"Our relationship," he answered.
I stood there, stunned, staring at him like he'd just spoken a foreign language.
Was he joking? Pulling my leg? But his expression was dead serious. There was no trace of mockery or fun, just sincerity.
"I want to try being your husband," Adrian continued, his dark eyes locked on mine. "Your real husband. Your mate. So, do you want to give me a chance?"
I pursed my lips, my mind racing. "So you're going to let go of your hatred?"
He nodded without hesitation. "Yes."
"Are you sure?" I pressed. "What if tomorrow you change your mind and start hating me again?"
"That won't happen."
"But what if it does?"
A small smile tugged at his lips. "Then how about you slap me?"
My eyes widened. "I don't want to slap you!"
"Can't bear to hurt me?" he teased, that smile growing.
Heat flooded my face, and I quickly looked away. "That's not—I just—"
