Chapter 126 - Chapter 126 – Tang San’s Third Soul Ring, the Titan Giant Ape

In the original story, Tang San's third soul ring came from a two thousand year old Human Faced Demon Spider.

Coincidentally, this Human Faced Demon Spider was also one that Tang San snatched from Meng Yiran and her group.

According to the theory Yu Xiaogang had taught Tang San, if Tang San absorbed such a spirit beast that had already surpassed the limit of what he could bear for a third ring, he would certainly explode and die.

But Tang San not only survived, he successfully absorbed the ring and even obtained his very first "external plugin": an attached spirit bone the Eight Spider Lances.

Now, however, Meng Yiran has already acquired her third soul ring, so Dragon Duke Meng Shu would naturally not seek another for her.

And with Oscar's planning, Tang San's third soul ring would no longer come from a Human Faced Demon Spider. Meanwhile, Dugu Yan's fifth soul ring could at least support the absorption of a thirty thousandyear beast, which was completely unrelated to a mere two thousand year spider.

So… how could they possibly encounter that same Human Faced Demon Spider that would drop the Eight Spider Lances?

To be honest, Oscar himself wasn't sure whether they would or not. But he didn't particularly care, because with Dugu Yan's current talent and strength

The Eight Spider Lances would certainly boost her ability, but even without them, it wouldn't make much difference.

So Oscar's attitude was relaxed: let things take their natural course. Maybe the same Human Faced Demon Spider that dropped the Eight Spider Lances in the original story would just appear on its own?

After traveling three more days in the Star Dou Great Forest, the group finally encountered a spirit beast suitable for Dai Mubai's fourth soul ring.

Dai Mubai could now absorb spirit rings beyond his limit again. With his current physique, his fourth ring could reach as high as eight thousand years. After absorbing it, his soul power actually jumped directly to the early stage of rank forty two.

This not only gave him a massive boost in strength but also saved him a great deal of time by granting an extra level immediately.

Tang San, Ning Rongrong, and the others couldn't help but envy Dai Mubai's gains. Even Zhu Zhuqing, who had also absorbed a higher level third soul ring, was only at the peak of level thirty one, still needing hard training to reach thirty two.

Still, it was already a pleasant surprise. As for Tang San, Xiao Wu, and Ning Rongrong, all they could do was envy, since they had only been at the academy for two months and hadn't yet had a chance to receive its secret training methods.

Next came Tang San's turn. His third soul ring was chosen from a Life Spirit Vine, meant to compensate for the suppression of his Blue Silver Emperor bloodline caused by absorbing the wrong ring earlier.

Choosing the Life Spirit Vine not only increased the vitality of his Blue Silver Grass but also filled in much of what had been missing before though at the cost of losing a control skill.

But that was only for now. Overall, once Tang San awakened his Blue Silver Grass bloodline in the future, having a life recovery type skill would give his martial spirit terrifying utility.

Because the Blue Silver Grass itself was very fragile, but if it gained powerful vitality and regeneration, it would be nearly impossible to destroy instantly unless under elemental restraint.

After another day, Tang San finally obtained his third soul ring a 1,700 year old Life Spirit Vine. After absorbing it, he could clearly feel changes in his martial spirit.

It felt as though this was how it should have always been. The Life Spirit Vine gave him his third soul skill, "Source of Life," which allowed his Blue Silver Grass to regenerate instantly and also let him either absorb or transfer life force from plants weaker than himself.

Originally, Tang San hadn't expected much from this third skill he only wanted something to make up for his earlier loss.

But once he acquired it, he realized Oscar had been absolutely correct: instant regeneration for Blue Silver Grass, with the ability to absorb or bestow life force from weaker plants.

If used wisely, this skill would be immensely powerful not only unmatched for survival but also highly useful for control.

Though Blue Silver Grass was fragile, instant regeneration essentially offset that weakness.

And Oscar reminded him that once his Blue Silver Emperor bloodline awakened, the Blue Silver Grass would be many times stronger than now, gaining incredible toughness.

Tang San couldn't help but regret: why had he absorbed the Mandala Snake for his first soul ring?

The binding ability didn't really require a soul skill he could already do it, especially with Controlling Crane, Capturing Dragon. Even without the first skill, his binds would still be reliable.

His second skill was decent, though Parasite was a versatile control ability.

The only disappointment was his first skill, Bind.

Now Tang San increasingly felt that following Yu Xiaogang's advice back then had been a mistake. If only he had met Senior Oscar earlier maybe his Blue Silver Grass would have already evolved.

This thought came because after absorbing the life filled third soul ring, his martial spirit indeed changed greatly. The stronger vitality of his spirit naturally benefitted him as a soul master.

According to Oscar, if Tang San could acquire a ten thousand year Blue Silver King as his fifth ring, he could complete his martial spirit's evolution.

But the Blue Silver King was extremely rare. Since Blue Silver Grass was the lowest class plant spirit, few ever survived to reach ten thousand years.

Oscar had already planned Tang San's fourth soul ring, so he directly told him: when you have the chance, seek a ten thousand year Blue Silver King for your fifth only then can your martial spirit evolve completely.

Otherwise, Tang San would need at least his seventh ring to awaken his bloodline, since only with enough vitality and bloodline power could evolution be triggered.

There did exist a Blue Silver King of at least fifty thousand years in the original story, it was this one that helped Tang San awaken his bloodline.

But Oscar wouldn't help Tang San find it Tang Hao already knew its location.

Tang San's third soul skill was so powerful because of his pure Blue Silver Emperor bloodline. As long as the right rings were chosen, his skills would never be weak.

