Trunks how to achieve the form… But as a father, his pride absolutely forbade it. After all, his son's strength in that form had already far surpassed his own. For Vegeta to beg his own child for advice on getting stronger, it was a humiliation he couldn't bear.
With a furious growl, Vegeta slammed his fist into the floor.
BOOM!
"Damn it! How the hell do I break through to that red-haired Super Saiyan 4 form?!"
The entire Capsule Corporation trembled three times from the impact. Bulma, long accustomed to such outbursts, didn't even bother scolding him this time.
Vegeta's roar echoed throughout West City, and it caught the attention of someone unexpected.
A small figure appeared at the door of the gravity chamber, none other than Super Mini Cell.
"Hey, Boss's dad! You're talking about the Super Saiyan 4 Boundary Breakthrough form, right?" The tiny Cell strutted inside, crouched beside Vegeta, and continued cheerfully: "Boss said he'd been meaning to tell you, but he's been off training with Grandpa Roshi lately. He probably just forgot!"
"If you want to know, I can tell you instead!"
Super Mini Cell's words hit Vegeta like a bolt of pleasant surprise. He flipped upright in a single, fluid motion, barely containing his excitement.
"You really know?! Trunks told you himself?"
With a smug grin, Super Mini Cell declared proudly: "Of course I do! Boss only managed to reach that form thanks to me!"
And with that, Super Mini Cell began explaining to Vegeta the principles behind the Boundary Breakthrough form…
After listening to Super Mini Cell's explanation, Vegeta muttered in disbelief, "A form that combines Super Saiyan 4 with the aura of a Super Saiyan God…?"
He recalled the time when Trunks' energy had completely vanished during that transformation, and suddenly realized the truth. That must have been the divine aura of a Super Saiyan God. Back then, Vegeta hadn't paid much attention to it, since the pure Super Saiyan God form didn't look as powerful as Super Saiyan 4.

Vegeta could no longer contain his excitement. So this God form was meant to serve as the foundation for the Boundary Breakthrough state! That means I need to first achieve the Super Saiyan God form.
If I remember correctly, the legend Trunks mentioned said that five righteous-hearted Saiyans must pour their inner power into another righteous Saiyan…
He faintly remembered, Trunks had used the power of the five Mini Cells to reach that form. Vegeta's gaze fell upon the singular Super Mini Cell.
Super Mini Cell instantly understood what was on his mind. "Boss's dad," he said, "we five have already fused together. If you want to separate us, you'll have to ask the Boss himself."
For the sake of pride, Vegeta immediately decided to find another way.
"Hmm… there are already two Saiyans here, that makes things easier. Just need four more."
Just as Vegeta was about to step out and find the others, three familiar energy signatures entered his mind. Out in the courtyard, four silhouettes appeared before him.
Vegeta's heart leapt with satisfaction. Heh, perfect timing. Now we can make up the six we need.
Vegeta flew out of the gravity chamber.
There he saw Son Goku holding Pan, while Bulla and Son Goten were nearby in the yard.
"Vegeta, no training today?" Goku asked with a grin.
The moment Pan saw Super Mini Cell, she wriggled free from Goku's arms, laughing as the two little ones began to play together.
Goku chuckled. "Hehe, Vegeta, Gohan and Videl have been busy, so Chi-Chi's been taking care of Pan. But she wouldn't stop crying about wanting to play with Super Mini Cell, so we came along."
Bulla walked up to her father and said, "Dad, Goten said he wants to train with you for a while, he wants to combine your training style with Uncle Goku's."
Goten nodded eagerly in agreement.
Goku laughed again. "Haha, Vegeta, sorry to trouble you then!"
Vegeta nodded slightly, then said in a low voice, "So… you all want to become stronger? I have a better way."
He then explained the whole concept of the Super Saiyan God form, and the Boundary Breakthrough transformation.
"That's how it works. But remember, you have to master the Super Saiyan 4 form completely before you can reach Boundary Breakthrough. Now then… let's begin the God ritual."
"I'll go first," Vegeta volunteered immediately.
Goku scratched his head. "Eh? Why do you get to go first, Vegeta?"
"Can't I?" Vegeta huffed coldly. "It's not like you won't get a turn. Quit talking and grab my hand already."
…
A few minutes later, Vegeta successfully achieved the Super Saiyan God form.
Soon after, Goku, Bulla, and Goten each transformed as well.
Pan, however, was still too young to attain divine Ki. As for Super Mini Cell, his mixed bloodline was far too complicated, and he couldn't achieve godhood either.
Goku, not wanting Gohan to miss out, used Instant Transmission to bring him over, and Gohan, too, reached the form.
From that point on…
Super Saiyan Gods were everywhere.
