High above, Ethan watched the council meeting through the interface.
He saw Kael's caution. He heard their discussion. But more than that, he saw something others didn't.
He saw the words that hovered on the screen.
[Unknown Species Detected — Provisional Identification: Human]
Ethan stared at those words, his expression calm.
Humans, Ethan thought.
He leaned back against his throne, his mind racing.
So, I've encountered them…
He had expected this, somewhere in the back of his mind. He didn't know when or where, but he had expected to encounter humans; there were humans in this world.
The familiar face of the strangers who looked just like you but weren't.
Though he had expected the encounter, he couldn't help but feel a strange feeling tugging at his heart.
Perhaps it was their familiar appearance.
He couldn't be sure about it. But he couldn't dismiss this strange feeling either.
