Chapter 7 - Chapter VII: Racing to Mysteries

Sera was sitting at her desk with a powerful haunting in her eyes as she was confronted by the ever-too curious Lute that had been eaten with wonder of her conversation with Adam after the last meeting, thinking for days on end about the mystery behind the seraphim and her mysterious past.

"I'm sorry maam but I can't ignore this. I need to know the truth." Lute stood firmly on the other side of the desk with her arms crossed.

Sera felt the same guilt and anger of her past pass through like a ghost at this demand. It wasn't wrong though for Lute to need answers after the meeting left so many mysteries. Fortunately the seraphim learned to suppress most of her past with the help of her work and the understanding of a few angels that knew what happened.

"Some things are best left buried." She told Lute with the same stoic expression she gives to her lessers, but the tone underneath was of suggestion rather than finality.

"Buried?" Lute questioned scathingly as Sera left her seat to gaze out at Heaven for all its worth.

A moment of silence passed after Lite took her side and watched, but for both it was opposing ends to a dark history both hidden and deeply wanted to be known. Heaven was perfect, the sunset, the peace, the joy of every Angel that either walked or flew around, some of which passing by carefree and waving at the balcony.

Sera took a deep breath underneath her sorrowful snile as Lute watched her remove a fragment of light from her robe.

"Do you understand what this is, Lute?" She asked warnly, her eyes fixated on the shard in her palm.

Lute shook her head and looked up to Sera with concern and curiosity.

"It is a fragment of my son's soul."

"A fragment?" Lute gasped.

"Yes, a piece of the child I created from a dying star long before the fall of Lucifer." She replied. Her voice hitched at the remembrance of the boy she once adored, and Lute immediately closed her mouth to listen more, watching the fragment be clutched gently.

"His name was Romna and he was an energetic and joyful Angel. I made him from that star and a piece of my divinity when I craved a child, much like the humans."

Sera looked up to the stars above heaven and shed tears as the memories filled her with a confliction of happiness and despair.

"But you killed him." Lute bear a softer expressio, gazing at the shard with wonder. "Why?"

Sera gave agreement with a nod and turned to face her, showing that even she had vulnerability in her tears.

"He was to stand by me in the council, but he defied me when the Heavenly Father decreed after Lucifer fell that some of us would serve the purpose of guarding the realms, and Romna chose that over being at my side, as mother and son in the council."

Sera closed her eyes and breathed out the choking regret of her son's demise. She then opened them somberly and regarded her last with warmth and regret as Lute remained silent.

"After Lucifer fell, there were a few who willingly chose to become these beasts that would would safeguard heaven. Romna was the most devoted to the cause and offered himself. But I forbid it when the Heavenly Father changed purpose to keeping hell locked."

Lute lost her scrutinizing glare and faltered with shock as Sera continued with bitterness now in her tone to the unwanted memory she cast with wave of her hand.

"Romna was the first to offer himself, to become a divine beast that would keep hell at bay. But I knew of the corruption down there and how it would influence his mind."

"That's why you….." Lute paused herself with a deeper understanding. "You didn't want to to risk him becoming another demon to Lucifer's cause."

Sera hardened both her mind and heart before forcing the memory to replay in front of them, and bitterly shared with Lute the start of a wedge that would drive a mother and son apart. She clutched the shard tighter in her grasp with lingering pain to the past of her son and their argument.

"Think of what you're doing Romna!" She pleaded through unshed tears mixed with anger and desperation.

She stood in the same council room and stared at the back of her child that shook in place, ruffling his six wings with anger and defiance.

"Romna please think clearly!" Sera clutched her hands together.

"I am thinking clearly."

Romna hated it more than anyone else of the duties he would carry, but the finality in his eyes spoke it all when he faced his desperate mother now face to face with him in this grim decision.

"I am going to become a divine beast and take my role in a higher purpose for the sake of heaven. I will safeguard the balance between Heaven and Hell."

Sera felt a brief moment of pride swell in her but cast it aside with maternal feeling, her love for her son was too important to be put after her duties.

"Please don't do this. I can't bear the possibility of losing you to the influence of hell."

Romna looked away once more, but the seraphim could not bear this pain from his defiance, not when it meant he was breaking her heart.

Sera caressed his face with both hands, with love and desperation to force his gaze back when it turned away.

"Look at me baby." She held his face firm and grew more desperate when his gaze wouldn't meet. "Look at me baby!"

Romna finally met her desperation, peering into those bloodshot and teary eyes that stared deeply.

