A pair of immense, thick, and surprisingly warm hands settled gently on the backs of Son Goku and Vegeta.

In that instant, the two Saiyans felt a profound, almost mystical energy surge from behind and pour into their exhausted bodies.

A soft, comforting, emerald light erupted, washing over their skin like a spring current.

It instantly began to soothe and mend every grievous wound they had sustained. But this miraculous blessing was not reserved only for Goku and Vegeta.

Bulla, Son Goten, Gohan, and the others nearby were also bathed in the vibrant, life-affirming glow.

In the blink of an eye, the heavily injured and utterly depleted group felt their bodies restored to perfect fighting condition.

"Bu... Buu?"

Witnessing this incredibly familiar sensation, Bulla was overwhelmed with confusion.

She had experienced this feeling countless times before, that warm, profound sense of healing could only belong to one being:

Majin Buu.

Instinctively, Bulla spun around, her eyes wide as she stared at a face that was both familiar and startlingly strange. She was certain she had seen it before, but she couldn't remember where.

Just then, a cry of pure shock rang out from her right.

"Grand Kaioshin?!" Gohan shouted.

The sound shattered Bulla's confusion.

The being before them wasn't Majin Buu, it was the Grand Kaioshin, a figure who had made a brief, enigmatic appearance in the future timeline once before.

The mysterious deity who had been absorbed by Majin Buu had actually emerged once more. Below them, Super Little Cell, whose jaw had been slack with confusion, finally understood after hearing Gohan's shout.

"Oh... so that's what happened," he murmured, the sudden realization hitting him.

It explained Majin Buu's sudden and inexplicable use of Instant Transmission. But it raised a far more perplexing question for Super Little Cell.

How was this "Grand Kaioshin" capable of simply leaving Majin Buu's body?

Super Little Cell stared, dumbfounded.

Vegeta and Goku had the same reaction.

Although they had traveled to the future together, Majin Buu had already fallen into a deep slumber in that timeline.

The two Saiyans fixed their gaze on the Grand Kaioshin. They had never met him before. All they knew was the legend that he had been absorbed long ago.

They had never imagined that someone consumed by Buu could simply reappear.

Anyone who could accomplish such a feat was clearly no ordinary being.

...

The Kaioshin Realm

Kibito and Shin were so overwhelmed that they were speechless.

Supreme Kai Shin was especially affected; his eyes welled with tears as long-buried memories surged back like a tidal wave.

Through the scrying crystal, he saw the divine being who had sacrificed himself to save him once again...

The Grand Kaioshin.

"L-Lord... Grand Kaioshin!" Shin collapsed onto the ground, openly sobbing.

The Elder Kai gave him a sharp glare.

"Why are you blubbering like a hatchling, boy? When I was freed from that ridiculous Z-Sword, where was all this crying, huh?"

Shin scrambled back to his feet and hastily wiped his eyes.

"Sorry, Elder. I'm just too emotional. I don't know what Lord Grand Kaioshin plans to do now."

Elder Kai scrutinized the Grand Kaioshin projected in the crystal ball.

From his aura alone, the chubby figure radiated immeasurable divine power.

If he hadn't been absorbed, Shin wouldn't have ended up so weak that he couldn't even properly wield the Z-Sword.

With a sigh, Elder Kai's interest peaked. He waited to see how this legendary predecessor would handle the God of Destruction.

Although the Grand Kaioshin had healed them, the massive energy sphere continued to expand under Beerus's frightening power.

Vegeta and the others cried out again; the pressure was unbearable.

"Damn it! It's no use! My arms are completely seized!" Vegeta roared.

A moment later, Goku called out, "V–Vegeta… let's fuse!"

To them, this enemy was truly unprecedented.

Vegeta had considered this possibility before, but his pride kept him from speaking up. After all, Gogeta's immense power had made a deep impression on him after their last fusion.

Beerus's strength far exceeded anything they could have predicted. Even Gohan, in his ultimate form, had been unable to challenge Beerus.

If they wanted to survive, if he wanted to protect his wife, Bulma then there was only one path left:

Fusion.

"Blast it! Kakarot, my hands are stuck! We can't get the forms right for the technique. As long as this energy sphere keeps growing, we'll never get the chance!"

"If we let go, that energy sphere will definitely..."

Vegeta's reasoning was irrefutable. Goku had no counterargument.

Yet, for Gohan, hearing Vegeta agree so readily to fuse came as a shock and a surge of hope.

He had witnessed Gogeta's overwhelming might. If his father and Vegeta fused now, then surely... they could win!

"Leave this to us! Dad! I'm fully recovered!" With a fierce roar, Gohan flared his aura and transformed instantly into his incandescent beast form.

The Grand Kaioshin was profoundly moved, watching these mortals give their all. Beerus was merely "doing his job," but these warriors had saved the universe countless times.

He knew the God of Destruction was terrifying.

But his heart wavered. Earth and these selfless warriors must not be destroyed.

He had heard their desperate plan. Slowly, he turned toward Beerus, shifting his demeanor from healer to supplicant.

Then, he bowed deeply in a gesture of profound respect.

"Lord Beerus, greetings. Do you still remember me?"

Beerus stared at the being before him, sensing an undeniable divine energy. But in his millennia of memory, there was no such person.

He frowned, his mind racing, and unconsciously, the hand feeding energy into the sphere loosened its grip.
