Chapter 4 - After the Fire – Franklin Awakens

INT. SAFEHOUSE BUNKER – EARTH-811 – DIMLY LIT

The room is quiet now. Still. But there's no peace — only the weight of what's been lost.

Franklin lies motionless in the cradle.

No longer crying. No longer glowing.

But inside… something has changed.

CLOSE-UP – FRANKLIN'S EYES

They snap open — not glowing with power this time, but with awareness.

He is fully conscious now.

Not a baby. Not anymore.

FRANKLIN (V.O.) – ADULT YUKI'S VOICE

"…They're really gone… I felt it. I saw it."

"The blast… the sacrifice… this empty bunker…"

"This universe... it's broken."

FLASH IMAGES – THROUGH FRANKLIN'S MIND

Reed Richards, torn suit, reaching toward his son as Galactus descends.Sue Storm, whispering something no one will ever hear.Johnny, blazing in a final nova.Ben Grimm, smiling sadly, then gone in light.A planet-sized shadow consuming stars.

INT. BUNKER – FRANKLIN SITS UP

He pulls himself upright — slowly, shakily.

His body may still be small, but his posture holds the wisdom and weight of a soul reborn.

Around him, screens flicker on — damaged feeds from across Earth-811.

What remains:

Ruins of New York City.Collapsed satellites, orbiting dead.Radio silence from all other civilizations.

FRANKLIN (V.O.)

"I'm alone… in every way that matters."

"This world is gone. My family... their legacy… it ended here."

A pause. The silence is deafening.

"But I'm still here."

He walks — unstable, but determined — toward a shattered console.

Small fingers reach out, pressing keys. A projection flickers to life — Reed's last message.

REED RICHARDS (RECORDING)

"If this message survives... Franklin… I'm sorry. I wanted more for you. We all did."

"If you're seeing this… we failed. But maybe you… you can be what we couldn't."

"Our legacy doesn't end unless you let it."

Franklin watches in silence, his breathing slow.

Then—

FRANKLIN (V.O.)

"I can't save this Earth."

"But maybe... I can save something greater."

CLOSE-UP – A MIRROR SHARD

Franklin sees his reflection — the face of a baby, but the eyes of something far older.

Then the whisper returns:

THE ONE ABOVE ALL (V.O.)

"Your story begins now. Not in the ruins… but beyond them."

END SCENE – CAMERA PULLS OUT

We pan outward, showing the full devastation of Earth-811 — a broken world with a single spark of life still glowing in the ashes.

Franklin Richards — reborn as Yuki — has awakened.

And somewhere in the infinite multiverse… the cosmos begins to shift.

INT. SAFEHOUSE BUNKER – EARTH-811 – NIGHT

The room is dim. Silent. The air crackles softly with residual energy.

Franklin Richards, still in his infant form but fully awakened in mind and soul, walks slowly to the center of the bunker.

The floor panels shimmer faintly — signs of ancient cosmic tech still functioning.

He closes his eyes.

FRANKLIN (V.O.)

"My father... my mother... the world they loved..."

"If I can remember it... I can bring it back."

"Right?"

CLOSE-UP – HIS HAND

Tiny, trembling fingers stretch out.

A ripple of raw energy forms — reality bends, warps, twists in a glowing sphere of white-blue light.

FLASH IMAGES IN THE LIGHT:

Reed's laboratory rebuilt in reverse. The skyline of New York reassembling.Johnny laughing again.Ben carrying Franklin on his shoulder.Sue humming him to sleep…

The light expands, growing unstable — then…

SNAP!

A violent shockwave blasts outward.

Reality shatters like glass.

EVERYTHING GOES BLACK.

Franklin falls backward, coughing, weak. His eyes dim. The illusion is gone.

The world remains dead.

Silence.

FRANKLIN (weakly, voice cracking)

"Why... why can't I fix it…?"

He clenches his fists, lips trembling.

Tears fall again.

Then, from the depths of space-time itself, comes The Voice — calm, infinite, compassionate.

THE ONE ABOVE ALL (V.O.)

"Because some things… must not be rewritten."

Franklin freezes.

THE ONE ABOVE ALL (V.O.)

"You carry the seed of creation within you, Franklin. But you are not here to undo loss."

"You are here… to become something more."

Franklin looks up, breathing hard, emotional.

FRANKLIN (V.O.)

"So I'm just supposed to… live with it?"

THE ONE ABOVE ALL (V.O.)

"You are meant to carry it. To learn. To walk forward, not backward."

"Their legacy lives through you — not through rewinding time… but through becoming what they believed you could be."

Franklin stares into the broken mirror again — the baby's face, the god's soul.

FRANKLIN (V.O.)

"…Then I'll keep going."

"For them."

A soft wind passes — unnatural in a sealed bunker.

A final whisper from the One Above All lingers in the air.

THE ONE ABOVE ALL (V.O.)

