Moonlight, like liquid mercury, poured down, blanketing the royal capital.
Though three days had passed, the vast royal city was still steeped in panic. No one noticed that in the princess's chambers, a mass of water glowing with a faint blue light was anxiously shifting its shape.
Since the day Morgan had left him in the bedchamber to confront King Uther alone, Cang Ye had not seen her.
He wasn't worried that Morgan would be in danger; there were few in Britain who could harm her. And no matter how depraved Uther was, he wouldn't harm his own nominal daughter with his own hands.
What worried Cang Ye was Morgan's incredibly unstable mental state. She was like a giant boulder perched on a cliff's edge, held in place by a single small stone. The slightest provocation could send her plummeting into the abyss.
Right now, Cang Ye only wanted to be that stone.
But what could he do? He was just a mass of water. He could do nothing.
Just as his thoughts ran wild, the door to the bedchamber was pushed open.
He subconsciously looked towards the entrance, and the sight that greeted him was one he would never forget.
The person who entered was none other than the master of this chamber, Morgan.
However, something was clearly wrong with her.
The Morgan of the past was noble and icy, like a perennially frozen mountain—the kind that could freeze a person to death.
But at this moment, her eyes were hazy, and a faint blush graced her jade-like face. Compared to before, she had less of her icy nobility and more of a sensual charm.
Like a celestial fairy who had fallen from the clouds into the mortal realm, she made one's heart race, her allure impossible to resist.
She was beautiful beyond words.
The culprit for all this was evidently the half-empty bottle of wine in her hand and the sweet aroma that was gradually filling the air.
The moonlight shone on Morgan from behind, casting a shadow that enveloped Cang Ye. Neither of them spoke a word; the air seemed to freeze in that moment.
What a moonlit drunkard, Cang Ye silently mused. But he had to admit, the Morgan before him was breathtakingly captivating. He was confident that no other drunkard in the world could be as beautiful and alluring as Morgan.
Before Cang Ye could speak, Morgan, as if just coming to her senses, staggered into the room. She closed the door and collapsed beside him on the bed.
"Lady Morgan," Cang Ye said softly.
Morgan didn't reply, merely burying her head deep into the velvet quilt.
Cang Ye said no more, quietly keeping her company.
After an unknown amount of time, Morgan's somewhat muffled voice broke the silence in the room.
"Father is dead."
"Mm," Cang Ye responded gently, as if he had been waiting for her to speak.
"Until his last breath, he never acknowledged me. He even stripped me of the right to have knights."
Cang Ye was stunned. He never imagined that even on his deathbed, King Uther would continue to suppress Morgan, even inflicting upon her what amounted to a vicious curse.
Some might wonder why Morgan would care so much about Uther's words. But one must remember, this was the Type-Moon world—a world where physics was merely a veil, a world governed by the ultimate power of will.
Furthermore, as a Celtic king destined to be recorded in history, Uther's final words would inevitably spread throughout Britain and into the annals of history, just like the prophecies before them.
The consequence of this was that his words would become an eternal curse upon Morgan. In the future, no knight would ever believe in or swear fealty to her.
In other words, in a Britain where chivalry was paramount, Morgan would never gain the recognition of the people's champions. She could never truly become the King of Britain.
This was the destiny's poison Uther had inflicted upon Morgan, his final measure to checkmate her in her struggle against the Child of the Red Dragon.
No wonder the Morgan of history was so obsessed with creating and cultivating knights. No wonder Gawain, Gaheris, and Gareth, who all preached the code of chivalry, abandoned and even despised the one who gave them life. No wonder Morgan hated the Knights of the Round Table so deeply.
So it was all your doing, you old fiend, Uther.
Cang Ye's heart was filled with resentment. His opinion of the old brute was already low, but now it had reached its nadir.
However, Uther was already dead and gone. No matter how furious Cang Ye was, he couldn't drag his soul from the land of the dead to kill him again.
