Chapter 145: Ice Cream Made of Meat!
Yurine refused to suffer social death!
Ryohei Tanaka could understand her reasoning. If her family discovered them in the middle of that, it wouldn't just be Yurine; he would feel like dying of embarrassment too.
So...
...
"Then... tomorrow it is!"
The kiss continued until they were both a little breathless. When they finally separated, a silvery thread of saliva connected their lips for a moment before breaking. Ryohei wiped his moist lips, his heart pounding as he looked at Yurine. Her face was flushed, her eyes shimmered with a watery glisten, and her breathing was slightly ragged.
The time was finally coming! How exciting!
Thinking of the two "lightbulbs" at home, he added in a cheerful tone, "Why don't we stay somewhere else tomorrow night?"
"Mhm, okay."
Yurine had also thought about the third wheels at home. Ryohei's suggestion was exactly what she wanted.
Ryohei smiled and took his phone out of his pocket. "Then let's book a hotel. Do you have any requests?"
"Book one with a nice atmosphere," Yurine answered without a second thought.
"Of course. Anything else?" Ryohei asked as he opened his browser and searched for "nice hotels in Tokyo."
"Don't book one that's too far. I have school the day after tomorrow," Yurine said, walking over to his side with her hands behind her back, looking curiously at his phone screen.
"Understood," Ryohei replied.
He ended up booking a room in Minato Ward at The Prince Park Tower Tokyo, specifically a Tower View Room on the 27th floor. According to the reviews, the night view was exceptional, offering a panoramic view of the entire city, including a clear, unobstructed view of the Tokyo Tower.
...
That evening, Ryohei cooked dinner again. The next morning, he woke up early to prepare breakfast. He completely spoiled Yurine's family with his cooking. By the time he was leaving, they were all incredibly reluctant to see him go. Her father, mother, and grandfather all kept telling him things like, "Come visit often," and "Drop by whenever you have time."
They paid so little attention to Yurine that she was left feeling a bit speechless, momentarily unsure of who their actual child was.
Ryohei just chuckled and agreed to their requests before driving away from the Hanazono Inari Shrine with Yurine.
"We'll go home first, then after lunch, we can head to the hotel," Ryohei said, his hands on the steering wheel, glancing at Yurine in the passenger seat. Check-in wasn't until after noon. Medusa had sent him a message yesterday about bringing a local specialty, so he had invited her to stay and eat with them before she left.
"We're going to the hotel right after lunch?" Yurine's eyebrows shot up in surprise. She turned to look at him, a slight blush on her cheeks.
"Mhm. We'll check in first, then we can walk around the area, maybe buy some clothes, and kill some time. There are a lot of shopping malls nearby..." Ryohei laid out the plan for the day.
Yurine thought that sounded perfect. She had been wanting to get a set of "decisive battle underwear," so their plans aligned perfectly.
...
It was not yet nine o'clock when they arrived back at the house. Ryohei walked into the living room and saw that everyone was there, even Lucoa. They were all sitting on the sofa, watching a variety show.
"Ohayo," Ryohei said, waving a greeting. He went to the large, double-door refrigerator and opened it. He scanned the contents, then took out a beautifully wrapped gift box. He turned to Medusa. "Medusa, is this the Dark Unicorn tenderloin you were talking about?"
"Yes!" Medusa stood up from the sofa, her purple bob swaying slightly. She walked gracefully toward Ryohei on her slender, pale legs and answered in her soft voice.
The moment Lucoa saw Ryohei, she had already gotten up from the sofa and approached him. "Is this what Medusa brought? Are you making it now?" she asked with a smile.
"I'm just taking it out to thaw. We'll have it for lunch," Ryohei replied casually. He placed the gift box on the counter and opened it. Inside was a large, vacuum-sealed steak with exquisite marbling. The deep red meat was interwoven with a fine, snow-like pattern of fat, and both the lean meat and the fat seemed to glisten. It was clearly a magnificent cut of meat.
Ryohei subconsciously began to plan out how he would cook it.
Medusa leaned over the kitchen counter, her hands resting on it. "It's best pan-seared or grilled," she said, looking at the rare ingredient she had worked so hard to obtain. "Some demons also like to slice it thin and eat it as sashimi."
"I've had it all ways!" Minos chimed in, joining them enthusiastically. "It's delicious seared or grilled, and the sashimi is amazing too! The meat isn't gamy at all; it has a rich, milky fragrance and a sweet, nutty flavor. It's not greasy, and the texture is springy and tender... it's like eating 'ice cream made of meat'!"
"Ice cream made of meat?"
Ryohei looked at Minos in surprise. What kind of description was that? It sounded bizarre, but he had to admit, it piqued his interest. "In that case, let's pan-sear it later, and we'll slice some up for sashimi to try..."
The steak was quite large. Ryohei had noticed the "3KG" label on the box, which meant it was over six pounds. There was more than enough to cut six steaks and still have plenty left for sashimi.
"Whatever you say!" Minos said, happily swishing her silver-white cow tail.
Seeing them all talking so excitedly, Jashin-chan, who had been sitting alone on the sofa, couldn't stand it any longer and got up to join them. By the time she got there, however, their conversation was just ending.
Jashin-chan could only look from side to side before asking, "Where's Yurine? Did she not come back?"
"She went upstairs," Ryohei answered.
