Chapter 66 - Chapter 65

[a/n: holy fuck this chapter took forever to write. I wanted to be as realistic as possible, and rewrote it like 5 times. this is the best you guys get. If there is errors in it, too bad. Me no want write no more on this chapter]

-SCP Terms:

Overseer Counsel- Is another term for the O-5 Counsel. They are the same thing.

I literally cant make this more simply than this. But here.

FREE PORT OR NEXUS- is a place where strange, supernatural things are always happening, but people still live there normally.

Think of it like New York City, except maybe the sun never rises, or sometimes people turn into animals—and that's just everyday life for them.

Normally, the Foundation (or other groups) would try to shut these places down and move everyone out. But sometimes that's not possible. In those cases, the area is officially marked as a Nexus.

This means it's recognized as an anomalous zone, allowed to exist, but carefully watched by the government or special organizations. The public isn't supposed to know, so evidence of these places is hidden.

There are also bigger versions of Nexuses called Free Ports.

Free Ports are unusual places that are often cut off from the normal world. In these areas, secrecy isn't needed—everyone there already knows about the strange and supernatural. They often act like independent countries, managing themselves, though larger governments sometimes step in

Incident Report ID: Lights Out

Location: Site-17

Date: January 7th, 1996

Related SCPs: SCP-8937, SCP-8937-1 through SCP-8937-4, SCP-███, SCP-073, SCP-208

Status: Investigation Ongoing

Summary

At approximately 08:17 hours, Site-17 entered a total containment lockdown following a breach of SCP-8937's containment chamber by currently unknown means.

Surveillance footage recorded SCP-8937 undergoing a rapid, violent transformation into a more predatory form, seemingly causing extreme physical distress. Upon completion, SCP-8937 fully merged with surrounding shadows and exited containment.

At the time of the incident, D-7442 was scheduled for testing with SCP-███. Reports note that D-7442 exhibited intense, irrational fear of SCP-███ and resisted transport. Escort personnel had been authorized to terminate D-7442 if noncompliance continued.

Before termination orders could be executed, SCP-8937 (in its predatory form) attacked and killed the escort team.

Observed Anomalous Behavior

Immunity to Damage: SCP-8937 demonstrated complete immunity to ballistic weaponry and physical damage.Regeneration: SCP-8937 recovered from injuries in mere seconds.Hostile Capture: SCP-8937 seized D-7442 after neutralizing escort personnel. D-7442's fate remains unknown, and SCP-8937 has refused to disclose any information during post-incident interviews.Entity Manifestation: SCP-8937 summoned multiple entities during the event, designated SCP-8937-1 through SCP-8937-4. These entities displayed loyalty to SCP-8937 and executed all received commands. Research into their nature and summoning method is ongoing.

Damage & Casualties

Structural Damage: ~40% of the eastern wing of Site-17 was destroyed.Casualties:Foundation Personnel: 106 fatalities (including all task force members deployed during the incident).SCP-073: Sustained minor injuries while aiding in containment.SCP-208: Suffered severe injuries — right arm fracture and extensive left leg trauma caused by a bite from SCP-8937-1.

Containment Resolution

SCP-8937's rampage was halted only through the combined efforts of SCP-073, SCP-208, and on-site task force personnel. SCP-8937 and its manifested entities were re-contained following a prolonged engagement.

Post-Incident Notes

All communication attempts with SCP-8937 during the event were ineffective.SCP-8937 refused to disclose information about SCP-8937-1 through -4 during post-incident interviews.Further reinforcement of containment procedures is pending O5 approval.Investigation into the exact cause of the breach and the status of D-7442 is ongoing.

Interview Log [SCP-8937 / Incident "Lights Out"]

Interviewed: SCP-8937

Interviewer: Site Director ███████

Date: 1996-01-08

Location: Site-17, Secure Interview Room 3

Clearance Level: View by Overseer counsel or level 5 personnel only

[0835]

Interviewer: Yesterday you destroyed multiple sections of the eastern wing block. Responsible for one of the biggest containment breaches since the incident with SCP-682. Cause the death of multiple MTF members, researchers, staff members, and D-class personal in this facility. That is not to mention that you failed to disclose information on the other entities in your procession.

