Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Taking Matters Into My Own Hands!

Just by having a few guards devoured, Lance had already grown far stronger than he had ever been before.

If he now fed Kuro the pirate prisoners—those with real strength—his power would become greater than ever imagined!

"Yes… Master wants strength… Kuro… loves tasty things… kill them all…"

The moment Lance gave the command, Kuro charged off, randomly picking a cell. With a twist of his arms, he bent the iron bars and dove into the cell for another massacre.

"Hm? It's not just me… Kuro's getting stronger too!"

Noticing subtle signs, Lance realized that Kuro's power was also increasing rapidly—not just his own.

"In that case, these prisoners definitely need to die."

By feeding on these criminals, not only would he grow stronger, but so would Kuro.

When that happened, Lance would be ready to face any enemy.

"Damn it! Where are those useless guards?! They always show up when no one wants them, but when I actually need help, they're nowhere!"

"Someone help! There's some black shadow killing us—save me! Help!!"

"Let me out! I don't want to die, please let me out!"

Every time Kuro entered a cell, screams followed. Horrified wails echoed through the prison halls.

The remaining prisoners, unable to see what was happening, felt nothing but rising dread—like a dark wave was closing in, swallowing everything. Pure terror clawed at their minds.

Meanwhile, guards had finally taken notice and began rushing over.

But Lance didn't need Kuro for these ones.

"It's time I tested my own strength too."

A cold glint flashed in Lance's eyes.

Standing in the hallway, he raised a rifle and aimed toward a corner ahead.

Soon, a guard rounded the bend.

Bang!

Without hesitation, Lance fired—killing the guard instantly.

"Not only did I absorb their strength… but also their shooting technique? Their accuracy? Did Kuro pass that on to me as well?"

"This Ajin System… it's incredible."

Before transmigrating, Lance was just an average civilian—he had never touched a gun in his life.

But now? Holding it felt natural. Every move, every action flowed perfectly, like he was born to wield it. No fumbling, no mistakes.

Clearly, this was knowledge absorbed from the guards Kuro had devoured.

Bang!

Another shot. Another guard down.

"He's got a gun!"

"Take cover and fire blind!"

The guards weren't stupid. Two of them had been killed cleanly—both headshots. They weren't about to charge forward like idiots.

They pressed against the wall by the corner and blindly opened fire down the hall.

Lance narrowed his eyes and dove aside.

But there were too many bullets. Even with his improved reflexes, he couldn't dodge them all.

Thud!

A burst of pain erupted in his thigh—he'd been hit.

"Getting shot hurts like hell… All of you are dead!"

Gritting his teeth, Lance dragged his injured leg and charged through the hail of bullets.

He was shot again and again. Despite his enhanced body, bullets were still deadly.

Eventually, a round hit his heart. Lance collapsed to the ground.

And somewhere in the prison, Kuro's rampage came to a sudden halt—his body collapsing into black particles.

"He's dead!"

"That damn maniac is finally dead!"

"How dare he cause chaos in here—cut up his body and feed it to the dogs!"

The guards, relieved, stepped out from cover.

None of them noticed the swirl of black sand seeping from Lance's body…

The next moment, Lance's eyes shot open. He kicked off the ground, launching himself straight at a guard.

BOOM!

A single punch. Lance's strength—amplified by Kuro's endless consumption—was no longer human.

It was like a truck had hit him. The guard's head exploded from the impact, his body slamming into the wall and collapsing into a shallow crater—dead on the spot.

"And now for the rest of you."

Lance didn't pause. After that first blow, he landed on his toes and immediately followed with a brutal roundhouse kick.

"Is this… one of the pirate prisoners' techniques? Thank you for offering your lives to help me."

The kick slammed into a guard's face, twisting his head completely around. Another instant kill.

"He's not dead?! Shoot him! Kill him now!"

The other guards finally reacted, raising their guns to fire.

But they were already too slow.

Lance's punches and kicks flowed like water—fluid, flawless. Every move was executed with instinctual mastery, as if he had trained for years.

Within mere seconds, all ten reinforcements were slain on the spot.

"Kuro."

Lance calmly called.

"Master…"

The black sand gathered and reshaped into Kuro's familiar bandaged form. Tilting his head, he responded with a raspy voice.

"It's time for you to enjoy your feast."

Lance pulled a cigarette from his pocket, lit it, took a long drag, and walked off without looking back.