"Good, Franklin. Your journey continues…"

Into the Watcher's Realm

INT. SAFEHOUSE BUNKER – EARTH-811 – NIGHT

Franklin stands still, the devastation outside now eerily calm.

His glowing eyes narrow, pulsing with curiosity and frustration. He raises one trembling hand into the air.

A ripple of golden light surges from his fingertips, cutting through reality like a scalpel through silk.

A swirling rift forms — spinning and shifting like a cosmic eye opening.

FRANKLIN (V.O.)

"He watches everything… even now."

"If anyone has answers, it's him."

INT. WATCHER'S REALM – TIMELESS

Franklin steps through the rift.

The world beyond is vast, cosmic, and unnervingly quiet. A glowing starlit pathway forms beneath his feet.

At its end stands a towering figure in a deep blue cloak — his back turned, head bowed.

UATU — The Watcher.

The Watcher turns slowly. His eyes, glowing white like collapsed stars, land on Franklin with sharp interest.

THE WATCHER

(deep, curious)

"You…"

(steps closer, studying)

"…You are not supposed to be here."

FRANKLIN

(softly)

"I wasn't supposed to lose everything either."

The Watcher tilts his head. He scans the child's form, frowning slightly.

THE WATCHER

"There was no prophecy. No anomaly report. No branching timeline."

(beat)

"Yet you stand here… glowing with forces even I cannot quantify."

Franklin says nothing — only watches him back, calm and eerily composed for his age.

THE WATCHER

(quietly)

"You are Franklin Richards. The son of Reed and Susan. But… you are not the Franklin I've known."

(beat)

"You are something… new. Something unstable."

FRANKLIN

(carefully)

"Maybe the Multiverse needed something new."

THE WATCHER

(sternly)

"The Multiverse doesn't create without cost."

(steps forward)

"And anomalies like you — they ripple. They fracture things."

(beat)

"You radiate the potential of a thousand realities… but carry the weight of something older than your birth."

Franklin hesitates. His fingers twitch.

He almost speaks the truth — that he was someone else, once… from another world entirely.

But he stops.

FRANKLIN

(smirking faintly)

"Guess I'm just a cosmic accident, huh?"

THE WATCHER

(coldly)

"There are no accidents at this level."

(leans in)

"Only consequences."

Franklin meets his gaze, unshaken.

FRANKLIN

"Then help me understand the consequences."

A long pause.

Then The Watcher slowly stands straight again, towering over the small boy.

THE WATCHER

"Very well. I will observe you, anomaly. But I cannot interfere."

(beat)

"And I do not yet know whether your existence is a salvation…"

(glancing at him)

"…or a threat."

Franklin nods, eyes glowing faintly.

FRANKLIN (V.O.)

"Good. That makes two of us."

EXT. EARTH-811 – NIGHT – POST-APOCALYPTIC RUINS

The rift closes behind him.

Franklin stands alone in the middle of what used to be New York City — now nothing more than fractured stone, scorched steel, and hollow silence.

Wind howls between twisted skyscraper remnants. Ash falls like snow.

A blue-glowing mist lingers where Galactus once fed. The energy scars have not healed.

FRANKLIN (V.O.)

"It's quiet now…"

"Too quiet for a world that once held so much life."

He steps through rubble — his small feet crunching over broken glass and burned paper.

Scattered around him are familiar symbols — the charred "4" insignia of the Fantastic Four, half-melted street signs…

…and finally, a singed photo buried under dust:

A family photo.

Reed. Sue. Johnny. Ben. Valeria. And baby Franklin.

Franklin bends down and gently picks it up.

FRANKLIN

(softly, broken)

"…I'm sorry I couldn't stop it."

He closes his glowing eyes — and suddenly we see a brief FLASHBACK, not of battle… but of love:

Reed carrying baby Franklin on his shoulders.Sue laughing, chasing Valeria around the lab.Johnny showing him how to make flame shapes.Ben lifting him high and calling him "kiddo."Valeria giving him a cookie behind Sue's back.

BACK TO PRESENT

Tears run down his small cheeks.

FRANKLIN

"I remember all of it now… all of you."

(whispers)

"Even if the world forgets, I won't."

He kneels in the center of the destruction, places the photo gently on the ground, and surrounds it with a faint ring of golden light — a protective ward.

FRANKLIN

(softly)

"Rest now. You saved this world even when I couldn't."

He stands, wiping his eyes.

In the distance, the sky begins to shift — cracks of color forming where the multiverse bleeds through. The time to leave is close.

Suddenly — a small blue butterfly lands on his shoulder.

Out of place. Too perfect.

Franklin watches it, then smiles faintly.

FRANKLIN (V.O.)

"Goodbye, home."

"Time to find a new one… or make one."

He turns, raises his hand, and opens a new portal — this time, to the unknown.

A brilliant multiversal light pours through.

Franklin walks forward. The butterfly lifts off his shoulder and flies into the light with him.

The portal closes.

Earth-811 is silent once more.