His silence was a dagger though as she met the unshaking certainty in his face.

"The decision was made by our Heavenly Father already."

"No!" She snapped and backed away in her vulnerability that became a moment of rage. "You are my son ! I am the one who created you!"

"I am not a child!" He barked before Sera grabbed his face again.

"Yes you are!" She refused to believe that with every fiber of her being. "You are my child!"

She looked up to her son and smiled forcefully, holding her motherly need against Romna through guilt in hope that he would come to his senses.

Hope was not enough when he shut his eyes and shook his head, and it drove her aching heart.

Sera took a deep breath, shaking with fear and need before her breaking voice came out as a melody, her touch softening to his skin when she stopped holding so tightly.

"~Please…..please...don't do what's right... let's stay for one another ." Sera poured her everything into said melody as she took his hands and pressed the softest kiss. "Please just stay with me…..please don't break the heart.….of your mother~."

Romna stood there like a tree staring down at his mother now caressing his hands and on the verge of a breakdown. Her melodic voice was nostalgia to the child he once used to be that was full of wonder and excitement, but that was as a past put behind for himself to become the divinity he felt was needed.

He felt a deep guilt for the pain he was causing for his choice to become a divine beast and cracked in his stoic facade as she waited for his heart to betray him of his duty to heaven.

But his heart did not...

A silence passed between them in those few moments where Sera had hope that her son would finally come to his senses, but for her it was a terrible shatter of her heart when he forcefully pulled his hands from hers and stepped back.

Sera choked back the sobs that wanted to be free as he spoke in a mix of regret and determination.

"I'm sorry mother. But this will be my purpose for the sake of heaven."

"Please." She croaked weakly and reached for his hands again, until he disappeared in a flash of light and echoed only three words.

"Forgive me mother….."

Sera froze with despair at her reach being all for not when her hands touched nothing but the air where her son stood. Her strength to withold her sorrow failed and became echoed as sobs in the empty council when she fell to her knees with a shattering of her heart.

With regret even after such a deeply buried past, Sera cast the memory away and wiped the one tear that escaped her before the bewildered Lute stared with understanding behind the motive of destroying her own child.

"You were protecting him from himself."

Sera breathed heavily and nodded before she cast the pain away once more and waved Lute off.

"I need to be alone."

Lute went to protest but quickly closed off her thoughts with how coldly Sera looked down at her. She mentally shook off her curiosity and went to disappear until her attention snapped to the fragment still in the seraphim's hands.

"Sera is it supposed to do that?"

Sera's expression suddenly changed from regret to suspicion and concern as she looked down at the fragment that went from a dull shimmer to pulsating in her hands with surprising warmth to it. She gasped and raised it up to her eye level while sensing what had her breath hitch with disbelief as soon it was confirmed in the emotions she felt from it.

Nervousness...Fear…..Anger…..

There was no denial from Sera. She could feel that the fragment had life…..

"Sera?" Lute became worried when the seraphim herself was now in full-blown tears.

"Where is Saint Peter?" Sera asked, hope lacing in her voice as she clutched the pulsating fragment, her gaze slowly turning with a powerful intensity not seen in a very long time.

"At his lunch break." Lute answered with a slight hitch in her voice.

Sera nodded at her with newfound determination sharpening in her eyes as the fragment began to hum.

"Get him for me now." Sera spoke suddenly with authority as she started examining the fragment. "And tell him to bring the book."

"The book?" Lute questioned

Sera straightened her posture and went back to her seat, her eyes burning with a possessiveness for said fragment.

"Yes. The book. And bring Uriel as well."

Meanwhile at Hazbin Hotel…..

Everyone was sitting with various fears and thoughts as the interview conducted in a one-sided manner controlled by Vox, his questions both degrading and hostile with faux-friendliness as the viewers across Pentagram City were eating up every bit of information and commenting on the social page.

Noctis was backed into a corner as he sat in that chair with the cameras focused on him. He had no one help him through this terrifying time.

And worst of all, Charlie and her friends could only watch as Vox took every advantage and turned it on the princess with his way of wording the entire life story Noctis had to share.

"New digs and a hellhound." Husk grumbled from the couch as he finished off a bottle, clearly unimpressed. "Anybody else thinking this reeks of bribery?"

"No doubt." Angel said flatly while glaring at Alastor.

"So you work as the handyman at the hotel?" Vox laughed, mockery laced in his tone as the cameras zoomed in on Noctis.

Noctis' expression changed from worried nervousness to a more relaxed as he adjusted the pup in his arm, staring at the camera.

