You don't truly know the depth of a catastrophe until you look into the abyss.
When the Elder Kaiōshin cast his trembling gaze into the crystal ball, he was so shocked that his jaw locked open.
The vision within the mystical sphere showed the Earth warriors engaged in a devastating all-out fight against Beerus.
The Elder Kaiōshin's eyes bulged so wide that they seemed ready to detach; his mouth gaped wide enough to swallow a senzu bean whole. He had never conceived of a scenario in which those mortals would intersect with Beerus, let alone clash with him in such a terrifying, planet-shaking manner.
When had Beerus finally stirred from his long slumber? And what twisted fate had driven him to this violent confrontation?
Countless useless questions hammered his mind, but only one thing mattered now: 'How to stop this battle'.
If a God of Destruction so much as sneezed with intent, entire clusters of star systems could be erased from existence instantly.
"Such folly...such sacrilege!" The Elder Kaiōshin cried, lifting his hands in helpless despair.
Shin and Kibito, sensing the sudden shift in the cosmic atmosphere, crept closer, their eyes locked on the deeply troubled expression of the Elder Kaiōshin.
"Honored Elder, what has happened?" Kibito whispered, confused. "What could possibly trouble you so?"
Before he could finish, the entire Kaiō God Realm lurched and shuddered violently, and it was as if the sacred land's very foundations were about to crack apart.
This sudden quake was no coincidence.
Shin and Kibito exchanged a panicked glance and rushed to the side of the Elder Kaiōshin.
And then they saw the cause.
The figures generating the catastrophic shockwaves were displayed within the Crystal Ball.
"It is... Son Goku San and the others!" Shin exclaimed, his voice tight with dread. "They're fighting with everything they've got!"
"Damn that purple-skinned glutton!" Kibito snarled, pointing an angry finger at Beerus's image inside the sphere. "He is the source of all this chaos!"
BAM!
The Elder Kaiōshin's fist suddenly collided with the top of Kibito's head, causing an enormous, angry red lump to instantly swell beneath the Supreme Kai's hat.
"Oww! What was that for, Elder?!" Kibito clutched his injury and stared in utter bewilderment.
Shin was equally stunned. He had clearly heard Kibito insult the strange purple figure, so why did the Elder react so violently?
"Honored Elder," Shin finally managed to ask, his voice strained. "What is happening? Your expression is terrifying."
The elder Kaiōshin's face was as dark as the oppressive sky before a world-ending storm. His brows were deeply furrowed, and his lips trembled as he struggled to hold back a torrent of emotion and fear.
After a long, heavy silence, he finally spoke, revealing the unforgettable, agonizing truth burned into his soul. It was Beerus, the God of Destruction and an overwhelmingly powerful being, who had sealed him inside the Z Sword long ago.
He began to explain the true, terrifying nature of the Gods of Destruction to his young successors.
But just as he began, the Crystal Ball emitted another disturbing flash.
With Goku and the others' combined, desperate effort, the colossal energy sphere they were pushing against began to shift backward, but only for the briefest of moments.
Then, the sphere froze in the heavens.
The concentrated energy began to fracture, and the scattering particles spread outward, raining across the cosmos like luminous dust.
...
Planet M2
Trunks, having just finished cleaning up the last of the battle, stood listening as Frieza recounted everything that had transpired.
Only then did Trunks fully grasp that Baby was the true architect of this chaos. He was surprised to learn that Baby still existed in this timeline.
Then again, he mused, if Super Broly and Z Broly can coexist, then the appearance of a boss from the GT era, like Baby, isn't really that strange.
From the moment Tagoma was first possessed until Frieza delivered the killing blow, Trunks had felt a creeping suspicion, it was as if Baby had suddenly become incompetent. A creature as cunning and patient as the Tuffle parasite would never die so easily.
Trunks placed a hand on his chin and stepped up to the alien despot.
"Are you absolutely certain you killed Tagoma?"
Frieza stood straighter, visibly irritated by the implication.
"Show some respect, son of Vegeta. What sort of question is that? I saw through that fool's scheme and exposed him. Of course I wouldn't allow him to escape." He narrowed his eyes as he asked back. "Are you doubting me?"
While it was impressive that Frieza noticed Tagoma wasn't himself, he knew little of Baby. Trunks, however, knew the sneaky parasite all too well.
Trunks replied calmly, "How could I possibly doubt the great King Frieza?"
"However, the Tuffle race is notoriously devious. I am convinced that entity would not be defeated so easily. You saw for yourself that their hatred runs deep. Those creatures we just fought were all Tuffle technology created for one purpose: to get revenge on the Saiyans."
Trunks' gaze hardened. "If Baby isn't dead, he'll come back for revenge. The targets of that revenge will not only be us Saiyans; you will be included as well, King Frieza."
Frieza scoffed dismissively. "Heh. Just a Tuffle. If I could kill him once, I can kill him twice."
Despite his bravado, Frieza was already making plans internally. One by one, everyone continued to surpass him. Even his Golden Form was no longer enough to keep him as Emperor of the Universe.
But he still held the Two-Star Dragon Ball. That meant that his next wish was no longer going to be something as simple as 'growing taller.'
"Suit yourself," Trunks replied. "I was only offering a sincere warning." He paused and looked Frieza up and down. "By the way, it's been a while. You look a bit...different." Trunks subtly gestured between Frieza's height and his own shoulder. "Taller, perhaps?"
Trunks knew the answer was the Dragon Balls, of course, but teasing was irresistible.
"Tch. Our race simply develops again after reaching a certain age. I have merely reached that new stage." Frieza turned sharply, ready to leave.
Trunks chuckled softly. There was no need to expose the tyrant's insecurity further. After Frieza vanished, Trunks walked over to Super Broly, who was quietly watching Z Broly leave.
"Let's go, Broly. Your brother won't change, not yet. He'll understand in time."
With that, Trunks concentrated, preparing to use Instant Transmission to return to Earth.
But the next second, his mind went utterly blank.
He couldn't sense a single flicker of ki from Earth. It was as if the entire planet had been completely obscured or simply ceased to exist.
Had something happened to Earth?!
