Chapter 2 - Breaking the rule

Some time passed after the Venter left, and Danver finished his work. "Finally, it's over, but has Grandpa still not come back?" as he finished his work and went to see his grandpa, but when he arrived, he heard that Venter was still having a conversation with that mysterious person, and he overheard their conversation.

"… ok, most of the things I asked for are present here, and about the remaining ones…" Venter said as he finished browsing the items in the bag.

"Don't worry, I will bring them on the next visit," – the mysterious person said as it cut Venter's sentence, adding further that

"By the way, this is the report that came from the blood you gave me. Those 2 are fine; no abnormalities for now, but yours… You might be aware yourself that you don't have much time, right? Only a medical master can relieve your pain now."

"Yes, I know that, and I also know that he won't help me; he has no reason to help me and become a target of others himself, and he is an arrogant person as well. That's why I am asking you to take care of them after me; no one knows about them, and no one should know about them."

"I know that very well; you don't need to tell me anything about that."

"Thank you, and thanks for this report as well."

"Sigh, age has finally started to get to your brain now, huh, for you to thank me."

"What? What do you mean by that? I am not that old, you know. See—" *crack!* "M...my back."

"Sigh... how many times have I told you not to do those things? Consider your age before that, here," the mysterious person says as it lends its hand to help him.

"But I was cool, right...", right... right... right... Venter said as his voice echoed.

*thadum*

"Aghaaa, why would you throw me? It's painful."

"With jokes like that, I don't think you need my support, so I am leaving; the remaining things will be brought in the next visit."

"No, help me please, my back, Ahaa."

...

Whereas Danver overhears the whole conversation and leaves without meeting the master.

After some time, Venter returns and finds Danver resting.

"Did you finish your work?" Venter asked Danver, but he didn't reply.

"What happened? Why are you so silent? If you completed it, then get back to other work."

"Oh, nothing, master, and yes, I have completed my work, master. By the way, what did they bring this time?"

"Nothing interesting for you."

"Ehh, they come once every 2 to 3 months. Can't you ask them to bring what I asked for? It's hard to do everything manually on my own."

"Hah, do you think I care? Work even after you die so that my precious granddaughter Hana-Chan can live peacefully; think of this as your training."

"Yes-yes, it is my training only, although I am also your grandson, you know."

"Huh, what are you talking about? Adopted people have no rights; everything belongs to Hana only, so just get back to work."

"By the way, where is my precious Hana Chan? Hana Chan, here I come." And just like that, Venter leaves.

"Sigh, what a terrible grandpa, even though Hana is the same also," he says and continues back to work, but as he continues, he can't get what that person said out of his mind.

And then, for some reason unknown to him, he keeps remembering what his master said to him many times—"Don't leave this mountain ever in your life" It is set as an unknown rule that should never be broken at all, no matter the cost.

And just keeps thinking about that all the time

Then just like that, time passes, and the night arrives.

Danver was sitting at the cliff's end on a fallen tree trunk while lighting a small fire, looking at the horizon where the endless forest below the cliff meets.

"How's Hana?" Danver says as Venter arrives from behind silently.

"Sigh, she slept early, as she was tired from all the training she did today. She was especially enthusiastic today, and your detection skill was as fascinating as always." Venter replied as he came near and also sat on the tree trunk beside Danver.

"Did you have another dream today?" Venter asks Danver as he looks in the fire.

"Nothing can be hidden from you, huh?" Danver replied with a little smile.

"So was it the same this time as well, or was it different?"

"Same dream as always, where it's dark everywhere, but it's lighted by some yellowish light, then there's red water everywhere, and the cursed screams can be heard from every direction."

"Hmm, don't pay attention to those things; here, take this. This will help you in your sleep." Venter says as he hands over some pills to Danver.

"So, there was indeed something for me this time, huh?"

"Hmm, don't get cocky just for one thing, you brat. Go to sleep now; that is also one type of training." Venter said as he stood up and left Danver alone.

Danver looked at the pills for some time, then extinguished the fire and went back to sleep.

Next Morning

*Yawn* "Today was the day to get some firewood, right? Strange, normally, he should be the one to wake me up on this type of day. Hah, he is still growing after all. Let's go and wake him up," Venter said and decided to go and wake Danver up so they could go and cut some wood from trees.

But as Venter pays attention, he can't feel the presence of Danver near the house or anywhere.

"Huh, strange. He usually doesn't hide his presence. What is he planning to do...?"

"Wait, someone just crossed the mountain range. The resources just arrived tomorrow, so leaving it, no one is allowed to come near this mountain. Don't tell me." He rushed to the place where he had placed the report file.

"That brat—he listened to everything." Venter goes through the files, and he notices that only the medical report of himself was missing, and it looked like he didn't even open any other files and particularly searched for Venter's file only.

"No, no, no, it's a disaster; he should not get out of this mountain at all costs, that idiot rascal," Venter said as he got terrified and angry at the same time.

"I am also an idiot; I should have paid more attention to it. Ahh, shit."

"I need to stop him; it's dangerous, but I can't leave this mountain because if I did, then they won't remain still as well, and then there is also Hana; I can't leave her alone either."

"Fuck this situation." Venter gets angry and frustrated at the same time.

"Now it comes to this: you are the last person whom I can rely on. Be his shadow and follow him; don't let him get emotional at all, and only appear if it's an emergency. GO," Venter says while looking at the deep forest in the mountain.

"YES, as your order," *shish* a voice came from nowhere, and then suddenly a quick burst of wind followed.

"I need to write a letter that it's an emergency and we can't wait for 2-3 months." Venter thinks as he starts to look for paper and a pen to write a letter.

*You brat, you should not have to be concerned about such trivial things, you idiot.* Venter thinks as he continues to write a letter.