"I mean yeah I work around the hotel on my free time and—"

"Free time?" Vox gasped dramatically into the camera. "You mean you're free labor for the princess!"

"Slave labor. The audacity of the princess!" Velvette gave mockery concern with how she cupped her own face to the camera.

"What!?" Charlie exclaimed at the tv.

The audience in the back began to whisper amongst themselves, their expressions showing disgust and anger before phones were pulled out.

Noctis' eyes widened to the implication Vox had just given the audience, whilst Velvette used her social media influence to spin everything.

"He's gonna ruin Charlie!" Vaggie snapped out of her seat as the heaviness of Vox's motive became clear. "He's trying to play with Noctis' head."

"Very smart." Alastor hummed with amusement as he took a seat on the couch and watched. "Let's see how this plays out."

"Play out?" Angel questioned the radio demon.

"What are you up to?" Vaggie narrowed her focus on Alastor as he chuckled darkly with all suspicion on him.

The conniving demon sighed through his amusement, wondering how small their thinking coule be when it came to the hotel.

"Those morons are aware of our mortal friend and his strange ability, and now with the new outfit and pup given to him, along with revealing his existence, it's obvious that—"

"That they're trying to make him join through bribery and backing him into a corner!" Pentious interrupted in his usual triumphant tone.

"Precisely." Alastor nodded. He hated that the snake demon interrupted his little moment of epiphany for the group but remained collected as Charlie clenched her fists and growled quietly.

"She's touching his thigh."

"What?" Vaggie snipped before seeing what her fumed girlfriend saw on the screen of her phone.

Velvette had taken advantage of Noctis being backed in with questions and accusations during the ongoing interview. She had leaned in her seat and caught the attention of the entire network by the touch of her hand so high on his thigh, smirking into the camera as if challenging Charlie over who had him.

It didn't help that Noctis had attempted to scoot away but the fashion overlord made a firm grip to disrespect his boundaries.

Vaggir narrowed her eyes at the screen while Charlie started to show more of that possessive flair by showing her horns. It didn't take a genius for anyone to see that it was definitely a bold move from the fashionista that would own Noctis.

"That bitch….." Charlie clenched her teeth and growled, squeezing her phone to the point of crushing it.

"Fucker is hammering Charlie." Angel Dust bristled at the commentary coming left and right from Vox and his audience.

"Been in hell for a few months now and the princess made it her mission to keep this handsome guy a secret." Vox emphasized a lack of personal space with how he gripped the human by his shoulder.

It was only getting worse with the audience posting comments on social media as Noctis tried to defend her.

"Charlie has done nothing but—"

"Hide you from hell!" Vox laughed with the audience, silencing him again. "Lock you away like a dog and use you!"

"No she's been—"

"Sounds like our princess is quite the greedy girl." Velvette interrupted as Noctis glared back and forth to her and Vox.

Noctis growled at those words and let his

discomfort rise into a protective anger as he glared between the two overlords. Said overlords didn't notice this when they're attention thrill was getting them more followers than expected through using his situation.

"Charlie is not greedy or—"

"And to think she had this good-looking guy working on her shitty hotel the entire time with no incentive." Vox wasn't giving any room to talk as the audience ate up the lies.

He grabbed Noctis by his cheeks and squeezed. "I mean look at this handsome guy. How cruel do you have to be to force someone to work for free?"

"No money?" Velvette played out a dramatic gasp. "And she says she's for redemption. How can anyone be that when they are using this poor thing?"

Noctis wasn't sure how much more he could take with tension now rising in the crowd as some booed to the cameras and threw insults for the princess.

Vox leaned into the camera and sneered with growing interest of putting Charlie down.

"Sounds like the princess bitch isn't as nice and caring as you all think if she's using a human as a slave for her hotel."

There was a subtle difference in Noctis with those words triggering his protective nature as soon as everyone started laughing about the hotel, but nobody noticed his change as he clenched his teeth and growled.

Except for his friends…..

"Guys," Angel Dust paused and stared critically at his phone screen. "Look at his eyes."

Everyone focused in on the human sitting there with visible shakiness during his change from scared to angry and clenching the arm rest with his hand so tightly it began to crack.

"Charlie did his eyes glow before?" Vaggie asked curiously, her concern rising as the interview got intense from the next thing Vox said.

"No, they didn't." Charlie replied with a hint of worry in her tone.

Both girls lost their focus on the touch Velvette had on the man and tilted their heads worriedly before the next statement from Vox. The group was locked in on the their teeth clenching friend as a faint shimmer of energy matched his amber eyes.

