Chapter 45 - The Smell of Other Girls

Anjiu Nairo was worried about whether she had snored and if she looked ugly while sleeping.

However, Anjiu Heina reacted even more strongly than Nashiro, and she couldn't help but ask Nashiro, "Nashiro, did I make a fool of myself just now?"

"I don't know either, because I also… like you, accidentally fell asleep on him just now…"

Anjiu Nairo said with a hint of embarrassment.

"You too…"

Anjiu Heina was stunned for a moment, "Alright…"

...

When Yakuchi Kei returned home, he found that the front door was closed but not locked.

The first thing he thought of was not a thief, but the figure of that woman.

He opened the door and saw a pair of Kamishiro Rize's pink high heels; sure enough, Kamishiro Rize had come over.

No wonder Kamishiro Rize had asked for a spare key at the time, so it would be convenient for her to come to Yakuchi Kei's house anytime.

"I'm home."

Yakuchi Kei said.

"Welcome home, dear~"

Kamishiro Rize's voice immediately came from the living room.

"If I hadn't given you a spare key, I would have almost thought a thief had broken in."

Yakuchi Kei complained.

"That's a bit too much, calling me a thief."

Kamishiro Rize's tone instantly became somewhat resentful.

"I just said I almost thought so, but are you planning to stay overnight at my place tonight too?"

Yakuchi Kei asked.

"Yes, or is that not allowed?"

Kamishiro Rize said directly.

"Of course, as long as you like it."

Yakuchi Kei said calmly.

Just then, Kamishiro Rize got up from the sofa and walked towards Yakuchi Kei; he didn't even need to think to know what Kamishiro Rize was going to do next.

As expected, Kamishiro Rize then sniffed Yakuchi Kei's body all over.

This time, Kamishiro Rize sniffed so meticulously that Yakuchi Kei suddenly had a somewhat ominous premonition.

"It's mixed with many Ghoul scents again, but there's also a human scent, and… a faint fragrance from a girl…"

Kamishiro Rize smelled many scents; her sense of smell was much stronger than that of an average Ghoul.

Last time, she hadn't smelled so carefully, but this time she was as meticulous as could be.

Especially when she smelled the scent of a woman, Kamishiro Rize couldn't help but feel a little concerned, and her eyes subtly changed.

"Your nose is too sensitive…"

Yakuchi Kei couldn't help but complain.

"It seems there's more than one girl; two scents are relatively obvious."

Kamishiro Rize "analyzed" the scents on Yakuchi Kei, even discerning that Yakuchi Kei had more contact with Anjiu Heina and Anjiu Nairo.

"Also, where exactly did you go? Why do you have the scent of those guys on you?"

At this point, Kamishiro Rize's eyes changed again, and her expression instantly became a bit more severe.

Originally, she was concerned about the scent of other women on Yakuchi Kei, but now she seemed completely unconcerned, because something that made her even more concerned had appeared.

The "those guys" she referred to were actually the half-humans in the Zero Squad.

Due to her low status in the Washuu Family, Kamishiro Rize had lived with the half-humans from various branch families of the Washuu Family in the White Garden since she was a child.

If it were an ordinary Ghoul, it certainly wouldn't be able to distinguish between normal humans and half-humans, but she had lived with those half-humans since childhood, so she could discern the subtle differences between humans and half-humans.

The more fundamental difference between humans and half-humans is the rc cells value in their bodies, but this cannot be distinguished simply through smell; only someone like Kamishiro Rize, who has lived with half-humans since childhood, can barely do it.

Most importantly, in Kamishiro Rize's view, those half-humans were merely pawns of the Washuu Family, serving the Washuu Family their entire lives.

Therefore, Yakuchi Kei's contact with those half-humans made her feel very concerned.

"What do you mean by 'those guys'?"

Yakuchi Kei still pretended not to understand anything.

"...But then again, you probably don't know about those things, so what exactly did you do today?"

Kamishiro Rize speculated, "Or… were you originally a CCG Investigator?"

If Yakuchi Kei didn't know about half-humans, then he must have come into contact with half-humans at the CCG.

She knew that some half-humans were sent by the Washuu Family to the CCG to supplement the Investigator's combat strength.

"Not exactly. I haven't become a formal Ghoul Investigator yet; I'm still an intern."

Since Kamishiro Rize had pretty much guessed it, Yakuchi Kei no longer kept it hidden.

He could gradually feel that Kamishiro Rize's sense of distance from him was becoming less severe than it was at first, so he was willing to tell Kamishiro Rize some things.

"No wonder…"

Now Kamishiro Rize understood.

Regardless of whether Yakuchi Kei was an intern or a formal Ghoul Investigator, he would inevitably encounter Investigators whose true identity was a half-human from the White Garden in the CCG.

"But with your strength, you're still an intern."

Kamishiro Rize was somewhat surprised by this.

"There's nothing I can do; I just decided I wanted to become a CCG Investigator."

Yakuchi Kei shrugged.

"You're about to become a Ghoul Investigator, so aren't your current actions protecting me, a Ghoul? You should know that this is considered a serious crime under that countermeasures law, right?"

Kamishiro Rize said with a smile.

"What's the big deal? That 'ghoul countermeasures law' is ridiculous to begin with."

Yakuchi Kei said bluntly.

The Washuu Family, who enacted the "ghoul countermeasures law" and also established the CCG, is a Ghoul family; this alone is ridiculous enough…

Not to mention, there aren't many Ghoul Investigators who can fully comply with the "ghoul countermeasures law" anyway.

Yakuchi Kei's directness surprised Kamishiro Rize. "If someone else heard that and reported you, you'd be in big trouble."

This "someone else" refers to humans; Kamishiro Rize, being a Ghoul, naturally couldn't report Yakuchi Kei.

"That's why I only say these things to you."

Yakuchi Kei said faintly.

Kamishiro Rize smiled softly, then her topic shifted back, "So, you have so many Ghoul scents on you because you went to fight those Ghouls with other Investigators, right? No wonder you also have a slightly different scent on you, similar to the Quinque held by those Investigators I've encountered before."

"That's right, it's this thing."

Yakuchi Kei nodded slightly and took out the Hiruko 1/76 that had been in his inner pocket.

"I understand all this, but…"

Kamishiro Rize's face showed a slightly dangerous smile, "What about those two girls' scents?"
