"Danzo, do you even know what you're doing?!"
Jiraiya's furious roar echoed across the square. He could hardly believe Danzo would go this far — to commit open treason against Konoha itself.
Around him, the situation was dire. Thousands of shinobi already surrounded them, and more were pouring in by the second. The sheer sight of so many ninja made Jiraiya's scalp tingle. Even a Kage would struggle against such overwhelming numbers.
"Jiraiya! Enough talking — kill that shameless snake!"
Tsunade's teeth ground audibly. Her anger was volcanic. Danzo had always craved power, but now he had gone beyond all reason — trying to assassinate her grandfather and seize control of the village he had founded.
Didn't anyone understand what kind of man Danzo Shimura truly was? Under his rule, Konoha would crumble from within.
"The victor decides the truth. There's no need for words. Everyone — attack!"
Danzo's expression hardened. His ambition had long devoured whatever conscience remained. Since he had chosen this path, there was no need to hide it anymore.
He — Danzo Shimura — would become Hokage.
"Danzo, you despicable fool… I truly underestimated you."
The Second Hokage, Senju Tobirama, let out a cold, contemptuous laugh. Despite the chaos, his composure didn't waver — though the fury burning in his heart was boundless.
The moment Danzo's order rang out, a storm of ninjutsu surged toward them. Even Jiraiya wasn't spared. Fireballs, shuriken, and chakra blasts filled the sky.
Jiraiya gritted his teeth. Had Danzo completely lost his mind to ambition?
Danzo had allied himself with the major clans — the Shimura, Mitokado, Sarutobi, Utatane, and Hyūga families — and had even brought Hyūga Hiashi under his control. Together, their forces numbered in the thousands.
Scanning the battlefield, Jiraiya's sharp eyes noticed familiar crests. There were even some civilian shinobi among them — loyal to Danzo, or perhaps brainwashed.
"Seems Shikaku was smart enough to stay out of this mess…" Jiraiya muttered to himself.
Tsunade, however, didn't hesitate. She surged forward like a force of nature.
Her mastery of Chakra Enhanced Strength made her destructive power terrifying.
Boom!!!
The barrage of ninjutsu hurled at her was obliterated by a single chakra-laced punch. Her fist crashed into the ground with devastating force — several attackers were sent flying, their screams lost in the explosion.
"Ah—! Pfft!"
Blood sprayed across the rubble. A nearby building collapsed from the shockwave. The fallen shinobi wore Shimura clan insignia.
Jiraiya glanced once, then sighed. "Shimura… figures."
"Tsunade! Don't be so reckless!"
He called out, but his voice was drowned by battle. They had planned for Tsunade to take up the mantle of Hokage — yet now it had come to this.
Jiraiya's heart still belonged to Konoha. He didn't want civil war to consume the village.
Only Tobirama truly understood the situation: Konoha could no longer tolerate them. Danzo had gathered this army through coercion and deceit, and now he would not stop until the three of them were dead.
A massive Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique surged toward Tsunade. She shattered it with a single blow, but the coordinated follow-up attacks kept coming — perfectly timed combinations from Konoha's elite.
As flames filled the air, a torrent of Water Release surged forth, quenching the inferno in an instant.
"Grandfather!"
Tsunade's eyes brightened, and she leapt to Tobirama's side.
"Grandfather, what's happening?!" she demanded.
"It's simple," Tobirama replied coldly.
"Danzo has coveted the Hokage's seat for years. But I never thought he'd stoop to murdering his own master to get it."
Before he could finish, a roaring Wind Release: Vacuum Great Sphere tore through the air. Tobirama deflected it, but his movements were slower than in his prime. Even with his vast chakra reserves, he was being worn down by the relentless waves of attackers.
Meanwhile, Tsunade fought like a storm. With every strike, the earth cracked beneath her feet. Around her, a vacuum zone formed — no one dared approach her directly.
Earth Release users began manipulating the terrain, raising walls and pitfalls to slow her down.
It only enraged her further.
"Chakra Enhanced Strength: Heavenly Foot of Pain!"
She flipped high into the air and came down with a thunderous kick. The impact shook the ground like an earthquake, creating a massive crater and instantly crushing dozens of enemies.