"Kid's getting mad." Husk pointed out, making the radio demon show intrigue by leaning in from his seat.

"So our dear handyman does have a temper." Alastor chuckled amusedly before his grin cracked. "And such a delicious temper that is unraveling a bigger mystery. Let's see where it takes him."

"Noctis…." Charlie watched with bated breath.

"What is your problem?" Noctis asked slowly, dangerously with his free fist popping from how tightly he clenched it, his other tightening around the whimpering pup that sensed the hostility.

"I'm just speaking the truth pal." Said the TV Demon as he leaned back in his chair. "Charlie is clearly using you for—"

"Take it back." Noctis looked from under his hair to Vox, casting a single eye that shimmered dangerously with his low tone.

The audience became a low murmur after they saw him shift from the nervous and terrified man to a sudden protector , wondering where this came from while Vox found it as an amusing challenge.

"Vox," Velvette paused after she removed her hand, seeing the human suddenly grip the armrest so tightly that it splintered. "Tone it down now."

Vox was momentarily bewildered by his own ally giving warning. He slowly lifted himself and turned to face the human scowling under his hair and growling.

He leaned down and grinned smugly, "Listen kid, this is my domain so you better—"

Suddenly Noctis shot up from his seat and swung at Vox as the audience gasped. His fist connected to the screen with a powerful blow and knocked the demon off his own stage while shards of glass dug into Noctis' knuckles.

The audience, the viewers, everyone in hell was put into a shocking silence of the most influential overlord knocked on his backside with a cracked screen. Said demon would static in and out of his stupor while Velvette remained in her seat and gawked.

"Holy shit!" Angel Dust shouted in disbelief at the screen while Alastor fell out of seat guffawing from the event.

Alastor was in tears and rolling on the floor.

"Woah." Husk dropped his bottle.

Charlie and Vaggie were absolutely stunned by the display Noctis put on as he directed his attention to the audience.

Noctis ignored the crying of the pup as it sensed his hostility, and turned to the audience with his chance now open to speak.

"Here's the truth. Charlie Morningstar is not keeping me locked up like some animal or treating me like a slave with no pay. She is my friend and a damn good person who I say is as humane as it gets!"

Charlie widened her eyes and let the tears flow freely as she watched the screen. There were murmurs going in the audience as Vox tried to recover with a cracked screen. Said overlord was gesturing with his hands to the cameramen to kill the live stream but everyone focused on the angered human still speaking his mind.

"She is kind and gentle. All she's done is take me in as one of her own. She has fed me, clothed me, even made an effort to check on me on a regular basis to make sure I wasn't hurting or in need."

He thrusted a finger down at the enraged Vox.

"And that piece of shit used a phone he sent to me as a supoosed gift to kidnap me and perform all this crap, probably hoping I'd turn against her!"

"Shut him up." Vox growled quietly to Velvette as the human continued his rant.

"So no, Charlie is not the monster he and velvette make her out to be. She is a wonderful, loving, and beautiful individual and I support her dream of redeeming sinners!"

"Not bad kid." Husk grunted in approval and raised a new bottle to the screen while the princess was feeling the same emotions for Noctis burn hotter than ever.

"Not bad baby." Angel smirked with pride while Vaggie took Charlie's hand and watched with her.

"Fuck this place. I'm going home." Noctis declared and made his way to the nearest stage exit, throwing back the middle finger on camera. "And fuck this Vees thing. I'd rather be dead before joining a bunch of assholes who think it's okay to kidnap people!"

"What did you say you little prick!?" Vox snapped.

Noctis refused to pay attention to the infuriated Vox stumbling back to his feet and he certainly wasn't going to stick around for either overlord to use him as leverage.

"After all we did for you, you little red meat bastard!" Velvette barked and finally got up from her seat, ready with her powers to restrain the human before she remembered his strange ability.

"Kiss my ass!" Noctis snapped back.

However his focus was stolen as soon as he opened the exit door and came face to face with a mildly irritated Valentino .... but had no idea who he was.

Angel felt his heart almost stop as soon as the cameras turned and zoomed in on the two coming face to face, his eyes widening to the terror that was about to happen.

"Oh no." Charlie gasped while Vaggie clenched her teeth.

"Oh this just got really bad." Husk commented with his own sense of concern as the live view still continued.

Alastor only watched in silence after he got back up in his chair, but radiated a mild aura of interest and possession for the human with knowing how unwell the situation could turn out to be.

