Chapter 74 - Fear!

An Apache attack helicopter belonging to the 101st Airborne Division's Combat Aviation Brigade was refueling at a forward fuel and ammunition supply point.

The helicopter's base of operations was typically located at a fixed point far from the front lines, as it consumed a lot of fuel when flying to its target. Therefore, helicopters usually didn't fly directly from their base into the combat zone to carry out missions.

Forward fuel and ammunition supply points were generally located about 50km from the attack position, responsible for fuel and ammunition replenishment, and sometimes served as forward command posts.

At this moment, the attack helicopter hadn't shut down its engines. Once the engine stopped, it couldn't be restarted until the turbine temperature dropped, which was a huge waste of time.

Attack helicopters usually had the capability to refuel while the engine was running, taking only fifteen to twenty minutes to top off the fuel.

"Something big must have happened?"

The ground crew chatted with the two crew members on the helicopter while the refueling was in progress.

"Fifteen special forces members, two patrol teams, and fifteen Afghan villages, not a single survivor."

Hodge, the weapons operator in the front seat, said as he flipped through the mission brief.

The brief stated that the attacker was one person, using a strange cold weapon, and moving at incredible speed. Command was clearly enraged and dispatched an armored mechanized unit, preparing to eliminate the attacker. They were to provide air support.

After refueling, the Apache immediately went to its standby position, hovering in the air. It was 20km from the target area, and as soon as the reconnaissance helicopter and Global Hawk drone captured the target's location, it could immediately move to the attack position and launch an attack.

"Mike, what do you think this attacker actually is?"

Hodge still couldn't believe that one person could inflict such a large loss on the US military. He knew the patrol teams were equipped with tanks. In his opinion, the reason the Green Goblin caused such heavy losses in Mexico was purely because their military was too weak.

"According to those Pashtuns, it's the reincarnation of Genghis Khan's soul, possessed by a sword."

Mike, the pilot in the rear seat, said.

Rumors spread quickly, and some villages were fleeing the area in terror.

Just as the two were chatting in the attack helicopter, the ground forces had already encountered Wang Xuanzhe, controlled by the Star Calamity.

Three M1A2 main battle tanks targeted the enemy two kilometers away. The fire control system on the tanks used a commander-type system. Unlike traditional fire control systems, it separated the sight and the gun, with independent stabilization.

After the gunner used the H-shaped grip to align the sight with the target, the fire control computer automatically calculated the lead, using sensors to measure wind speed, propellant temperature, target distance, angular velocity, inclination angle, and other ballistic corrections, driving the gun servo system to adjust the gun to the lead position.

Soon, the aiming indicator on the sight lit up, indicating that it was ready to fire.

"Boom! Boom! Boom!"

The tanks shook violently from the recoil.

The gunner could see three points of light almost flash and hit the target through the sight.

Be blown to pieces quickly, monster!

He prayed in his heart.

A flash of sparks, and three M908 metal shell casings split open like tofu, the internal fuses and detonators also destroyed by the long sword's qi. The remains of the shells impacted the ground under inertia, kicking up dust.

No explosion!

"Load! Change to depleted uranium armor-piercing rounds!"

The tank commander stared at the scene in front of him in horror. The shell's muzzle velocity exceeded 1400m/s, far exceeding rifle rounds and grenades, yet it was still cut.

The burly black loader immediately pulled an M829A2 armor-piercing round from the ammunition rack and loaded it into the barrel.

"Up!"

The loader shouted loudly, indicating that the loading was complete.

The accompanying infantry fighting vehicles began firing, their M242 Bushmaster chain guns firing at their maximum rate. Tracer rounds filled the sky, like brilliant fireworks.

It was an iron rain of death.

Wang Xuanzhe, like a storm petrel in the rain, moved through the shells, charging towards the armored unit.

"His speed is too fast! Can't aim!"

The gunner's voice sounded somewhat desperate. The field of view of the sight was too small, and he couldn't lock the charging figure in the crosshairs.

"Reverse! Retreat, increase the distance!"

The commander's voice trembled slightly.

"Where are our attack helicopters? Where's our air force guide?"

"Dang!"

The tank's hull suddenly shook violently, and a sharp metal piercing sound almost tore the eardrums of everyone in the vehicle. The driver stared blankly at the tip of a sword protruding in front of him.

"Motherfucker!"

The physical thickness of the M1A2 main battle tank's frontal armor exceeded 700mm. Even sabot rounds would melt into a liquid state during intense friction after penetrating such thick composite armor.

Most RPG warheads could not penetrate this wall of sighs.

Now, it was pierced by a sword.

This magical reality made him think he was still dreaming.

"Gulp..."

Wang Xuanzhe pulled the Star Calamity out of the tank. His sword strike was like a mosquito bite on an elephant. The magic sword's length was too short, barely able to pierce the armor.

He leaped and jumped to the top of the tank, slashing downwards with his sword, immediately creating three sword beams that surged, penetrating the weak top armor, and killing the four people inside.

The accompanying infantry opened fire on him.

Wang Xuanzhe's magic energy surged, and the incoming bullets were completely eroded. He used his magic energy to move and change position, his sword light like a meat grinder, stabbing the resisting soldiers into a hornet's nest.

The tanks and infantry fighting vehicles, like clumsy behemoths, had too small an elevation angle, and couldn't attack Wang Xuanzhe, who was right next to them.

Amidst the roar of the engines, they tried to create distance from Wang Xuanzhe.

"Hah!"

A sword beam, winding and twisting, bypassed the front and penetrated from the side, instantly shredding the crew inside the tank. These powerful modern weapons, in front of the Star Calamity, were vulnerable.

A gasp went through the command center.

They witnessed a powerful armored mechanized unit being slaughtered in minutes, utterly without the ability to resist, through the drone's footage.

They were wiped out too quickly; the attack helicopter twenty kilometers away couldn't even provide support.

If it were the Taliban, it would cost at least three thousand lives to achieve the same results.

"Where are our attack helicopters, and the artillery! Have the artillery cover the entire area! I want to flatten this land completely, even if he is really the ghost of Genghis Khan, I will send him to hell!!"

John Scott, the commander of the US forces stationed in Afghanistan, concealed the fear in his heart with a roar.
