Uchiha Hikaru nearly popped his eyes out at that comment.
He was only six years old, and this guy was already talking to him about marriage? Wasn't that a bit too early?
But after speaking, Uchiha Ang actually felt that what he said made perfect sense.
Originally, he had come here with something else to say, but when he saw Uchiha Hikaru's Mangekyō Sharingan, he was so shocked he forgot his original intention.
With a talent like Uchiha Hikaru's, it was a great idea to get him a wife early.
Not only could it ensure the continuation of his exceptional bloodline, but it might also subtly pull Uchiha Hikaru, who had already drifted from the clan's position, back closer to Uchiha's camp.
As far as Uchiha Ang was concerned, his granddaughter Uchiha Chiri would be a great candidate for that role. So he said directly:
"Hikaru-kun, my granddaughter Chiri has always admired you. Why don't the two of you start spending time together?"
Uchiha Hikaru deactivated his Sharingan, rolled his eyes, and replied irritably,
"I'm only six. I'm not in a rush."
"Also, Chiri is in the same class as me. Don't lie to my face like that, seriously."
Uchiha Ang just chuckled, not looking the slightest bit offended.
"Oh? You're classmates? That must be fate!"
"With such destiny, why not arrange a betrothal first?"
Uchiha Hikaru no longer wanted to entertain Uchiha Ang.
No matter what he said, Ang would twist it back to selling Chiri.
But another person was present in the room—Uchiha Noboru.
He was equally shocked by Uchiha Hikaru's talent, but his mind wasn't as quick to shift gears as Ang's.
He first poured a cup of tea for Uchiha Hikaru, gave him an apologetic glance, then walked over to Ang and said:
"Father, we have important matters to discuss. Please calm down."
Only then did Uchiha Ang sober up.
Realizing how out of line he'd just been, he quickly took a sip of tea to cover up his embarrassment.
The room fell into an awkward silence.
In the end, it was Uchiha Hikaru who broke it.
He set down his teacup, looked steadily at the two men across from him, and spoke calmly:
"I assume Clan Head Ang didn't call me here just to talk about marriage."
"If there's something to say, please get to the point."
Uchiha Ang's eyes grew slightly complicated as he looked at the boy before him.
If it weren't for the size and childlike face, who would believe this was a six-year-old?
He refilled Hikaru's cup and finally spoke:
"Hikaru-kun, you may have awakened the Mangekyō, but did you know? Everyone who does… eventually goes blind."
Uchiha Hikaru of course knew that.
He didn't yet have access to another pair of Mangekyō from a blood relative, so Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan was off the table for now.
But thanks to the Idle Training System, that defect could be removed entirely. So he wasn't worried at all.
Naturally, Uchiha Ang had no idea what Hikaru was really thinking.
In his mind, no matter how mature Hikaru was, hearing this would still shake him.
No one could remain calm upon learning that the power of the Mangekyō would cost them their sight.
Uchiha Ang waited for a reaction—but didn't get one. Hikaru was too calm.
Unable to help himself, Ang finally asked:
"Hikaru-kun, aren't you worried? You're only six this year—at this rate, you might be blind before you even come of age."
Hikaru glanced at him and replied flatly:
"That's not something Clan Head Ang needs to worry about. My affairs are mine to handle."
"If there's nothing else, I'll be going now."
He tidied his clothes and stood up.
Just as he prepared to release the seal and leave, Uchiha Ang finally revealed his true purpose.
"Hikaru-kun, have you ever considered becoming Hokage?"
That one sentence made Hikaru pause mid-motion.
Truthfully, he had expected this before even arriving.
It was obvious—the reason the Uchiha had summoned him was most likely to push him toward becoming Hokage.
After all, having a Hokage from the Uchiha Clan would deeply satisfy the clan's longing for honor and recognition.
So once they knew he had likely awakened the Mangekyō, their first thought would be the Hokage seat.
And indeed, Hikaru's future goals did include that position—but he wanted something more.
He didn't want to be the Uchiha who became Hokage.
He wanted to be the Hokage who took in the Uchiha.
There's a world of difference between the two.
Hikaru turned to face Uchiha Ang, who sat there composed, like a true clan leader.
"If Hikaru-kun is willing to marry my granddaughter," Ang said, "then the Uchiha will give you our full support to become Hokage."
Hikaru laughed.
Not just a chuckle—an actual, full-on laugh.
Uchiha Ang's brows creased, and his fingers tightened around the teacup.
Because from that laugh, he heard disdain… and mockery.
Sure enough, the next words made him freeze.
"What made you think I needed your support to become Hokage?"
"And what gave you the confidence to believe you could control me?"
The moment those words fell, a terrifying wave of chakra burst forth.
A pressure shockwave radiated outward, knocking over everything around him.
The floor beneath his feet cracked like a spider web, and overwhelming force bore down on the two Uchiha elders.
Every fiber of their beings screamed at them to run—to flee from the boy in front of them.
Uchiha Ang could hardly believe that this short, childlike figure could make him feel such fear.
Only now did he realize—perhaps he had gravely underestimated Uchiha Hikaru.
Sarutobi Hiruzen, and even Danzo, whom he executed… both had fallen at this boy's hand.
And Hiruzen was killed right in front of everyone—without a sound.
If they hadn't been from the same clan, no one would have noticed.
The things the Uchiha wanted to accomplish? Hikaru had done them better.
Even the internal Sharingan awakening experiments within the clan were somehow connected to him.
Now that Ang thought back on his approach—trying to manipulate Hikaru with the Mangekyō's blindness, then with the lure of the Hokage title—he felt downright foolish.
He never once considered that Uchiha Hikaru might not need their help.
But rather, that the Uchiha Clan… needed him.
The Uchiha had always admired strength. And Hikaru was someone worth following.
Finally understanding this, a flicker of resolve passed through Uchiha Ang's eyes.
He walked up to the still-laughing Uchiha Hikaru, dropped to one knee, and said:
"Lord Hikaru… the Uchiha will support you, from now on—unconditionally."
