Chapter 87 - The Desire to Become Stronger

His hands were trembling, and it felt like his lungs were filled with iron sand, making it hard to breathe. His body was shaking uncontrollably, and he couldn't summon any strength. Facing the terrifying monster, Peter Parker was on the verge of tears.

The monster's overwhelming strength, sharp claws, and tough scales were all beyond his ability to handle. His Spider-Sense was screaming warnings; if he didn't run, he would be killed!

But he couldn't run. If he ran, everyone on the bridge would die.

"Roar!"

Doctor Lizard roared, his powerful hind legs propelling his massive body into a high leap. He lunged towards Peter, bringing with him a gust of wind.

His huge body was unexpectedly agile. The sharp claws on his front limbs, if they connected, could easily tear through skin and muscle, ripping out soft internal organs.

Peter Parker dodged the attack at the last moment, then delivered a powerful kick to Doctor Lizard's face.

"Doesn't hurt at all, you pathetic bug."

Peter Parker dodged Doctor Lizard's attempted grab, guided by his Spider-Sense. The two of them were now engaged in a chase on the Brooklyn Bridge, which was filled with parked cars.

His punches and kicks had no effect on Doctor Lizard, and the monster's claws, even when they barely grazed him, drew blood and tore at his flesh.

After being dodged several times, the enraged Doctor Lizard tore a section of the bridge railing and swung it at Peter Parker.

Although Peter possessed incredibly fast reflexes due to his Spider-Gene, Doctor Lizard wasn't far behind. Soon, he was in a precarious position.

"Boom!"

Doctor Lizard's long tail struck Peter Parker, sending him flying and crashing into the trunk of a car. The impact caved in the trunk, and the car slammed into the car in front of it, triggering a piercing alarm.

Peter Parker felt pain everywhere. He tried to get up, but a huge claw grabbed his head and slammed him back against the car.

"What a pathetic savior. The people you saved are fleeing, and not a single one is helping you. Hahaha, they only dare to hide in the shadows and survive, watching their savior get killed by me."

Doctor Lizard laughed maniacally. Peter, pinned against the car, struggled violently, but the disparity in strength was too great; it was futile.

"Truly weak, these ordinary mortals."

He raised the railing, preparing to impale Peter.

Am I going to die?

Peter Parker tried to pry open the giant claw holding his head, but it was as unyielding as cast iron.

Fear consumed him. His Spider-Sense was still screaming warnings, but ultimately, death seemed inevitable.

Wait! Something's coming from the sky!

Peter widened his eyes, looking up at the sky.

"Boom!"

A black shadow landed on the car, its heavy body crushing the vehicle further.

Broly, carrying a metal box, surveyed Doctor Lizard. After injecting the Lizard Gene, his body had expanded significantly. Broly had to stand on the mangled remains of the car to be at the same height as him.

"Roar!"

Doctor Lizard was startled at first, then immediately dropped Peter Parker and attacked Broly.

The heavy iron railing whistled through the air as it swung towards Broly.

The attack missed.

Doctor Lizard felt the railing sink. Broly's shadow appeared on the other side of the railing. Including the metal box on his shoulder, he weighed over a ton. The leverage made it impossible for Doctor Lizard to lift the railing.

"Clang!"

The heavy iron railing fell to the ground. Doctor Lizard, baring his fangs and claws, lunged towards Broly.

Before he could react, his head was grabbed. A force beyond comprehension slammed his head against the bridge.

"Boom!"

Peter Parker, who had been thrown away, felt the bridge tremble.

The concrete bridge surface cracked under Doctor Lizard's head, creating a spiderweb pattern and a large depression. He felt like his skull was about to be crushed, and his tough scales were now bloody and mangled.

"Roar!"

He roared in anger, struggling to stand up.

"Boom!"

The giant force from above came again, and Doctor Lizard's head was slammed back into the bridge. The bridge shook violently, revealing the steel rebar beneath the concrete.

This time, his skull was truly shattered, and foul-smelling blood and brain matter gushed from the wound. Doctor Lizard showed incredible regenerative abilities, and despite the severe brain trauma, he healed in a very short time.

Broly was a little annoyed. He was afraid he might accidentally use too much force and kill Doctor Lizard. But if he used too little, it wouldn't have much effect with the monster's terrifying recovery.

After a moment's thought, he released his grip.

Doctor Lizard, now free, let out a mournful cry. Even with his personality and judgment altered by the Lizard Gene, he knew that he was no match for this being.

Before he could run a few steps.

"Bang!"

An iron fist slammed into his abdomen, the powerful force penetrating his muscles and obliterating his internal organs.

Doctor Lizard collapsed to the ground, violently coughing up his organs.

Even for him, it would take several minutes to regenerate his internal organs that had been turned into minced meat.

With the help of Peter Parker, Gwen Stacy, and Tessa Eagle, the medicine Doctor Lizard used was more perfect than the one in the original movie. After such a brutal fight, he still hadn't transformed back into a human.

Broly tore off a long piece of railing. The sturdy steel was as soft as cloth in his hands. With a burst of Inner Energy, he coiled the railing around Doctor Lizard.

He lifted Doctor Lizard and stacked him on the metal box, preparing to leave.

"Wait, sir, can you teach me how to become stronger?"

Peter Parker's face, bruised by Doctor Lizard, was revealed as his Spider-Man mask was torn apart. Because he didn't invent the web-shooters like in the movies, he could only watch as Doctor Lizard threw the car off the bridge.

At least a dozen people drowned, trapped in their cars, and sank into the river, with almost no chance of survival.

This sense of helplessness tore at Peter's heart, making him question if his previous decision was right. Maybe gaining such great power meant he should stand up to protect the weak, instead of letting it go to waste.

"I have no obligation to teach you, but you could try 100 push-ups, 100 sit-ups, 100 squats, and a 10-kilometer run every day. Maybe you'll get stronger."

He could see that Peter Parker had yet to tap into his full potential. After gaining this power that exceeded human limits, he hadn't even tried to train to become stronger.

And even if training didn't do anything, at least it would be easier to wear a head covering when he goes bald.
