Chapter 173 - Chapter 173: The Wedding

The following day was bright and pleasant, carefully chosen by Shizhi Uchiha as an auspicious date. Under her personal supervision and witnessed by many elite members of the Hidden Leaf Village, Shiyu Uchiha, dressed in his black haori robe, looked particularly handsome and dashing. Meanwhile, Ling Uzumaki, wearing a pristine white wedding dress, appeared like a fairy descending from heaven. The two held their solemn and sacred wedding ceremony at the Naka Shrine—the holy land of the Uchiha Clan.

With the master of ceremonies leading the way, Shiyu Uchiha and Ling Uzumaki entered the banquet hall, flanked by their closest friends. The entire venue was beautifully decorated, filled with an atmosphere of joy and harmony. As music played, the wedding ceremony officially began. Under everyone's gaze, the couple held hands, smiled, and walked toward each other.

Those attending the wedding came in an endless stream. Among them were members of the Uchiha Clan led by Shizhi Uchiha herself—who, as the main family, naturally offered full support for this grand occasion.

Led by Tsunade, representatives from the Uzumaki Clan extended their most sincere blessings and generous gifts on behalf of the bride's side.

Also present were classmates and friends led by Minato Namikaze and Kushina Uzumaki. Their arrival added even more energy and joy to the celebration.

Beyond these groups, one could also see three young kids trailing behind Minato Namikaze. Obito Uchiha had already gone to flirt with Rin Nohara. Watching him stare at Rin, drool forming at the corner of his mouth, clearly lost in thoughts of their future wedding day, Shiyu Uchiha couldn't help but shake his head in mild exasperation.

Thinking back, though, it wasn't surprising. After all, even at the age of five, Obito had already set his heart on Rin. Now, such behavior had simply become increasingly amusing.

After completing a series of elaborate wedding rituals, the newlywed couple—Shiyu Uchiha and Ling Uzumaki—took the stage one after another to deliver their speeches. They expressed gratitude to all relatives and friends who had come to witness this special moment, stating that they would cherish each other dearly and walk hand-in-hand through every future day.

Next came the elders from both sides offering their blessings. On Shiyu Uchiha's side, naturally, stood Shizhi Uchiha. She stepped onto the stage, smiling warmly at the young couple before offering them her heartfelt wishes: "On behalf of the Uchiha Clan, I wish you happiness, prosperity, and everlasting love." Her words were met with warm applause from the audience.

On Ling Uzumaki's side, only Tsunade stood as the elder representative. She reluctantly walked up to the stage, cast a glance at Shiyu Uchiha, then at Ling Uzumaki, and said in a heavy tone: "I hope you two make each other truly happy… Take care."

With those words, she stepped down, leaving Shiyu Uchiha and Ling Uzumaki standing slightly awkwardly onstage. Sensing the deep emotions hidden within Tsunade's tone—clearly reminding her of her own past experiences—Shiyu Uchiha didn't take offense at all.

Though Tsunade's words carried little warmth, this wedding still drew widespread attention. Some believed it marked a crucial opportunity for the Senju and Uchiha families—two powerful clans—to join hands once again in cooperation.

However, both Shiyu Uchiha and the members of the Senju Clan remained low-key about this matter. The Senju had no such intentions, and Shiyu knew it wasn't the right time yet, so both sides intentionally or unintentionally downplayed its impact.

In addition, Hiruzen Sarutobi took this matter very seriously. He deeply understood that if left unchecked, it could lead to internal unrest within the Hidden Leaf Village. Therefore, he implemented a series of measures to suppress the spread of rumors, even considering preventing Tsunade from attending the wedding beforehand.

However, since Tsunade was the last surviving elder from Ling Uzumaki's family line, Hiruzen couldn't find a suitable excuse to stop her. Moreover, Tsunade wasn't someone easily swayed by others, so Hiruzen could only offer suggestions rather than make decisions. In the end, he had no choice but to compromise and accept the fact that Tsunade would attend the wedding.

After the ceremony concluded, everyone began drinking together. Watching Tsunade's bold manner, Shiyu felt an inexplicable sense of concern. He worried she might get too drunk and start something, although her past behavior when drinking had always been quite good.

Still, just in case, a single Shizune wouldn't be enough to handle her if things got out of hand. So he quickly found Minato Namikaze, hoping he and Kushina could help keep an eye on her. Fortunately, Minato proved quite reliable, immediately patting his chest and agreeing enthusiastically.

From this day forward, Ling Uzumaki officially changed her name to Ling Uchiha, transforming from a maiden into a married woman.

Several days after the wedding ceremony, under the supervision of Uchiha Shizhi, Shiyu Uchiha held the clan leadership succession ceremony. Truthfully, Shiyu didn't want things to proceed so quickly. He had already realized that Uchiha Shizhi was currently maintaining good health precisely because completing this matter served as spiritual motivation. Once her heart's wish was fulfilled, illness would inevitably follow—one caused by complete depletion of life force, incurable and irreversible.

Yet Shiyu Uchiha could do nothing about it. After all, Uchiha Shizhi insisted firmly. She knew her own body well enough—if the succession ceremony wasn't held soon and she suddenly passed away, it might later cause turmoil within the family, perhaps even inviting interference from the Hokage faction. There was no way she would allow that to happen.

Therefore, ultimately unable to defy Uchiha Shizhi's command, Shiyu Uchiha reluctantly accepted the leadership position of the Uchiha Clan.

On the day of the succession ceremony, all members of the Uchiha Clan gathered together, dressed uniformly in formal attire, standing solemnly at the Naka Shrine—the ancestral grounds of the Uchiha clan compound. Standing upon the platform wearing splendid clan leader's garments, Shiyu Uchiha received the reverent bows and blessings of everyone present.

As he received the ceremonial fan symbolizing the clan leader's authority, Shiyu felt a heavy pressure settle over him. He knew that from this moment onward, he would bear the weight of the fate, glory, and burdens of the entire Uchiha Clan, becoming the true leader of this great family.

This action finally filled the vacancy of clan head—a position that had remained empty for over forty years since Madara Uchiha's departure.

This incident not only ensured the survival of the Uchiha Clan's legacy but also signaled that the long-inactive Uchiha were about to rise again, putting enormous pressure on the Hokage's faction.

Since Shiyu Uchiha became the clan head, he began exercising full authority as the leader. Prior to this, he had already eliminated anyone within the clan who could stand in his way. So everything went smoothly once he took over as clan head. Even the few hardliners dared not provoke him openly and could only quietly accept this reality.
