Chapter 18 - Chapter 18 I Am Your Dog!

Inside the church:

Kael seemed to have sensed something. He closed the Bible in his hand, turned his face sideways, smiled, and said to Ginny next to him:

"Be ready. They're coming to pick us up."

Ginny, surprised by Kael's words, turned bright red. She panicked, pulled her white vest over herself, straightened up, and asked:

"W‑what's happening? Brother Kael, who's coming?"

As soon as she finished speaking, footsteps echoed from the church door.

Spandine suddenly appeared just outside the door. He held out a hand to stop Babs and the others, whispering:

"Okay, don't go inside. Don't disturb that adult!"

Babs grew increasingly curious and couldn't help asking:

"Mr. Spandine, are you absolutely sure the person you're looking for is Kael? I don't mean to be rude, but it seems likely this person ate a Devil Fruit and is connected to King Beckley's disappearance. I'm concerned..."

Spandine stared at him coldly, lowering his voice as he said:

"I told you not to address this gentleman by name! Let me warn you: if you offend this man if he speaks just one word forget about being put aside, even I would be erased from this world!"

Babs's impression of Spandine had always been one of lawlessness and domination.

But now, seeing how afraid she was of just the name, Babs tried to imagine the past of this young man named Kael and how he managed to stay in this small country called Solbei.

Babs fell silent and ordered the Marine behind him to stay right where he was.

Spandine spit into his hands, slicked back his hair, adjusted his clothes, adopted a flattering expression, straightened his posture, and entered the church alone.

In the nave, Kael and Ginny were seated on a pew. As Spandine entered, he saw their backs.

He didn't dare speak but slowly walked toward the edge of the bench and asked with a smile:

"Hello. Master Kael is that you?"

Kael rose from the pew. His calm composure subtly let Spandine realize this was indeed the man he sought.

"I am Kael. Uncle Shanks must have sent you, right? Your name is… Spandine?"

Upon hearing "Uncle Shanks," Spandine grew so excited that he bowed even deeper, as if about to prostrate himself.

"Yes, yes! Forgive me, Master Kael, evil Spandine, I beg your pardon for my earlier insult. It is truly an honor to meet you!"

Spandine had climbed to his current position by knowing whom to respect. He knew very well who ruled this world.

Some time ago he received a message from the Marines, and he would never forget that magnificent voice through the Den-Den Mushi the voice of Saint Figarland Shanks!

Here was the Figarland family the Celestial Dragon within the Celestial Dragons and Figarland Shamroc (Shanks). Hearing the name choked him with awe.

When Shanks tasked him with bringing Kael, he nearly went mad with excitement.

Even a little connection to the Figarland line could elevate his status to a new dimension.

Moreover, the person he was sent for was Shanks's nephew! Even though he had never met Kael, Kael's place in his heart now felt closer than his biological father.

Berro and Ivan, hearing the voice, stepped out of the room. At the sight of Spandine, they grasped the situation: World Government agents had arrived!

A sad look appeared in Ivan's eyes he knew it was time for their paths with Kael to diverge.

Spandine dared not meet Kael's gaze and bowed deeply. His humility made Ginny click her tongue in surprise.

It was also the first time Ginny intuitively realized how honored Kael's status truly was. A high-ranking World Government official treated him with such courtesy.

Kael looked toward the door and asked:

"There are many people outside why didn't you all enter together?"

"Master Kael, Lord Shanks said you would prefer that your identity remain unknown to too many people so I did not bring them inside!"

Kael nodded in approval:

"Excellent judgment."

Receiving Kael's praise, Spandine felt a wave of relief wash over him and immediately pounded his chest:

"Do not worry, Lord Kael! Lord Shanks has told me that if you ever face any troubles in the future, I will take care of them. You are my lord! I am your dog!"

These were not words ordinary people would ever say and Ginny beside them was stunned silent.

Kael's lip twitched, he coughed twice, and said:

"Alright. Now let the others come in."

"Yes! At your command!"

"Stop don't put the title 'Master' before my name, especially not in front of Marines."

"Understood!"

Spandine had now become a completely loyal dog and ran outside to inform the others.

Ginny sighed after he left:

"He's really… a strange man!"

Kael smiled and said:

"You'll meet more people like him in the future get used to it now."

After a while, Spandine, Babs, and other Marine nobles entered.

They stared at Kael in admiration. It seemed Spandine had spoken to them about him outside.

Their surprise was that Kael was younger than expected and yet exuded a hint of danger.

It showed that the one in front of them wasn't weaker they might actually be weaker than him!

Kael saw the military rank on Babs's shoulder and walked toward him.

Seeing Kael approach one step at a time, Babs felt his heart tighten and his body tense reflexively.

But as Kael reached him and spoke, Babs grew confused:

"Hello, my name is Kael. My friends and I would like to join Marineford."

Spandine, seeing Babs still silent, stamped his foot and cursed that fool silently.

He pushed Babs harshly but Spandine was so weak he nearly fell. This angered Spandine further and in a harsh tone he said:

"Rear Admiral Babs! Mister Kael is talking to you be courteous!"
