Chapter 20 - Bloodlines And Schoolbags:Kasi Loyalty Ain't Cheap

Chapter 20: Blood Oaths & Betrayals

The sun hadn't even risen, but Kgosi was already dressed. Black hoodie. Bag strapped tight. The flash drive was zipped in an inner pocket. This was it — the final move. No more hiding. No more guessing who's real.

Today, he was going to meet the man with the scar again. Alone.

Naledi had begged him not to go. Lethabo had even offered to come armed. But Kgosi refused both.

"This is family business," he had told them. "I need to finish what my father started."

---

🕶️ The Meet-Up

Kgosi waited behind an old scrapyard near the edge of Zone 7. The place was quiet, full of burnt cars and bent fences. The kind of place where secrets could die.

Then the silver BMW pulled up. The man stepped out slowly, sunglasses off this time, eyes sharp like a blade.

"You brought it?" he asked.

Kgosi nodded and tossed him the flash.

The man plugged it into a small laptop. "Now, we use the voice clip," he said. "Got it?"

Kgosi handed him the burner phone with the recording.

Click. Play.

> "Bra Styles, tell my son Kgosi he must never trust a man without a scar. If you're hearing this, then I'm gone. And if you have the flash, that means you're ready. Ready to finish what I couldn't."

The laptop clicked. Unlocked.

A folder popped up: "Operation Mamba: Names, Deals, Locations."

---

🧨 What's Inside

The list was wild.

Names of top local gangsters.

Corrupt cops who took bribes.

Even a school principal who used learners to run drugs in exchange for "scholarships."

And right at the bottom... Radebe. Kgosi's old neighbor and family friend. A man he once called "Uncle."

Kgosi's jaw clenched. "So this is why my father died…"

The man nodded. "He got too close to cleaning up. Too many people stood to lose everything."

Kgosi took a deep breath. "Then why give this to me now?"

The man looked him dead in the eyes. "Because I'm tired. And because the streets need a new kind of leader. Someone who won't sell out."

---

⚠️ Trouble Arrives

Suddenly, tires screeched. Another car pulled up.

Radebe. Armed. And angry.

"So this is where you've been hiding, boy," he snarled. "I warned your mother. I told her this life wasn't for you."

Kgosi stood firm. "You killed my father."

"I did what I had to. He turned on the crew. He started acting like he was better than us. He forgot where he came from."

Kgosi took a step forward. "And I haven't."

---

🔥 The Standoff

Guns were pulled.

The man with the scar turned to Kgosi. "You ready to make a choice?"

Kgosi nodded slowly. His heart beat like a war drum.

"I'm not my father. I'm not you either, Radebe. I'm building something new."

He pulled a burner phone and hit send — the file began uploading to a public anonymous blog. Names. Crimes. Everything.

Radebe's face twisted. "You little—"

But it was too late.

Sirens echoed in the distance.

Kgosi turned and walked away as the man with the scar smiled faintly. "Welcome to the real world, leader."

---

🧠 Aftermath

By nightfall, the Kasi was buzzing. Arrests. Panic. The blog had gone viral. Anonymous, but powerful.

And Kgosi? He sat on the same rooftop again.

Naledi joined him.

"You okay?" she asked.

"No," he replied. "But for once, I feel like I did something right."

She leaned on his shoulder. "So what now?"

He looked out over the flickering lights of the township.

"Now… we build something better. No lies. No blood. Just truth."

But deep inside, he knew — the bloodline ran deep.

And loyalty?

Loyalty still ain't cheap.
