Chapter 1 - For The Leon Empire

"For the Emperor! For the empire! Charge!" A knight commander raised his sword high above his head and shouted with all his might. His words echoed throughout the army of battle hardened knights before him, raising their morale greatly.

The knight commander saw this and revealed a satisfied smile.

He then thought to himself, 'After we win this battle and storm the enemy's capital, I'll hand in my resignation letter and retire to the countryside to live peacefully with my family...'

Just then, a shining pillar of golden light fell from the skies, washing everyone in its warm embrace.

The knight commander along with his army became ecstatic when they saw the pillar of golden light.

"Huzzah! The Apostle Of Light has blessed us with his god's blessings! We will surely win this war!" The knight commander thrusted his sword upwards and revealed an excited expression.

'Retirement isn't that far off!'

Upon thinking so, the knight commander turned around to face the tens of thousands of enemy chivalry charging at them with ferociousness.

Taking a deep breath, the knight commander shouted with all his might, "FOR THE EMPEROR! FOR THE EMPIRE! FOR ANDREAS! CHAAAARGE!"

With that final shout, the thousand strong army of knights, equipped with the best armors and weapons possible, stacked with divine blessings, charged forward with their knight commander into enemy lines.

"Cling!"

"Clang!"

"Chik!"

"Swish!"

The under-manpowered army of blessed knights slashed, stabbed and hacked their way through their enemies like they were butter.

Corpses fell one after another, creating mountains and forming rivers of blood that made the battlefield hard to breathe in.

As more time passed, the rivers soon formed into a giant lake of blood, where every step was littered in organs and severed limbs.

"The enemies are dying like flies, we can win this!" The knight commander at the front shouted loudly.

He had just killed an entire battalion of enemy soldiers alone and was still experiencing the adrenaline.

With that, the knights gritted their teeth and started killing their enemies with increased efficiency.

Some utilized sword aura to cut through thick armor like butter.

Some bent down to drink the blood of their enemies. Moments later, their eyes turned red and their breathing became haggard.

The blood drinking soldiers' bodies mutated into beasts as they became capable of tearing their enemies apart with their bare hands.

Some started summoning monsters to help them out in battle.

Coupled with the blessing from the Apostle Of Light, which granted them increased durability, mana regeneration, and fear resistance, the knights became the ultimate killing machines of the Leon Empire.

Hours later…

As the knights pierced their swords into the necks of their enemies, the Sun set into the mountains, bringing closure to this massacre of a one sided war.

The hundred strong knights looked at the fading light and let out sighs of relief.

"It's over. It's finally over..."

"I thought I was going to die…"

"I was stabbed in my shoulder but I didn't die…"

Everyone started to reveal smiles as they recounted what had happened during the battle.

Logically speaking, there would've been no way for this hundred man army to defeat 30 thousand enemy troops and survive.

It was no different than a suicide mission.

But once the Sun set and the Moon rose into the darkened skies, everyone became aware of what had happened.

They had won…with a landslide!

No one in their army died, while the enemy army was decimated.

"This just feels surreal, no? We really defeated the Arks."

But just as reality began to set in, the knight commander felt something was amiss.

'That pillar of light was definitely the famous Akon's Blessing spell, but why did it feel somewhat off?'

But before the knight commander could rationalize the reason, a knight subordinate of his suddenly collapsed onto the corpse-ridden ground.

"What the?! Jaac, are you alright?!"

"Is it an enemy attack?!"

"Be on your guard, boys! There might be a cursemancer that we missed!"

With that, every knight present raised their weapons and looked around cautiously.

"Liew, how's Jaac's condition?" [Knight Commander]

"His breathing is fine, mostly due to overexhaustion…Wait, that can't be right. We have the blessing of the Apostle of Light. We shouldn't feel fatigued at all." [Liew]

When the knight commander heard this, the eerie sensation he felt when he killed the last enemy started pounding his mind again.

"It can't be…"

Just as the knight commander realized the haunting truth, it was already too late.

"BOOM!"

The first knight to fall over, Jaac suddenly exploded, pushing the knight called Liew several meters away.

"What the fuck?!" Liew was momentarily stunned by the explosion. But when he came to his senses, he roared with shock, "Jaac!"

"BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!"

Following the first explosion, a chain of explosions soon followed.

"Are we being attacked?! Where is the enemy?!"

The remaining knights started clamoring around the battlefield, stabbing every body they could find strewn across.

"Chik!"

"Boom!"

"Chik!"

Boom!"

The knights were exploding faster than they could find the enemy causing it.

Soon, 50 more knights collapsed and followed suit, giving their comrades burn marks and trauma to boot.

"Everybody, calm the fuck down!" The knight commander saw this and tried his best to manage the situation. But as more and more knights started to explode left and right, even the level headed commander became more and more agitated.

Knights from all walks of life who had suffered through thick and thin together with the commander could only reveal looks of regret and sorrow.

If they had known that this was their final battle together, they would have thrown a party the night beforehand.

'Could it really be?! Apostle of Light, you son of a bitch-?!'

The knight commander too, revealed a look of indignation when he finally pieced together what had happened.

Gritting his teeth, he pointed a middle finger to the sky and cursed the Goddess of Light, Akon.

"BOOOM!" He then joined his fellow knights and exploded into a bloody mist, never to be seen again.

An hour later, the grassy plains of Levister became quiet again.

Standing on the far edges of this blood filled plains, a middle aged man could be seen lighting up a cigar in his hand. He then took a puff before he threw it onto the blood soaked grass.

"Whoosh!" The grassy plains then lit up like the Sun, burning everything within it like the incarnation of a fire dragon.

As for the middle aged man, he looked at the raging inferno with a calm gaze.

"For the Leon Empire, my ass." He muttered under his breath. The middle aged man then turned around and disappeared into the night.
