Chapter 69 - Chapter 68

"its been three days Wendy. You got an answer for me"

The D-class, or Wendy as was her legal name seat in front of me. We were in the quest room. It was the same room I showed her when we first came here. Like I expected Wendy did not show any signs or anything wrong with her. The only difference was that she didn't have that fear in her eyes when we first met. The first time she saw me I knew she was scared of me.

Now, she probably found me to be very annoying. I did some experiments with her, and learned a few things about myself. One I could feed off of fear, or nightmares. I didn't know I could do that. It wasn't something that would 'fill' me up, but it was like having a very small snack throughout the day.

Poor girl, I scared her a few times to 'eat'. The first few times that I scared her, she didn't say anything. However, when she realized that I couldn't harm her she got brave. Called me names and threaten to 'beat your little ass'. It was fun messing with her though.

"Sigh. If I work for you are you going to keep doing this shit to me?"

"Nah. I told you before I am NOT human. I can eat normal food, but that doesn't do anything for me. The only thing I eat are humans, and the fear they make. And hey I did apology the times I did it. I told you to just think of it…as…Halloween. You college white girls are into that stuff right?"

"I would be if it was ACTUALLY Halloween, and not some…nevermind. Yeah, I thought about it."

"And?" I asked, leaning closer to her.

"I always been a gambler so fuck it. I accept. I would rather work with someone I at least know, then an organization that as uses humans for fuck up shit."

"PERFECT! I am happy to have you on my team. Now remember, a few things will happen. One, tell them to fuck off you are with me now. If anyone gives you crap tell them to-

"Fuck off"

"Exactly. Two, you will have a month time to get your shit together. Study, write, whatever you need to do. To get me to be impressed. Hell, I will make it more interesting bonus points if you can get people to work with you on whatever it is you are going. During that month time period, you can ask Onyx for anything you might need."

"Onyx?"

"Think of him as a shadow pet. Just say the 'Onyx I want X thing' and he will deliver it. Onyx is kind of stupid, so be specific with what you want."

"Got. I go back, work on whatever to impress you. I do that I can a multi-billion dollar setup. Ha, go big or go home."

"Ready to leave."

"Yeah. Hey..max..thanks for the whole letting me kill that bastard again. And, for taking care of my sister. Even if I die. I can at least be happy knowing that the son of a bitch is rioting in the worse possible hell, and that my sister is okay."

"No problem Wendy. I hope you win, because killing you and having to eat you would be annoying. Alright lets go."

We were able to portal our way back at Site-17. Thankfully this time Wendy didn't cough up a lung. The guards were on her in an instant. They were going to grab her, and move her into her cell. She looked at me for help, but I merely looked at her waiting to see what she would do. If she was going to work for me, or at least possibility work for me then she needed to have courage. Courage to tell high-ranking powerful people 'fuck you'.

I haven`t forgotten about the Carter family. They were part of an organization that I had many..many..problems with. I didn't like their business ethics, and certainly didn't like their approval in letting Playtime do what it did in Playcare. I know that it was only Benjamin that allowed it, but evil like that needed to be grown. I was evil, but the Carter family was evil, evil.

Wendy, most have understood something about her situation. She kicked the guy in the balls, and said.

"Fuck off. I got a new assignment, and you motherfuckers aint stopping me."

"D-8-" One of the guards said, but I intercepted him

"Sorry, her name is Wendy. Her assignment is temporarily working for me."

"SC-" Dr.Collin tried saying, but I didn't like the guy. He was in the boat of 'SCPs aren't human, and blah blah blah'

"Not an SCP. I am a hired personnel REMEMBER. And, last time I checked I rank higher than you. So, in that case I can have a D-class assistant. Oh, I forgot. Hey Wendy I wont be able to do anything about your cell situation. The only thing that I can do is, make sure you aren't part of any testing beside coming with me to 'otherworld' to see if there are any side effects."

"Fuck me, fine. I was hoping to be able to sleep good. HEY! Wait, you aren't going to fucking pop up and shit scare me right?"

"Nah, you got a free month"

The guards, and the researchers looked at us like we were crazy. I didn't care, and Wendy certainly didn't care. The guards gently this time, escorted back to her cell. Where she was to be guarantee. The researchers had already gotten their samples from her yesterday night. I made sure they got them. The only thing that they needed now was to make sure that she didn't have any illness or virus or what have you.

I heard her foot steps before the sound of her voice reached me.

"Max. Please file an official request next time. Please"

I turned around and saw Selene staring at me with a tried look in her eyes.

"No promises. But, I will try. Seriously though leave her alone. I am doing a test for her."

"A test?"

"Yeah. I like her, and was thinking of making her my secretary. You guys are taking way too long with finding one for me. And, I don't really trust you guys. So, Wendy is doing a test. Oh, and I forget to mention that I told her that she can pick other people to help her. You guys wont miss some D-class here and there"

"That isn't the point of this. The point is you are going against a direct order."