Tsunade's eyes blazed. She showed no mercy toward the Shimura loyalists.
"Danzo! Do you want to destroy Konoha itself?!"
She glared up at him — the man standing arrogantly atop the high platform, surrounded by his Root shinobi.
Danzo's face twisted with conviction.
"Without you, Konoha will prosper under my rule! You are the obstacles holding this village back!"
In his mind, only he could save Konoha. The others were relics of a bygone era. Once he became Hokage and mastered Edo Tensei, Konoha would rise to dominate the Five Great Nations once more.
"Ridiculous! Konoha in your hands would be nothing but ash!"
Tsunade snarled and charged directly at him.
Danzo's Root operatives moved to intercept — but Danzo raised a hand.
"Let her come," he said coldly.
The Root shinobi stopped in their tracks.
And Tsunade, fury incarnate, rushed toward the man who dared call himself Konoha's savior.
Danzo raised one hand, his fingers weaving through a rapid series of hand seals.
"Wind Release: Vacuum Great Sphere!"
Almost instantly, another jutsu followed —
"Wind Release: Wind Blade!"
The twin techniques tore through the air with a shrill whistle.
Tsunade shifted her weight at the last moment, dodging the Vacuum Great Sphere by a hair's breadth. But the following Wind Blade grazed her arm — its cutting edge slicing open her sleeve and drawing a thin line of blood.
The sting made her frown. An A-rank Wind Release technique carried terrifying sharpness; few could withstand its bite.
Wind Release, by nature, was the most precise and lethal of the elemental styles — and the Wind Blade Technique concentrated that power into a razor of condensed chakra, capable of slicing through steel.
Tsunade glanced at the shallow wound on her arm. Blood trickled down her skin, glinting red beneath the sunlight. She gave a sharp, disdainful laugh.
"Heh… I really underestimated you, Danzo."
Her muscles tensed. A moment later, she vanished.
Boom!!!
A massive shockwave erupted where she had stood, leaving behind a crater several meters wide. Dust swirled violently as Tsunade reappeared beside Danzo, her fist already raised.
Danzo's eyes widened.
"So fast!"
He barely had time to react. His hands moved instinctively to block—
Crack! Crack!!
The sound of bones shattering echoed through the battlefield. Danzo's forearm twisted unnaturally, crushed under the sheer force of Tsunade's chakra-enhanced strike.
Even for a hardened war veteran like him, the pain was excruciating.
A short distance away, Senju Tobirama flickered across the field using the Flying Thunder God Technique, teleporting between marked kunai and cutting down enemy shinobi in clean, efficient motions.
However, some among the Konoha forces had begun adapting — predicting Tobirama's patterns and setting traps to intercept his jumps.
Danzo tumbled across the ground, rolling several times before he finally rose, panting, his face twisted in fury.
He glared at Tsunade, hatred burning in his single visible eye.
And from the shadowed eaves of a nearby rooftop, a faint chuckle echoed.
A dark figure emerged from the wall itself — Black Zetsu.
"Fight… fight harder." Zetsu's grin spread wider.
"Danzo, you're just the kind of chaos the Shinobi World needs."
In all his centuries of scheming, few men had embodied the darkness of human ambition like Danzo Shimura. A man driven by paranoia, by conviction — and by a belief that only through control could peace exist.
If Danzo took command of Konoha, the world would surely burn again… and that would serve Zetsu's designs perfectly.
Down below, Danzo's face contorted with grim resolve. His breathing steadied as he gathered chakra.
"Tsunade… since it's come to this, one of us will die here!"
He slammed both hands onto the ground.
"Wood Release: Cutting Sprigs Technique!"
Dozens—then hundreds—of sharpened wooden spears erupted from the earth, surging toward Tsunade like a forest of deadly stakes.
Her eyes narrowed. She leapt into the air, flipping through the assault with precision and speed that belied her size.
Though Danzo's Wood Release lacked the power of the true Senju bloodline — a crude imitation born from Hashirama's stolen cells — it was still potent enough to kill.
Even Tsunade didn't dare take those strikes head-on.
Her movements blurred, weaving through the hail of sharpened branches as the battlefield trembled under the clash of two legacies — one of blood, and one of stolen power.