"Get ready to remove him." He whispered into his microphone and watched his shadow give a thumbs up from the merge of Noctis' shadow.

Secrecy, his greatest weapon for now. But it didn't go unnoticed by Husk who glared at the demon after seeing the small reaction on camera.

"What did you—"

"Hush." Alastor interrupted with a quiet breath.

"Well look who it is." The porn demon mused as he stared down at the glaring human. "You've been quite a naughty boy hitting Vox like that and speaking out of line."

"Who the hell are you?" Noctis spat distastefully and hugged the pup tighter to his chest.

The next thing everyone knew was that Angel Dust started pacing in front of the tv after he did a speed dial on his phone and muttered worriedly. Alastor rolled his eyes at this while the rest of the gang watched to see what he was doing.

"Come on. Pick up."

Noctis started to back away from the porn demon as he paused to answer when the caller I.D. revealed to be Angel, turning his smile into something more sinister.

"Hold that thought." Valentino held up a finger and answered his ringing phone on speaker. "Hello Angel, I just met your handsome friend here."

"Angel?" Noctis questioned.

"NOCTIS THAT'S VALENTINO. GET AWAY FROM HIM!!!"

Valentino rolled his eyes and huffed before he ended the call. "That boy is always ruining my damn fun."

Noctis seemed to suddenly realize what kind of danger he was in and backpedalled his feet hastily from the demon while Vox recovered and hopped back on stage with the cameras and audience still on him.

"Well that was rude." Valentino tucked his phone away and focused on Noctis once more.

"Fuck it. Hard way it is." Velvette shrugged before she donned a dark grin and joined both boys to corner the man.

"Charlie, you're the princess. Do something!" Angel exclaimed as he tried calling Valentino again, but it went straight to voicemail each time with his desperation now in a screaming declaration.

"DONT YOU TOUCH HIM VALENTINO. LEAVE HIM ALONE!"

Charlie forced herself out of the tension and paced with racing thoughts, using every ounce of power to come up with an idea while Angel's calls continued to go to voicemail.

"Charlie?" Vaggie even started to fear the outcome.

"I don't know what to do!" Charlie gestured wildly as they all watched the rising confrontation.

"Uh guys…." Husk started to worry as he pointed to the tv. "Noctis is getting closer to that window."

"Hurry up." Alastor whispered to his microphone, but his shadow was having a hard time making a portal with the human moving.

"Stay back!" Noctis snapped, taking deliberste steps firther away from the Vees as they approached menacingly.

Vox was at his breaking point as he continued to static in and out while the fury of being assaulted in front of his viewers radiated in how he made the power to the building flicker.

"I tried to do this the nice way but you had to be a little bitch and speak your mind about your so-called friends." He spat as Noctis noticed his hands crackled with electricity.

Vox stopped long enough to building electricity and cackled with malicious intention before he unleashed a beam.

"Well now you're gonna fucking listen!"

Noctis quickly ducked from the beam that shattered the window, clutched the crying pup and hastened to get away as soon as he recovered his footing.

"Since you want to make a mockery of the Vees on television, we're gonna do this my way!" Vox exclaimed and built up more energy than ith each menacing step he took. "I'm gonna tear your soul out and figure out what makes you so special, and then make you our fucking slave!"

"I could always use a new model." Velvette suggested thoughtfully as Noctis got closer to the shattered window.

"And I could use a new plaything." Valentino licked his teeth hungrily.

"Stay away from me!" Noctis snapped at the Vees.

"Now would be a good time boss!" Husk screamed at the radio demon, turning all attention in the lounge room from the tv to him and his owner.

"I'm trying but he won't stop moving. He has to stay still!" Alastor growled as he showed some of his aura in the attempt he was making to retrieve Noctis.

"What are you trying?" Angel asked worriedly as the cameras zoomed in on the Vees closing around their human.

Alastor was frustrated at this point and it showed with the continuous twitch of his smile as he tried to flare his shadow with Noctis'.

"I'm trying to teleport him back to us but he won't stay still!"

"Try harder!" Vaggie snapped.

Just then the fear became terror as Vox summoned a pair of drones on the set.

"I'm gonna make you my bitch!"

Noctis' eyes widened at the machines closing in with mechanical arms, ready to tear the pup from his arms and restrain him.

"I said stay back!" He took another step back but found no footing while the entire network watched as his entire form started to fall back.

It dawned to the man he had gone back too far and fell.

"FUCK!" Vox cast the drones to make the grab for the human, but it was too late.

