Chapter 66 - Be My Cat

Chapter 66: Be My Cat

"Orion," you stated your name, swallowing the last bite of honey cake.

"Cipher... do you come in so easily every day? Aren't you afraid of being discovered?"

Cipher chuckled, a hint of self-satisfaction in her voice. "I still have that much ability. But you, are you planning to just wait here to die?"

You fell silent for a moment, a ruthlessness unbefitting your age flashing in your golden eyes. "I want them to pay the price. Can you help me? Or... teach me your skills?"

A hint of surprise flashed in Cipher's eyes, but it was immediately covered by a deeper interest. "Oh? Is the Little Wildcat finally showing her claws? Teaching you isn't impossible, but," she tilted her head, revealing her small fangs, like a cunning cat, "why should I help you for free? Unless... you can offer something that interests me in exchange."

You thought for a moment, then shook your head. "Nothing... I have nothing right now. Teach me or don't. If not, I'll figure out another way."

Cipher was stunned. She looked at you, seemingly evaluating your worth. After a while, she suddenly laughed. "Alright, you Little Wildcat have quite the backbone. Since you're so interesting... how about this: you come be my little cat, listen to me from now on, and I'll teach you some things. How about it?"

"Little cat?" You were a bit confused.

"It means following me and listening to me. Are you willing?"

"Yes."

Over the next few days, Cipher would stay a little longer when she delivered food. She began to teach you the basics—how to hide your aura, how to move in the dark without making a sound, how to use tools to escape, and even some simple tricks and secret codes used among thieves.

You displayed astonishing learning ability. Many things she only taught once, and you could infer other things from it, which made Cipher exclaim in wonder.

One day, Cipher accidentally supported your shoulder. A faint power came from the point of contact, instantly surging into your body. You clearly perceived that it was Cipher's agility, dexterity, and subtle perception of the environment! Your body felt as if it had become lighter!

After Cipher left, you found that your footsteps were so light they couldn't be heard, your ears could catch faint insect chirps from afar, and your eyes could even see the outlines of objects in the dark. You possessed all of Cipher's abilities for one day!

When it was deep into the night, after confirming it was safe, you used the techniques Cipher taught you to easily open the large lock through the door crack and slipped out of the room that had imprisoned you. You moved silently through the shadows of the mansion, like a true cat.

After that, you not only acted at night but also started to slip out during the day. The market in Dolos City was noisy and bustling, with the shouts of various vendors rising and falling. You weaved through the crowd, your gaze sweeping over the dazzling array of goods, picking out some food or trinkets, and then, when no one was looking, you would casually pocket them.

This day, you passed a weapon shop, and your gaze was drawn to a dagger hanging on the wall. You just looked at it a few more times, and a thought flashed in your mind: "If only I could have a dagger like that."

As soon as the thought crossed your mind, you felt a slight weight in your hand. Opening your palm, a dagger exactly like the one you had seen lay quietly in your palm. You were a bit stunned. This dagger... how did it appear out of thin air?

You did not take the real dagger from the weapon shop, but brought this strange dagger in your hand back to that dark room. However, in less than half a day, the dagger turned into specks of light before your eyes and vanished without a trace.

You recalled the various legends of the Chrysos Heirs. Was this, perhaps, an innate ability of being a Chrysos Heir? You quickly became familiar with this wonderful ability.

Not just daggers, but any weapon you had ever seen and wished to possess could appear in your hand with a thought. What surprised you even more was that no matter what weapon it was, once it was in your hands, it felt like an extension of your body, easy to use, as if you had practiced it thousands of times. This gave you even more confidence in your revenge.

This day, a commotion suddenly erupted outside. You heard the servants' panicked discussions: "What's going on? It's almost noon, why is it still dark?" For the next few days, daylight never returned. The entire Dolos City, and even the entire Amphoreus, was plunged into eternal night. Panic spread like a plague.

Finally, the definite news arrived—Aegler, the Titan who governed the sky and light, had been slain by a powerful Chrysos Heir. The Black Tide swept across the land, and the world was left with only endless eternal night.

This news was like a ladle of boiling oil poured into the already turbulent public resentment. "It's all those Chrysos Heirs' fault! They brought this disaster!" "Monsters! God-slaying monsters!"

You didn't care about this. Eternal night, on the contrary, made your actions more unhindered and made the implementation of certain plans more convenient. After some more time passed, you felt that the time was ripe.

You decided—

Escape during the eternal night to a place where no one knows you.

Take advantage of the night to kill Uncle's family.

Brew a wicked plan for revenge.

Orion pondered for a moment. Escaping was definitely not an option. Just killing them... as mentioned before, it was too simple, not satisfying enough.

"I choose 3."

[You had a definite plan in your heart, Villain Value +200.]

A week later, all preparations were quietly completed. Last night, the gray-haired girl with cat ears told you that she would be leaving Dolos City for two days to run an errand. So you did not include her in your plan. You intended to complete this matter alone.

It was just dawn, of course, now it was just a habitual saying, because under the eternal night, there was no distinction between dawn and dusk. You slipped out of the mansion and handed a carefully prepared letter to the city's messenger, who specialized in delivering messages, and paid him enough to expedite the delivery. Then, as you passed a strong Mountain Dweller, you touched him—the Mountain Dweller's immense strength surged into your body like a tide.

Having done all this, you calmly returned to your uncle's mansion. You did not go back to that secluded small room but walked directly towards the brightly lit main hall of the mansion.

Several passing servants and guards saw you, first stunned, then their faces showing a mix of fear and disgust, and they opened their mouths to shout. You did not give them a chance. A cold light flashed in your hand, and a dagger that appeared out of thin air swiftly cut across their throats at a speed they couldn't react to. Blood splattered, and they fell one after another, their faces filled with disbelief.

After dealing with the unnecessary people, you leisurely walked to the long table in the center of the hall and sat down, even picking up a pastry from the table and slowly savoring it.

"You... how dare you come out! And steal my family's things!" At this moment, your "brother's" voice came from the staircase. He had just woken up and saw you sitting there calmly, enjoying his family's food, and immediately became enraged. But he quickly remembered that he couldn't beat you, and he was also a little afraid, not daring to step forward, he could only shout loudly: "Someone! Quick, someone! Grab this little monster for me!"

However, only dead silence answered him.