After helping Tang San acquire his ring, only Xiao Wu and Dugu Yan were left. Xiao Wu didn't need to hunt beastsshe could condense her own ring at the right time.

On their way here, Oscar had already told Xiao Wu that he would find a chance for her to condense one.

After spending over two months together, Xiao Wu now fully trusted Oscar. Even though he hadn't yet taken her to condense her ring, she wasn't worried.

Because in her understanding of him, Oscar always kept his word.

The reason Oscar hadn't taken Xiao Wu yet was because he was waiting for someone, or rather, some beast, he had long planned for.

While searching for soul rings for Xiao Wu and Dugu Yan, the group camped by a small creek at night. As usual, Oscar put on his apron and cooked a delicious meal for everyone.

His cooking had grown more and more skilled over the years, rivaling even Shao Xin'sthough perhaps lacking some of Shao Xin's experience.

Just as Oscar was carefully preparing the meal, a sudden change occurred. Flender and Zhao Wuji, who had been waiting to eat, suddenly leapt to their feet and shouted:

"Everyone, leave the tents immediately!"

As their words fell, a terrifying aura erupted from both men. With sharp cries and roars, their martial spirits Owl and Vigorous Vajra Bearinstantly possessed them.

Having trained together for so long, the group reacted quickly and rushed out of the tents.

Flender soared into the air, while Zhao Wuji shielded the children.

Eight spirit rings two yellow, two purple, four blackrose from each of their bodies, releasing the oppressive pressure of Soul Douluo level directly toward a certain direction.

Oscar already knew what this was about but couldn't show it. He hurried to Zhao Wuji's side and whispered:

"Teacher Zhao, what's wrong?"

Zhao Wuji's face was grave. "Oscar, if anything happens, don't worry about me or Flender. Get everyone out of hereleave the Star Dou Forest first. Protecting them is your responsibility."

Flender's sharp eagle eyes stayed locked ahead. "Listen to Zhao Wuji, Oscar. With your clone sausages, as long as you all escape, we'll make it out too."

The students were confused what could possibly make even Flender and Zhao Wuji so tense?

After all, this area was just the border between the outer and middle regions of the forest. The strongest beasts here were around ten thousand years.

But then they saw it.

Two giant trees slowly parted, and from between them, a colossal figure silently emerged.

It was like a moving mountain. Its black fur shone with a faint black golden luster under the starlight. Even on all fours, its shoulders were seven or eight meters high.

If it stood upright, it would be over fifteen meters.

It looked like both a giant ape and a gorilla. Aside from its lantern sized golden eyes, its entire body gleamed blackgold.

Its physique was unimaginably massive, every muscle bulging like granite hills.

Yet despite its bulk, it moved silently, without even the sound of breathing like it had no weight at all.

But of course, something that huge couldn't possibly be weightless. One step should shake the ground.

Its ability to approach silently spoke volumes.

Everyone immediately recognized it thanks to Oscar's strict training in theory.

"The King of the Forest… Titan Giant Ape." Even the normally calm Dugu Yan's voice trembled.

The others' faces showed the same fear. Even Flender and Zhao Wuji weren't surprised. The Titan Giant Ape was too terrifying.

Wherever it appeared, it was the overlord of that forest.

No beast dared provoke it death was the only result. Even a hundred year Titan Giant Ape could rival ordinary ten thousand year beasts.

Its species' attributes and rank made it superior even among equal aged soul beasts.

And the Titan Giant Ape was one of the few beasts at the very top of the pyramid, with destructive power that haunted every soul master's nightmares.

It possessed unmatched strength and speed, with no weaknesses in attack or defense. Most frighteningly, it could use skill like abilities.

No one knew their full extent anyone who saw them didn't survive.

Countless soul masters had coveted its power, hoping to kill it for a ring but all who tried vanished from the world.

The Titan Giant Ape wasn't just powerful it was intelligent, on par with humans.

In the forest, it was the absolute king.

Apart from Oscar and Xiao Wu, the Shrek students couldn't understand why such a king of soul beasts one that should only dwell in the forest's core was here.

And this Titan Giant Ape clearly had cultivation over eighty thousand years possibly even a hundred thousand. Even Soul Douluos like Flender and Zhao Wuji couldn't gauge its true strength.

That meant only one thing: it was far above them. Even with Oscar's sausages, they couldn't hope to fight it.

So Flender and Zhao Wuji quickly decided. Zhao Wuji stepped forward and said solemnly:

"Respected King of the Forest, we mean no offense. If this is your territory, we will withdraw immediately."

But the Titan Giant Ape ignored them. It simply took one step forward

And everyone's hearts jumped to their throats.

Just one step, but with its massive body, it closed the distance between them considerably.

Flender and Zhao Wuji's minds raced. The only question was: What now?

They both knew the Titan Giant Ape was far more terrifying than even the Dragon Serpent couple they had faced before.

At this point, they would rather face a Titled Douluo than this King of Beasts.

In its presence, they doubted even their ability to protect themselves, let alone their students.

But as Shrek's dean and vice dean, they could not retreat.

Besides, even if they escaped, their lives would be ruined because the children behind them all had important backgrounds.

So they made their decision. In unison, they shouted:

"We'll hold it off! You must eat Oscar's Swift Sausages and escape immediately!"

"I won't be able to hold on for long move quickly!"

With those words, Flender and Zhao Wuji inhaled deeply. Their eight soul rings shone brightly as they charged straight at the Titan Giant Ape.