And Morgan obviously understood this. Hearing those words, many things she had never understood before suddenly became clear. The emotions of the past and present surged together, instantly swallowing her in a dark tide.
This was why she had turned to drink.
And when Morgan had said all this, even Cang Ye, for all his eloquence, fell silent.
Understanding Morgan's state of mind, he knew that words were sometimes truly powerless. A hug or a frantic, cathartic act would be more effective.
Releasing it all would bring relief.
"Fae," Morgan asked, "tell me, has my life, from the beginning until now, had any meaning?"
Morgan didn't seem to care about Cang Ye's answer. She slowly sat up on the bed, hugging her knees, her eyes listlessly gazing at him.
From his perspective, he could clearly see that her eyes were red and swollen, with tear tracks at the corners. Those beautiful eyes, once as deep as a tranquil pool, were now like stagnant water.
"Perhaps, just as Father said, I am not fated to be king."
"Everything I have, everything I cherish about Britain, will ultimately belong to someone else."
"Even my own birth, I imagine, was just an experiment conducted by him and Merlin to create the perfect king."
"For someone like me, is there any meaning in existing, in persisting?"
Cang Ye saw the light in Morgan's eyes grow dimmer. All the pain, hatred, anger, and despair had melted into numbness and a deathly stillness.
This princess, toyed with by fate, had finally bowed her stubborn head.
For some inexplicable reason, seeing this unfamiliar, fragile side of Morgan, Cang Ye felt a pang in his heart. The feeling was strangely foreign, like watching a beauty weep before you.
It was suffocating.
Suddenly, he made up his mind.
Fate? To hell with fate.
Cang Ye took a deep breath, his voice lower and more serious than ever before.
"Lady Morgan, do you believe in me?"
Hearing his voice, Morgan looked up, a little lost. She didn't understand the point of him saying this now.
"Do you remember, three years ago, when we first met? I told you that the purpose of fate is to be broken."
"I also said that I would always stand by your side, the first to sound your praises."
"If you believe in me, then entrust your faith to me. I will surely become the sharp spear in your hands that pierces through destiny!"
Cang Ye had never believed in fate. If fate truly existed, then he—reborn from death, transported to another world, possessing nine paths of destiny—was a man who transcended fate.
Since King Uther had used his life to plant a curse of destiny upon Morgan, then he, Cang Ye, would wager his own life to break this shackle for her.
"Please grant me Incarnation, Lady Morgan. I will serve you eternally, become your everlasting knight, and shatter all curses of destiny."
With that, Cang Ye fell silent, watching Morgan, whose pupils had been trembling since he began speaking, as if she had heard something taboo.
After a long moment, Morgan finally came to her senses. There was light in her eyes again, along with many complex emotions.
"Fae, if you are merely trying to please me, you have already succeeded. I can forgive you for breaking your oath."
"No, Lady Morgan. I have no intention of merely pleasing you. Everything I have said and requested comes from the bottom of my heart."
This was the first time since they met that Cang Ye had contradicted Morgan, yet she felt no trace of annoyance.
Listening to his resolute words, Morgan couldn't help but recall her past with this creature.
Although he had defiled her birth lake, she had also stripped him of his freedom for three years and forced him to please her.
Yet, not only did he not complain, but he was also willing to speak such words of defiance against fate for her, a forsaken princess.
Thinking of this, Morgan felt she should still explain the stakes to him.
"Fae, do you realize that Britain is now in the decline of the Age of Gods? If you undergo Incarnation, you will no longer be able to enter the Inner Sea of the Planet. Your life will begin its countdown at that very moment."
"Even so, are you still willing?"
Morgan seemed certain that Cang Ye would hesitate, that he would refuse. Her beautiful eyes were fixed on him.
"I am willing. If I must watch you bear the shackles of fate alone, then I would rather you grant me death directly."
But this time, she miscalculated. Cang Ye accepted her terms without any hesitation.
"Meeting you is the greatest grace of my life. If the rest of my life can be of some small service to you, I would be endlessly honored, Lady Morgan."
