"Traptrix Trap Hole Nightmare?"
Anneli stared at Morgan's Set card, flipping open, dread flooding her. If it activated now, that meant her effect had triggered its condition—but she didn't yet know what that condition was.
Isla closed her eyes, unwilling to watch Anneli's fate. Traptrix relied on "Hole" and "Trap Hole" cards to stop opponents' combos. Without them, half its power was gone. Dark and nasty, sure, but that was Morgan's nature. HERO Decks were a temporary phase. This was the real Morgan.
Rowe's face twisted. She'd been blown out by Traptrix more times than she could count… usually by Trap Hole Nightmare or Bottomless Trap Hole. She knew exactly how Anneli felt. She herself had packed backrow removal, but Arachnocampa's protection made it useless. Her Aroma Deck couldn't touch Traptrix now.
The chat erupted with spam. Everyone knew this scene too well.
Morgan was still the Underworld girl.
"I said from the start—her Sets always mean something shady."
"New viewers are confused, old ones just type 'familiar.'"
"No matter the Deck, Morgan's Duels always smell the same."
"I was there—I had it worse than the streamer."
Fans were thrown back a year, remembering Morgan's arrogant speech at the award ceremony. And with her identity now confirmed, word of mouth spread fast. Anneli's stream shot to the top of the site. The manager instantly pushed it to the front page, promoting it everywhere.
Anneli's following skyrocketed—thousands turning to hundreds of thousands. If she saw, she'd be stunned. Even top streamers never gained this fast.
But she couldn't check. From the moment Morgan's Trap flipped, she knew she'd stepped into it.
"I activate Traptrix Trap Hole Nightmare!"
"When a monster Special Summoned this turn activates its effect: Negate and destroy it!"
Anneli froze. Now she understood—she'd been caught from the start. Live☆Twin monsters, apart from the starters, were all Special Summoned and triggered effects immediately. Morgan had targeted that weakness perfectly.
It was a trap Anneli couldn't avoid. Stopping her combo would have meant conceding. Continuing gave Morgan her chance.
She lost, and lost hard.
A hole opened under Evil★Twins Ki-sikil & Lil-la. Swarms of insects dragged them into the darkness. An explosion rang out. The monster was destroyed.
Anneli steadied herself. Her Life Points were untouched, and she had resources left. And Morgan's Trap Hole Nightmare was gone. Maybe she could—
Suddenly, then Morgan shouted:
"I activate Traptrix Sera!"
"When a Normal Trap is activated: Special Summon 1 'Traptrix' monster from your Deck, with a different name from those you control."
"I Special Summon Traptrix Dionaea!"
A girl with black twin-tails tied with flytraps appeared, clutching a blue slime.
[Traptrix Dionaea] Level 4│1700 ATK / 1100 DEF
Morgan summoned her for one reason: Trap recursion. She'd already maxed out Trap Hole Nightmare at three, but still wanted it back. Against Live☆Twins, it was gold.
"I activate Dionaea's effect!"
"When Special Summoned: Target 1 'Hole' Normal Trap in your Graveyard; Set it to your field."
"I Set Traptrix Trap Hole Nightmare again!"
"…"
Anneli turned speechless.
Morgan had reset the very card she'd just spent everything on to clear. How was she supposed to play?
Her cheeks puffed angrily. After that move, she was locked again. Even if she summoned, she couldn't activate effects.
Morgan smiled sunnily. Dionaea's Set would normally banish itself at the End Phase, but with Traptrix Mantis, she could return and reset it endlessly.
Chat roared with laughter.
"LMAO, she really Set the same card back in front of her opponent!"
"Streamer's brain is fried. Doesn't know what to do."
"She can come to me, I'll show her the ropes."
"Shut up, perv, before I snap your ahh!"
Anneli bit her lip, eyes clearing. She remembered her Deck wasn't helpless—she had outs for backrow.
"I activate Quick-Play Spell: Live☆Twin Home!"
"Discard 1 card; Special Summon 1 'Ki-sikil' or 'Lil-la' monster from your Deck."
"I Special Summon Live☆Twin Ki-sikil Frost!"
A new Ki-sikil appeared, dressed in frosted white with a candy-cane hat and pink trim. Its effect wouldn't trigger Traps immediately—a safer play.
Yet, Anneli wasn't done.
"I flip my Set: Evil★Twin Present!"
"If you control both a 'Ki-sikil' and a 'Lil-la': Target 1 Set Spell/Trap your opponent controls; shuffle it into the Deck."
"I return your Traptrix Trap Hole Nightmare!"
She shouted it with relief. Finally, payback.
Morgan's Trap returned to her Deck. Right then, she instantly revealed another card.
"In response, I activate Trap Trick!"
"Banish 1 Normal Trap from your Deck; Set 1 card with the same name directly from your Deck."
"I banish Trap Hole Nightmare to Set another copy!"
Anneli gaped. She'd just gotten rid of it… and it was back.
She wanted to cry.
Chat sympathized. "Poor streamer, toyed with like this."
"She's doing well. Pros cried harder."
"Drop me an address, I'll go comfort her. Got eighteen ways to do it."
"Wait… that background looks like Duel Academy Senior Division!"
Recognition spread. Students realized the scenery, confirming Morgan's presence. Hype surged even higher.
Anneli, biting her lip, tried again. She activated Live☆Twin Lil-la Treat from her hand, a devilish zombie-costumed Twin.
[Live☆Twin Lil-la Treat] Level 2│500 ATK / 0 DEF
"Link Summon! Evil★Twin Ki-sikil!"
The red Twin returned. Anneli skipped its effect and went straight to the Battle Phase.
"Battle! Evil★Twin Ki-sikil attacks Traptrix Sera!"
Ki-sikil's 1100 ATK easily overpowered Sera's 800.
Sera exploded—
—but when the smoke cleared, Sera still stood.
"What?!"
Anneli was stunned. Did Sera have battle protection, too?
Morgan smiled. "Thanks to Traptrip Garden, each Traptrix monster is protected from battle destruction once per turn."
Anneli's face fell. She hadn't expected that.
"You still take battle damage, though."
Morgan's LP dropped by 300. Small, but added to Sunny's Snitch, the damage piled up.
Anneli ended with two Sets: Evil★Twin Challenge and another Trap. She hoped to find an opening.
Isla, watching, was impressed that Anneli had found a sliver of hope under pressure. Still, Morgan's second Set was Trap Trick itself—an angle Anneli hadn't foreseen.
Her odds were slim. Without destroying Sera, Morgan's engine would restart next turn, Traps flooding the field.
As Isla's phone buzzed with news—Anneli's stream was now the top broadcast in the country—she realized Morgan's fame hadn't dimmed. If anything, it was stronger. Sponsorships were already incoming.
Anneli, distracted by phone vibrations, peeked. Her inbox was flooding with messages about Morgan. Official contracts offered top-tier deals. Her followers had soared into the millions. Donations poured in.
She looked up at Morgan, stunned. All of this… was because of her.
Morgan had known from the start.
Ignoring her, before she could speak, Morgan declared her turn.
"My turn, draw!"