Interviewed: [SCP-8937 head is down. Cameras cannot verify current facial expression] It was a simply a moment of weakness and hungry. [SCP-8937 takes a breath and looks at interviewer]. Now, what do you want? Or should I say what does the O-5 want?

Interviewer: O-5 counsel has stated that you are too much of a risk to be assigned any current MTF team.

Interviewed: What does that mean?

Interviewer: It means that half of the O5 want to drop this whole omega-7 idea, before it can even start. It means SCP-8937 that the O5 counsel is wanting to back off on the contract you requested.

Interviewed: What? So, they are going to back out like that. Don't they know that the only reason I am here is because of the deal. That I most remind you, THAT! You, yourself verbally agreed with.

Interviewer: I am aware of that SCP-8937. Fully aware. However, you must remember that Foundation has secured, contained, and protected the world from threats far worse than you.

Interviewed: Ha. How are you planning to contain me? Really I want to know.

Interviewer:  8937, if you can not cooperate with Foundation personnel then we will have to simply end our proposed deal with you.

Interviewed: And what will affect me how exactly? In case you aren't aware I can leave anytime I want to leave.

Interviewer: Your friends wont be able to leave. We have put in place explosion at the orphanage as a contingency plans for you if- [Site director is grabbed by throat by a shadow appendage coming from SCP-8937 shadow, unable to talk]

Intercom: SCP-

Interviewed: What did you say? You would kill innocent children for what? To contain me? To continue your simple goal? I could kill you right now, make everyone forget about everything. Tell me why I shouldn't just kill you now and be done with it? You have 5 seconds. [ SCP-8937 lets go of Site Director]

Interviewer:[Coughs repeatedly] kill….me…and the explosions go off. They are rig to go off from certain events. One of them is killing clearance level 4 or higher personnel. Before you think about it, leave this place without permission and they go off.

Interviewed: [SCP-8937 yells in an unknown language. Grabs table and chair starts throwing said objects across the room. SCP-8937 attempts to physically harm Site Director but stops. A few moments later SCP-8937 stands glaring at the Site Director] I fucking knew I shouldn't have bothered with you people. Explosion at an orphanage. HA. If someone every calls me a monster, I will make sure to point them at you. So, what you plan to have my friends be walking bombs to keep me here?

Interviewer: If that is what it takes, then we will.

Interviewed:[Speaks in unknown language] I don't plan on staying here as a caged animal, and lets be honest with ourselves. I am sure this…your Foundation doesn't want to have a situation where my friends die, and I get to rip and tear this place apart. We are at an impasse. I can't move but neither can you. Agreed?

Interviewer: [Site Director gives me audible sigh] Agreed.

Interviewed: Then we settled this with an official contract like I have been asking for. [A portal is made, SCP-8937 reaches inside the portal and pulls out paper that looks to be made of skin]. Do you speak for the O-5 Counsel? Are they aware of this deal..we are about to make.

Interviewer: What is that?

Interviewed: An official bending contract. What is written here will have to be followed by both parties. For example if we made a contract that said I couldn't harm staff members or whatever, and the same was true for Foundation not harming what I consider my family then that HAS to be. In this case I literally, figuratively, indirectly or an any other fancy way could harm an SCP staff. Or any personnel that fall under the category of said 'staff' terms. On the other hand you the Foundation could not harm anyone I consider a family member. It would be impossible for you to do so. This is a not only a law binding paper work but also a more…direct binding contract. To do this I need to know, do you yourself speak for the Foundation or for yourself?

Interviewer: I

Intercom: Yes, O-5 is aware of this, and Site Director is acting in the best interests of the Foundation. Please continue.

Interviewed: Good. Good. Now the terms will be set for this by the following method. I say what I want, then you say what you want. Then we come together to agree upon said terms and condition let by each party member. I will start my terms and condition are the following. First, the SCP Foundation will provide the best healthcare, dental care, mental health care, clothing, food, and other services or necessities needed for each orphan that was a survivor of and at Playcare. Also, note that if..IF they show any anomalies abilities then they are to be treated as a person and not an SCP. Second, Ashley Ludwig will be made CEO of Playtime until such a time that she is legally old enough to. Third, I myself as designated as SCP-8937 by SCP Foundation will be treated as an actual staff member with the freedoms that it entails and not treated like an SCP. This includes being able to conduct appropriate, and approved research and study. Fourth, I want to have continued ownership of all assets given to me by Benjamin Carter. In summary my conditions are simple. I want to be treated as a staff, not a fucking SCP. I want my friends to be treated the best way possible, and if they do show anomalies abilities then they are to be treated as normal people. Not locked up in containment until the end of the world. And, I want to continue having the assets that rightfully belong to me. Now your turn, what does the Foundation want from me? Oh of course, I forgot to mention but…I will need to be feed humans at least twice weekly. To prevent an…lapse in my normal thinking capabilities.