Morgan fell silent. An inexplicable emotion swelled in her heart. It seemed no one had ever chosen her so resolutely before.
No, someone had. Three years ago, on that day, it was this same Fae, who didn't know his place, who said something similar to her.
So, I am acknowledged by someone after all.
Morgan said no more. She extended her hand and used her magecraft to draw a cut on her wrist.
Crimson blood, like rubies, flowed out. Below, Cang Ye's watery form, as if savoring a sweet wine, was stained the same brilliant red.
As Morgan chanted words of power, the magical energy and the authority of the Lord of the Isle contained within her blood were activated, transforming into currents of divine energy that surged into Cang Ye's body. The spherical mass of water slowly elongated, stretched, and finally formed a giant, two-meter-tall cocoon.
After completing this, Morgan's face turned deathly pale, her eyes filled with an unconcealable exhaustion.
Granting Incarnation to a Fae was, in essence, an imitation of the Planet granting its blessing to an Elemental, a process that used magecraft—no, a feat of True Magic—to manipulate the Great Source.
It sounded simple, but the actual difficulty was staggering. In all of Britain, only Morgan could perform it; all other magi, including Merlin, were incapable.
But how could the power of one person compare to that of the Planet?
Even Morgan could only accomplish this ritual by borrowing the power of the entire Isle of Britain through her authority as its Lord.
Even so, the strain she endured was immense.
Feeling the massive drain on her magical energy, Morgan grew weaker. But the thought of the foolish Fae who supported and accompanied her made her bite her lip and press on.
Soon, as time passed, Morgan's efforts were rewarded. The giant cocoon, nurturing Cang Ye's new body, stabilized. Through its ruby-crystal-like shell, one could faintly see a humanoid figure inside gradually solidifying.
Seeing the Incarnation succeed, Morgan couldn't help but let out a sigh of relief.
The next moment, weakness and exhaustion enveloped her. Her body went limp, and she was about to collapse.
But just then, a fair yet powerful arm burst out of the cocoon and wrapped around Morgan's soft waist. She felt a moment of dizziness, then found herself pulled into a warm, broad chest.

[Incarnated Fae (B-): A Fae who has gained a physical body with the blessing of Britain, acknowledged by the Lord of the Isle. Its life form is similar to an Elemental. Due to the influence of the Lord of the Isle, human blood is mixed in, lowering the rank. Cannot leave the Isle of Britain.]

However, your life is now tied to the survival of the Divine Age.]
Ignoring the system's chatter, Cang Ye, after pulling Morgan into his embrace, immediately bit the tip of his tongue and kissed her slightly pale, soft lips, transferring his pure blood and magical energy to her.
"Mmph!"
Faced with such a presumptuous act, Morgan's beautiful eyes widened.
But in her current weakened state, she couldn't stop this rogue's mischief. Slowly, she stopped resisting, her body subconsciously yielding to his, their tongues intertwining and suckling.
After a long while, as a glistening thread of saliva broke, the two finally ended their kiss, gazing quietly at each other.
"Knight, do you know you have committed a grave sin?" Morgan's hands were wrapped around the back of Cang Ye's head. Their faces were so close they could feel each other's breath.
"Please forgive me, Lady Morgan. It was only because you are too beautiful that this subordinate lost control. It's just that..."
Cang Ye gently held Morgan, feeling the heat and softness of her body. They both saw the unbearable heat in each other's eyes.
"Just what?" Morgan asked instinctively. The next moment, she realized his gaze was too intense and guessed his intentions.
"Knight! My patience is—mmph!"
Before Morgan could finish, Cang Ye kissed her red lips again, his words muffled.
"Lady Morgan, words are too pale to soothe pain. As your knight, I wish to use my actions to make you forget your suffering."
With that, they fell back onto the velvet bed together. Soon,靡靡之音 (mímí zhī yīn - decadent, sensual sounds) filled the grand bedchamber.
Tonight was destined to be a night where the subordinate would rise up.
