Chapter 84 - Chasing Fire

Chapter 84: Chasing Fire

You were silent for a moment. "I don't know," you finally said.

Cipher stared at you for a long time, then, saying nothing, simply reached out and pulled you along. "Forget it, no matter who it is, he is a good person since he helped us. Let's go, let's go back and find the Tailor Woman; she must be worried about us."

Under the eternal night, two small figures walked on the road back to Ohema. The sky of Dolos seemed not as dark as before.

When you returned to Ohema and arrived at Aglaea's Weaving Workshop, she was looking out at the street entrance. Seeing you return safely, the worry on her face instantly changed to relief. "It seems the situation in Dolos is better than imagined."

Cipher excitedly jumped in front of her. "Tailor Woman! You don't know, those Little Wildcats are all fine! And the new Marquis is even going to build a shelter for them!"

Aglaea smiled slightly, but her gaze fell on you. "That's good. So, do you still plan to... continue to live here?"

"Well..." Cipher scratched her head, then suddenly leaned closer to Aglaea, lowering her voice. "Tailor Woman, tell me honestly, is your Golden Thread everywhere?"

Aglaea was stunned for a moment. "Why do you ask that?"

"Because a few days ago when I went to... cough cough, when I went shopping, I always felt Golden Thread hovering nearby!" Cipher narrowed her eyes. "Are you monitoring all of Ohema?"

Aglaea smiled helplessly. "It's not monitoring, it's just... as the Governor of Ohema, I need to know what's happening in the city."

"Tsk tsk, no wonder." Cipher pouted. "Then let's go back to Dolos! Under your nose, we Rogues can't do anything."

Aglaea, however, just gently shook her head. "I understand. But..." She looked at you. "If you need anything, you can come to me anytime. My door is always open for you."

And so, you bid farewell to Aglaea and returned to Dolos. That city, once full of malice, now had a new look under the governance of that Marquis.

At 10 years old, you and Cipher resumed your old profession, continuing your Rogue life.

At 11 years old, "Little Cat, look!" Cipher pulled you to a brand new building in Dolos. "The shelter is really built!" Those children who once roamed the streets now had a place to shelter from the wind and rain.

"Shouldn't we find a fixed place to live?" you suggested. "Always living in different places isn't a solution."

"No!" Cipher immediately shook her head. "Little Cat, you must remember, a Rogue cannot have a home!" She looked at you seriously. "Having a fixed residence is like leaving a handle for others. If our identity is exposed one day, the enemy will first look for our home!" You thought about it and felt she made sense, so you no longer insisted.

12 years old. This day, you were in a tavern gathering information... Of course, you didn't drink wheat juice, only ordered two glasses of low-alcohol grape juice. Soon, you heard a shocking rumor.

"Have you heard, the Journey of Chasing the Flame is about to begin again!"

"Really? Those Chrysos Heirs still want to hunt a Titan?!"

"Absolutely true! And Aglaea of Ohema has already begun to summon heroes to start the second Journey of Chasing the Flame!"

The cup in Cipher's hand almost dropped to the ground. "Wait, who did you say?"

"Aglaea! The Romantic Demigod, the Governor of Ohema!"

You and Cipher looked at each other. "Little Cat..." Cipher swallowed. "Could it be the Tailor Woman we know?"

You were silent for a moment. "Since she's also a Governor, it should... not be the same name." Recalling Aglaea's ubiquitous Golden Thread, that extraordinary power indeed seemed like something only a Demigod would possess.

"Oh my god!" Cipher held her head. "We've been calling that Demigod 'Tailor Woman' all this time! She won't hold a grudge, will she?"

"We?" You cleared your throat. "I never called her that."

"Hey!" Cipher hooked your neck and pulled you close, saying casually. "What I say is what you say, aren't we together?" Her arm rested on your shoulder, her whole body almost pressed against your side, her movements intimate and natural.

"What together..." you mumbled, your ears feeling a bit hot.

"Of course we're together!" Cipher ruffled your hair with her other hand. "What's mine is yours, and what's yours is mine, so if I called her Tailor Woman, it means you did too!"

"What kind of twisted logic is that..."

"What twisted logic?" Cipher tightened her arm with a grin. "Little Cat, we're partners, so if a Demigod holds a grudge, we'll be resented together!"

You looked at her eyes, which curved into crescents, and finally sighed helplessly. "Alright, together it is."

"That's more like it!" Cipher released you with satisfaction, but her hand remained on your shoulder. "Anyway, the Tailor Woman... no, Aglaea seems to have a good temper, she probably won't fuss over it, right?"

"Let's hope so..."

The other patrons in the tavern looked at the two of you, all showing knowing smiles—these two children, their relationship is really good... Wait, where did children come from in a place like this?