Interviewer: 8937. We-

Interviewed: Your conditions first, then we bargain.

Interviewer: Very well. The Foundation would first like you to provide all knowledge, resources, aid, and other capabilities to our mission in Securing, Containing, and Protecting anomalies found in our world. You will document any known that you know of Groups of Interest their movements, their weaknesses, their contacts. If you know of anomalies not yet contained, you will tell us where and how to find them. Second, When called upon, you will assist Foundation teams in the field. That includes neutralizing hostile anomalies. It may mean countering threats from rival organizations. It may mean supporting containment during a breach. You will act under direct orders from Level 4 personnel or higher. You will submit to controlled experimentation. Including mental, physical or other test that the Foundation researchers would like to do. Third, you will not harm any Foundation staff members or personnel. You will allow full access to the location where we found you.

Interviewed: I cant give you all the knowledge I have, because well…some if it could kill you. Or, led to the end of the world…I think. Anyway, best I can do is give you information I have on the SCPs, Group of interest, and other none lethal information I know of. That being said if you want me to teach magic or whatever, then that can be a separate part of my job description. I can agree with working with this…place, but I will only follow REASONABLE orders. Not something stupid like do the impossible. Reasonable orders only. I will…be tolerant of experimentation that is both reasonable and not something that will waste my time. I want to kill you really, really badly. But, I can agree to not harming staff members. However, if they kill you then not my problem. As for what I call 'otherworld' full access is not possible. How about we share it? Yeah. That place is free port right? There is no way that one group can hold a free port. It just isn't possible. Especially since I myself cant control where it connects to in this world. There could be a portal that opens up to that place in a bathroom or something. Our best bet is for your organization to let the GOC, UIU and the US government to know about it. Rather that, then us constantly fighting and worrying about another group finding out about it. Just make sure to tell them NOT to go out at night pass the gate. I haven`t cleared that area yet. Don't want people dying, and saying that I had something to do with it.

Interviewer: We can agree to that. Along with your other conditions. It would be much easier to let them know about a new free port.

Interviewed: Exactly, not only that but you could put in safe humanoids in there. The place already has housing, food, water, and other stuff to be a real city. It obviously doesn't have electricity or modern day stuff but that is an easy fix. Think about it [8937 leans in closer to Site Director]. It could be a good place to hold those SCPs that don't really need to be in containment. You just got to make sure they don't leave the place, but hey give it a few years. And, I will clear out more of the area.

Interviewer: We will discuss this all later, after it has been thoroughly test to ensure that there is no side effects to being in this place.

Interviewed: Very well. So you agree with my condition and I agree with your. [SCP-8937 smile widely] Then it is a deal. [SCP-8937 cuts Site Director finger, drawing blood. He then slices his own finger]. PERFECT. Now the blood of the contract has been signed. As of now, if any harms comes to my friends due to the negligence of the SCP Foundation then the contract is null and void. If I harm any SCP Foundation staff members then the contract is null and void. As of now I am an officially employed by the SCP Foundation, and all assets that were confiscated by the SCP Foundation will be given back to me or the contract is null and void. I will have the freedom to continue my work as the current CEO of Playtime, or the contract is null and void. I will have to follow reasonable orders, request, and experimentation or the contract is null and void. Perfect. Oh and I will be feed humans twice weekly or you know…null and void and all that jeez.

Interviewer: I-We never agreed to let you continue working at Playtime. Nor did we agree about the harm of your friends. We only agreed to give them proper care, and not to harm them.

Interviewed: Too bad. Too sad, contract is signed. Now, I am off. I want to kill you, and hate your face. I wish the worse possible death upon you and all you hold dear. I will be at Playtime, cleaning the place up and doing CEO bullshit. Until you give me an official job description, I will be there. Good-bye and I hope you die, and go to hell you heartless fucking bitch. [SCP-8937 disappears into the shadows]
