Adrian's POV
"Hmm?" She blinked slowly.
"Don't be scared. You're safe." I squeezed her hand. "I'm here. You're safe."
She nodded slowly, some color returning to her pale face.
"Listen to me carefully," I said, keeping my voice calm and steady even though everything inside me was screaming to rush in there and tear the place apart. "Alicia is in there. I'm going to go inside and get her. But you—you're staying here in the car."
"What? No, I want to—"
"No!" I cut her off. "You're staying here. No matter what happens, you do not get out of this car. Do you hear me?"
"Adrian, I can help—"
"Seraphina." I pressed my finger gently against her lips, silencing her. "You're going to stay right here. Take my phone. Call the police. Tell them where we are. Okay?"
She gave me a look that clearly said she wanted to argue, wanted to come with me, wanted to help. But I couldn't let her. I didn't know what I'd find in that factory.