"Am I? I was never order NOT to do this. Also, last time I check I WORKED here. I am a researcher and staff just like you guys. I checked D-class are considered property, and can be bought. I am rich, if I wanted to I could buy Wendy right now and you couldn't do shit about it."

"Fine. I don't want to argue with you on that."

"Cool, do you have any test or whatever you need me to do? If not I plan on doing some important research on certain things."

"No, you aren't scheduled for anything at this time. But-"

"Perfect. Hey you said I need to do a formal request or whatever to do some experimentation right?"

"Yes, but-"

"Alright well. I will be making the request here in a bit. Please look over it, and whatnot. I will be at Playtime, call me if you need me."

I was going to go back to Playtime, but stop myself. I almost forgot to get the research request form. That would have been embarrassing. I made my way towards the observation room. There were some forms there, one of them being a research request form. Basically a form that had what you wanted to research, the funding needed for it, and other such stuff.

It was a pretty easy form to fill out. It didn't take me long to fill out the request form. The thing I wanted to research was the biological modification of certain type of insects. One of them being a friendly insect that could be used as an emotional support animal. An immortal bug, that would always love its 'owner' no matter what it did. The insect would protect its owner, listen to its owner, and even modify itself to fix the need of its owner.

The other thing I wanted was the construction ants. I wanted to make a new species of ants that would be able to do all the job of a construction worker but better. The idea was for a queen ant to have the ability to 'sense' the surrounding area, and make workers based on that need. The queen ant would be given instructions on what that person needed to be built, and the queen ant would start working with her colony. Once the job was 'completed' the worker ants would die, and the queen ant would go into 'rest' mode. Where she would only be called upon if the place was either damaged, needed repairs, or if the person wanted to improve the facility.

I felt like both ideas were good. Especially considering that I worked for a secret organization, and that organization had ties to every other secret organization. I could almost picture them begging me to make them construction ants. The other friendly centipede was…I don't know how well that one would go. But, still.

With the two request forms filled out, I had dream take them into the Site Directors office. I told him to put it on her desk, with a little note from me saying 'Please review, and get back to me as soon as you can. Thank you'

The moment I got back to Playtime, I could feel the hungry coming up. The snacking helped, but wouldn't for long. I wanted a real meal, but rationally told me to wait. I would get my full course meal in a few days. I just needed to wait and be patient.

That being said, I should probably continue my study on biological manipulation, and other cellular science. Even though 'otherworld' is…maybe built in the past. The magical science is way above what I expected. They knew about cells, stem cells, and other crap like that.

The more I learned about Life magic, and nature magic the more I fell in love with it. Necromancy was about souls, communication with undead, the actual dead, and flesh manipulation. But, life magic was about life itself. The meaning of it, the changing of chemistry and the biological makeup of someone. A life archwizard could literally change their DNA. Changing their form, and what not. They could create artificial intelligence creatures, and make life itself.

I wanted to be able to do that. I wanted to be able to create life like that, was just Wow. I was a total nerd when it came to chemistry, biology, and magic. So, you can imagine how big my nerd boner was at finally being able to study it. To actual study it, and not have to deal with learning the magic or stress about whatever else. To actual sit down and learn about this stuff gave me the biggest hard on.

I just hope that the Site Director approves my request as soon as possible. Just thinking about creating new life from those insects is getting me jumpy.

----------------------THIRD POV---------------------

Site Director made her way into her office, after having a meeting with the supervising research teams in their respective progress. She knew that she needed to look over reports, and request about certain experimentation that some of the researchers wanted to run. When she looked at her desk, she noticed a request form with a small note that read.

"Request forms. Please get back to me as soon as possible. Thank you."

She was hesitant to look at what type of request it was, and who it was from. However, she took the forms and starting to read them.

It was two requests. Both were request for the biological, and physical modification of centipede, and of ants. The request stated that the centipede could be modified to be both 'friendly' and used for the psychological betterment of staff personnel. Stating that if staff had 'pets' that both protected them, loved them, and listen to them then the rate of production would increase. And, that the staff motivation would also increase. The request went on to point out the overall benefits of such things. The other request for ants. In the report it was about the modification of ants, to be able to create buildings, facilities, and other structures both underground and above ground. The reported listen the benefits of this particular research, stating that the benefits of it would be the reduce cost of money to build such things. It also stated that these ants could build places that humans normally wont be able to get to. The more the Site Director read, the more she wasn't sure if she should accept this request or not.

The Foundation was in the business of containing anomalies not creating them, however she could see the benefit in having the construction ants on standby. How they would work, and if they were dangerous was something she would have to speak with SCP-8937 about.

The Site Director knew that SCP-8937 had the amount of patience as a child, and was constantly wanting to do something new. The down side of accepting this was giving SCP-8937 more of what it wanted. At the same time, this could be a good way of understanding new ways of science.

The Site Director thought about it, and decided to approve the research of both products. She wouldn't admit to anyone, but she was curious about how both things would turn out. She also listened that the condition of said research was to be conducted at the Site, under a team lead supervision. SCP-8937 could do his research, but it needed to documented, tested and peer reviewed like everyone else.

She just hoped she wouldn't regret this later.
