Chapter 2 - First Iteration [2]

"Humanity lost? How? Lucan was ridiculously strong, and the others, too. Fuck, now I've got nowhere to escape to. Guess I just have to kill all of those Fuckers myself." I thought to myself.

"Now come. No more questions, mortal", the leader of the Voidbornes told me.

The four beings turned around and began walking towards the hole in the wall. I slowly followed them, already collecting Mana in my hands to cast a spell.

"It will be easier if I kill all four of them at once. What spell should I use? I don't think Void Magic affects them. In that case..." I thought to myself.

"Infinite Shadows", I shouted, unleashing my magic.

Suddenly, an infinitely dark fog began appearing around me and captured the Voidbornes in it, impeding their sight.

At the same time, I cast another spell.

"Daggers from Darkness", I muttered.

Suddenly, two daggers made out of pure shadow appeared in my hand, more solid than steel and lighter than air.

A smile appeared on my face as I said to myself, "I'm back."

I took my daggers and leapt in the direction of the nearest Voidborne, who was beginning to turn around.

Just as his head turned in my direction, a dagger pierced through his body, and I continued to the next one.

This one, the leader Voidborne, already locked onto me, seeing faint traces of my mana even through the fog.

Seeing this, I decided to use a strong attack of Daggerfall, my Dagger technique, called Speedster's Trick.

I sped up to speeds faster than the eyes could perceive, and I threw myself right in front of the Voidborne.

It instinctively stepped back, dodging my attack, but it did not know this was all a feint. Because suddenly I was behind the Voidborne and slashed its neck, but I wasn't able to pierce it, only mangle some of its "flesh".

This was because it managed to pull forward its neck at the last moment.

Just as its claws were about to hit my head, I threw myself forward purely on instinct. Dodging its attack, I considered how I could counter it.

"Just fighting it isn't smart, looking at its insane strength. Maybe I could use that..."

As I was finishing the thought, the Voidborne began to speak.

"So you decided to turn on the void. I knew it would be like this, but the Voidfather and the lesser ones also believed in you. How dare you disappoint us, mortal! Your death shall be the punishment for your sin."

Suddenly, immense pressure began to weigh down on me.

"So it decided to use Void Magic. But why? It shouldn't be able to use Supreme Magic, so why does it think it would damage me?"

Looking at the Voidborne through the smoke, I could see its face contorting eerily, as if it were smiling.

Then suddenly, I remembered.

"Shit, there are two more! How could I forget?!"

Two claws and two projectiles came at me from behind, but I managed to leap into the air in the last moment, but it was already too late.

A projectile, some sort of arrow to be precise, scraped my arm and ripped through the flesh.

A burning sensation arose in the area, and I quickly looked at it while repositioning myself to be able to see all of my enemies.

"That's not good. It doesn't hurt, but I lost some blood, and my muscles are torn through. I won't be able to move as quickly now."

Scowling, I looked at one of the Higher Voidbornes and prepared my Mana for a spell.

"Shadowy Counterpart" was the spell I cast. It created a near-perfect copy of the Voidborne, and it immediately lunged at the leader of the Voidbornes to keep it distracted while I fought off the two others.

"Petty tricks!" the leader exclaimed, but he had no other choice but to defend against the attacks of the shadow.

The other two Voidbornes were already running towards me, but I dodged at the last moment and was able to cut off the arm of one of the Voidbornes.

Instantly after, its claw was coming towards me with astonishing speed, but I just activated [Ruler's Will], slowing it down and giving me a chance to counter.

[Ruler's Will] [A+]

Skill gained from Skill selection. Allows you to enact your will on anyone who venerates you or has immense respect. Does not work on beings with a higher rank than you. Can be used as a mental attack even against higher beings.

While it was waking up from its temporary stupor, I managed to stab my dagger through the Mana Core of the Voidborne, and it immediately died.

I couldn't rest just yet, as the other Voidborne had been preparing a spell which he now launched at me.

It was like a wave of Void energy coming straight towards my head, and I was sure I wouldn't survive it if it hit me.

Seeing this, I used another trick from Daggerfall, and I practically teleported behind the Voidborne and slashed its throat, ensuring its demise.

I turned towards the leader Voidborne, just as it gave my shadow the last hit.

"Resilient thing you created there, Mortal. But it matters not. You shall die like the rest of your kind!", it shouted angrily.

It looked at me with such sheer bloodlust that even I couldn't help but shiver a bit.

Using this chance, it came at me so fast that I couldn't even follow it.

I manage to dodge at the last moment, not allowing its claw to pierce my heart. Instead, it pierced part of my upper abdomen, and I cried out in pain.

Rolling on the ground, I unsummoned one of my daggers and held the wound, preventing blood from exiting my body.

"Ah, fuck. You're different from all the Voidbornes. What are you?" I asked, rising.

I could see no emotion on its hollow face, but it responded, "Why should I answer your question, foolish mortal?" and got ready for the next clash.

I did the same, still clutching at my body, but I still took my dagger and waited for his attack.

Suddenly, my [Foresight] triggered, and I could see the Voidborne stand behind me with its claw piercing through my heart.

Knowing this, I waited for a few seconds until I could feel the ripples in space behind me.

I turned around as fast as I could and swung my dagger, decapitating the Voidborne.

As its head fell to the ground, I sat on the ground and began to meditate. Or at least I tried to...
