Chapter Excerpt:

The wind stirred, brushing against the crumbling stone walls of the temple. Vines, think and ancient, snaked up from the ground to the highest towers, seemingly in reverence to something that no longer walked the earth. The sun hung low in the sky, casting long shadows that seemed to dance with the rhythm of time itself

Inside the temple, a figure lay on an altar of polished obsidian. The air was still--except for the faintest of pulses, like the heartbeat of a long-forgotten god. Her name past life.

Lara's eyes fluttered open, the first time in what felt like an eternity. Her body, still a perfect vessel, betrayed nothing of the passage of millennia. In her chast, something ancient stirred, like the dormant flame of a once-raing fire now awakened.

For a moment, the weight of existence crashed upon her--memories, flashes, lifetime intertwined with endless cycle of death and rebirth. She had lived many lives, had know many faces, but she had never once known peace.

The last thing she remembered... he had died. The immortal, the one who had bound her soul to his--she had watched him fall, his body shattering into stardust.

Her heart ached at the thought of his name.

"l' m back."

The word were almost awhisper, but they carried the weight of a thousand years. She lifted herself off the alter, her fingers brushing against the ancient carvings etched into the stone around her.

"You've returned," a voice spoke, echoing from the shadows. It was neither male nor female old nor young. It simply was.

Lyra turned sharply, her golden eyes glowing with an intensity that pierced through the gloom. Standing at the temple's entrance was a figure cloaked in dark robes, their face hidden by a hood.

"Who are you?" Lyra demanded, her voice cool but tinged with the remnants of confusion. She didn't know if she was ready to confront the mysteries of her own soul, much less the one before her.

The figure stepped forward, and the faint light revealed their features--a pale face, sharp cheekbones, and eyes like twin moons. They were ageless, yet there was something deeply other about them.

"I am the keeper of Time, " the figure said , their voice vibrating through her very core.,"l have watched you in every life, every death. And I' waited for your return, Lyra, the Immortal Rebron".

Lara's mind buzzed. The keeper's words were like a shackle clamping around her. "I remember you", she said, her tone hardening

"You wouldn't. Not yet."

The keeper's from shifted, and in the blink of an eye, they were standing before her, their eyes now locked onto hers. "You are one of the few who can remember. Few souls are granted this gift. The first time you died, you were merely human. The second time... you became something more. And the third? You became immortal."

Lyra staggered back, the memories crashing into her like a flood. His face flashed before her--the immortal whose touch had woven her soul into eternity Kieran, she remembered. His name had tasted like bittersweet honey on her lips.

"what happened to him?" Lyra whispered, barely able to breathe.

The keeper's gaze softens. "He fell, Lyra. But you... have always risen."

A chill ran through her. "And now I'm here. Why?"

The keeper's voice dropped, becoming heavy with urgency. "Because the world is dying A new cycle begins, but the forces that govern time are unraveling. You are the only one who can set things right."

Lara's golden eyes narrowed as she clenched as she clenched her first, the power of past lives flickering theough her veins. Set things right? She had no desire for another battle, another endless cycle of Let me know what you think or if you'd like to change the direction
