Chapter 47 - Living with Rize

"I just said it, didn't I? They are the two fellow interns who are interning with me."

Kei hadn't expected Rize to continue asking about this topic, thinking it had already passed.

"You just said it was because you fought alongside them, but from the scent I'm getting from you, I can tell that the scent is strongest on both of your arms and shoulders. How did you fight alongside them to end up like this? I find it a bit hard to imagine."

Rize said directly, her tone slightly teasing.

"Alright… Actually, it was because they accidentally fell asleep while riding the subway, and they slept on my shoulders."

Kei could only confess truthfully.

"I see."

Rize nodded slightly.

Kei 's explanation, she could believe it.

"That's enough. Next, I'm going to tell you in detail about the Washuu Family, lest you, this idiot, act recklessly without knowing anything."

Rize said.

Although Kei knew everything, he still pretended to listen attentively.

Afterward, Rize's narration was nothing more than about the power the Washuu Family possessed, such as the CCG, the "V" organization…

And Rize also mentioned her own background.

"As a Ghoul family, yet they revere human bloodlines. The purer the Ghoul bloodline, the lower the status. Don't you find it ridiculous?"

Rize hadn't directly stated that this was her own experience; she merely asked for Kei 's opinion.

"Yes… But is this something you personally experienced?"

Kei said.

"It seems I revealed too much."

Rize said indifferently, "That's right, this is what I experienced. That's why I never want to return to that utterly disgusting place. It was extremely difficult to escape from there."

"Speaking of which, if you hadn't saved me before, I would probably still be continuing my original fate now."

"Although I don't know what that Furuta guy ultimately wants to do, he certainly doesn't have good intentions."

Rize's words were very calm, and her heart was undoubtedly filled with extreme disgust for the entire Washuu Family.

"Perhaps there would have been an even worse outcome, but that's all in the past now. From now on, I definitely won't let you suffer those pains again."

Kei said in a deep voice.

The "perhaps worse outcome" he spoke of referred to being used as an experimental subject.

Being a "child-bearer" in the Washuu Family was certainly miserable, but the degree of pain as an experimental subject was also indescribable.

In the original work, Rize had her Kakuho extracted thousands of times. Each instance of pain, along with prolonged hunger, was a double torment, both physical and mental.

Finally, being destroyed as the "Dragon Core" was, for Rize, a kind of liberation.

Kei actually didn't want to compare which fate was more tragic between a "child-bearer" and an "experimental subject"; he only needed to know that Rize's fate was so tragic, so he wouldn't let either situation happen again.

"I've already told you about the Washuu Family's power, and you can still say such big words?"

Rize exclaimed, "Although I don't know where you get such strong confidence, I'll believe you for now. After all, you're the only one I can rely on now."

"By the way… you mentioned your 'father' before. How is he doing?"

Kei intentionally brought up this matter.

"Him? I haven't seen him since I left the 6th Ward, but I once heard he was captured by a CCG Investigator. I don't know if the news is true or false."

Rize said somewhat carelessly.

"6th Ward? Then he shouldn't be your biological father? And you don't have the surname 'Washuu.' Is the surname 'Kamishiro' inherited from him?"

Kei continued to push the topic.

"That's right. After I escaped from that place, I met 'Father.' He gave me my surname and taught me many martial arts, but he was also a very nagging guy, however…"

Rize suddenly felt that she had become slightly different from before. "Perhaps his sermons were right. It was my unrestrained predation everywhere that gave that Furuta guy the opportunity to ambush me."

"Logically speaking, a Ghoul of your father's level, and someone who is related to you, the CCG definitely wouldn't do anything to him. You still have a chance to reunite."

Kei said.

He remembered a detail: it wasn't Kamishiro who first regarded Rize as his daughter; rather, Rize was the one who first called Kamishiro "Father."

It was actually somewhat similar to Kurona and Nashiro. Perhaps it was all a manifestation of "lack of love"?

To say that Rize had no feelings for Kamishiro at all would certainly be an exaggeration, but Rize's rebellious psychology was too severe, and Kamishiro's sermons would naturally make Rize feel very repulsed.

"I hope so. I also didn't expect him to be captured by the CCG. He must have done it to protect those weaker Ghouls."

Rize's tone was somewhat helpless.

She naturally knew what kind of person "Father" was. As the leader (manager) of the 6th Ward, he always considered those old, weak, sick, and disabled under him.

Given Kamishiro's strength, if he wanted to escape, he certainly wouldn't have been caught by the CCG. But he probably chose to be voluntarily captured, taking all responsibility to protect the remaining Ghouls in the 6th Ward.

Unless the CCG deployed Kishou Arima, but that's unrealistic. Kishou Arima generally obeys orders from "V" or the Washuu Family. He would only go if the Washuu Family ordered him to eliminate Kamishiro, and Kamishiro would surely die, without even a chance to be captured, so this assumption is not valid.

In fact, the reason the CCG deployed so many forces in the 6th Ward was due to Rize's unrestrained predation of humans.

"Also, from now on, I'll be living here with you. Tomorrow, I'll move over the things I need first."

Rize suddenly changed the subject.

As for asking Kei 's permission? That was impossible; she was just that spontaneous.

Although Kei wouldn't refuse such a thing anyway.

But then again, doesn't this mean they're living together?

"That's fine. It'll be much more convenient when we need to contact each other."

Kei nodded.

"But one thing at a time, you can't forget what you promised me. I've been waiting to enjoy you."

Rize specifically emphasized this matter.

Kei was suddenly a little exasperated. "Don't worry, I'll fulfill everything I promised you."

"Before that, you absolutely mustn't let any other Ghoul get their hands on you. Only I can enjoy you."

As her voice fell, Rize gently bit Kei 's collarbone, leaving a very shallow Kiba mark.