In the lounge room Charlie broke out in a scream as they watched the man screech and descend the building with the drones flying down and recording the whole situation. The live stream was now blowing up as the focus remained on him.

"Do something!" Angel screamed at the radio demon.

"I can't use my shadow if there's no solid surface!" Alastor replied angrily.

Time seemed to slow down as all of hell watched the plummeting human fall faster and faster with the drones unable to keep up. Noctis was about to die and everyone would see him flatten as he wrapped himself around the crying pup with a shred of hope that it would be enough to at least save him.

Vaggie didn't know what to say or do as her sobbing girlfriend clung to her and looked away from the nearing death of their screaming friend.

The concrete was in full view as Noctis shut his teary eyes and waited for the inevitable. He knew this would be his end and it made him scared beyond measure, but at least in his mind he would try to save the pup.

The concrete didn't hit though and his body jerked to a stop with mere inches while the drones came to a slow halt and hovered at his side with the entire scene on stream.

Noctis didn't know what just happened until he opened his eyes and saw that he had come to a halt and floated. His heart raced, his breaths quickened, and the sheer disbelief of avoiding death shattered his sense of normality while all of hell went silent for a moment.

Alastor was the most shocked while Charlie and the others gawked. He leaned to the tv in suspicion and tilted his head.

"What the fuck?"

"What the fuck?" Noctis gasped as the cameras zoomed.

"What the fuck?" The vees snapped from the window while looking down.

"WHAT THE FUCK!?" All of pentagram city shouted.

Noctis forced his fear and denial aside as he touched the concrete with his hand and gasped in realization that it was solid. He was indeed mid-air and somehow didn't meet death as expected while the demons around the street and building watched. The drones didn't make an attempt to apprehend him while the recording continued to play with him naking conscious effort to land on his feet and straighten back up.

"I'm alive." He told himself, but even the tone he gave wasn't of certainty while his arms adjusted the terrified pup yelping.

The drones turned their viewpoint to the stunned Vees still leaned over the broken window. All three just gawked with the same disbelief before Vox was the first to make a conscious response.

He shook his broken screen vigourously and thrusted a finger down to the human.

"GET HIM!"

The audience was now in complete chaos of the craziness unfolding as the other drones split the live stream to Noctis making a dead sprint down the street while Vox teleported himself, Valentino and Velvette to their car in the street.

He roared the engine to life and all three of them sped off with the drones following.

"How the fuck does a human float?" Velvette asked angrilly as she buckled up.

"Who cares, baby." Valentino hummed with a sickening smile and cocked his pistol. "But his ass is our property now."

"FIRST ONE TO CATCH THE HUMAN AND BRING HIM TO US GETS 10,000 SOULS!" Vox snapped at the nearest drone, swerving into traffic.

Chaos immediately magnified all across the city at that point with everyone in Noctis' view as he ran now hot on his trail before Vox cut the live feed.

Everyone in the hotel was still in shock of Noctis that his supoosed last few moments of life turned out to be an even deeper mystery behind his presence in hell.

"Did he just—" Charlie couldn't even finish her own question and turned to her flabbergasted girlfriend.

"Okay, even I am stumped." Alastor admitted while his own confusion twisted into sinister thinking. "But now I'm even more interested in our friend."

"How the fuck did he just float!?" Husk steamed after dropping his bottle.

"I knew it!" Nifty laughed manically. "I knew he was more than human!"

Finally the princess snapped out her thoughts and grabbed vaggie by her hand before they ran out of the lounge room and outside.

"Charlie what are you doing!?" Vaggie yelled worriedly before she was shoved into the limo by the princess who now wore a determined look.

"We have to get him back and this is our chance!" Charlie declared before slamming the door, or at least tried to until Pentious slithered into the car as well.

"Pentious?"

"I'm coming with you to help." The snake demon declared. He took a seat across from both girls while his egg boys hopped into the driver seat. "You'll need my expertise in case we run into the Vees."

"Where to boss?" Egg boy number 4 asked.

"The city now!" Pentious shouted to his minions. "We have to find the human before the Vees do. And step on it!"

Said eggboy nodded. "You heard the boss guys."

The other egg boys nodded in unison and began working together in operating the limo, speeding from the hotel in a cloud of dust as the chaos of pentagram city turned into a single motive.

Capturing the human, and time was ticking for him.

"Do not fret, for we will recover your strange lover in no time!" Pentious declared with reassurance for the blushing couple.

"He's not our lover!" Charlie and Vaggie shouted together, but at this point they weren't so sure if they could keep being friends after how velvette touched him earlier.

The race was on.
