Chapter 41 - "The Devil’s Deal."

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________

While the two girls were whispering and cooking together, Andrew wasn't just sitting around doing nothing.

Andrew's magic power surged to new heights, growing stronger with each passing day.

He figured that as long as he kept "recharging" with the sweet little angel Mashiru for a while longer, she'd awaken her own powers.

Once that happened, Andrew could link his magic to hers and officially activate the familiar contract.

That way, if she ever got into danger, she could borrow his power—or even summon him directly—and boost her own strength in an instant.

It'd give her an extra layer of protection.

Every familiar awakens a different kind of ability, so Andrew had no clue what Mashiru would end up with.

But judging by her gentle personality, it'd probably be something related to healing.

As for him, the most powerful thing about being a demon was that he could use his familiars' powers too.

Meaning: whatever kind of ability a familiar awakens, he gets to use it as well.

With nothing better to do, Andrew closed his eyes and used his wish-sensing power.

The whole world instantly went silent.

In his ears, a flood of whispers began—some were wishes, some were full of hatred, and others were just random emotions and thoughts.

After filtering through the noise, a clear, pleasant voice entered his mind:

"I don't care who it is—God, demon, whoever—as long as someone can wake up my sister and make her healthy again, I'll give anything!"

Through that wish, Andrew saw a pure white hospital bed. Lying on it was a girl with long black hair like a waterfall—so cute it should be illegal.

Sitting at her bedside was a beautiful woman with short hair and a curvy figure, silently holding the girl's hand, tears slipping down her cheeks.

"Yukinon why are you so stupid…? It should've been me lying here, not you."

Just from that, Andrew instantly realized who they were.

It was none other than Yukino Yukinoshita and her older sister, Haruno Yukinoshita.

The girl on the bed—the sleeping beauty—was none other than Yukino, the main heroine from "Oregairu."

Turns out, back when school had just started, a car suddenly came speeding out of nowhere and slammed into some poor guy walking by.

Then, without slowing down, the car made a sharp turn and went straight for the Yukinoshita sisters who'd just gotten out of their own car.

Yukino reacted fast—she pushed her big sister Haruno out of the way, but ended up getting hit herself, flying like a kite with its string cut.

She survived after emergency surgery, but she never woke up.

Doctors later said that Yukino might end up in a vegetative state.

When Haruno heard that, she completely broke down.

She was a total sis-con. Her favorite person in the world was her little sister Yukino.

And now, Yukino had sacrificed herself and become a vegetable—for her.

How was she supposed to live with that?

Even their mom, who always acted calm and collected, had secretly cried more than once.

She couldn't handle the fact that her younger daughter might never wake up.

Oh, and by the way—the unlucky guy who got hit at the beginning?

Yeah, that was Andrew.

Fate really is wild, huh?

After hearing the girl's wish, Andrew activated his demon powers and sent a voice directly into Haruno Yukinoshita's mind:

"Are you sure you can pay any price? Waking someone from a vegetative state isn't easy."

Hearing that mysterious voice, Haruno's eyes went wide as she sat crying in the hospital room.

"W-Who are you? Can you really save my sister?"

Terrified she was just imagining things, she immediately looked around in a panic.

[Hah, no god's gonna waste time on a girl like you. I'm a demon—pure evil.]

Instead of freaking out, Haruno actually looked relieved.

"A demon? That's fine! As long as you can make Yukino healthy again, I'll do anything!"

[Oh? Really? Even if I want everything from you? Your body, your soul, your entire future—you'd belong to me forever. Still okay with that?]

Haruno gave a sad little smile.

"My everything, huh? That's such a demon thing to say… But yes. I'm willing. I'll give you my soul, my body, my whole life—if you can save my sister Yukino!"

[In that case, our deal is sealed. Tomorrow night, I'll come collect everything. Don't tell anyone—otherwise the deal's off.]

With that, Andrew canceled the power.

Thinking about Haruno's figure, he couldn't help getting a little excited.

Yeah, it was a little sneaky—using Yukino's situation to lure Haruno into becoming his familiar.

But hey, he was a demon.

And Haruno agreed.

So it's all good, right?

Let's just call it... pure pleasure.

...

Back at the hospital.

The demon's whisper faded.

Haruno Yukinoshita was still holding her sister's hand, a small smile tugging at her lips.

"Yukinon, I'm going all in for you. So please… you have to wake up."

She gently stroked her sister's cheek, then turned and walked out of the hospital without hesitation.

She needed time alone to prepare herself.

Because by tomorrow night, nothing about her would belong to her anymore.

And after she left—

A single tear slid from Yukino's eye.

She had heard everything.

Even the deal between her sister and the demon.

But she couldn't stop it. Couldn't wake up. Couldn't move.

Some crucial nerves in her body were damaged. The fact that she could even stay conscious was already a miracle.

Wasn't Hayama Hayato the one who secretly liked Haruno?

Well, sucks for him.

Because after tomorrow night, Haruno Yukinoshita would belong to Andrew.

Familiar +1!

See? Bad guys really do get the sweet stuff.

If Andrew had been like Hayama—playing the nice guy 24/7, always acting cool and gentlemanly—he probably would never even get close to someone like Haruno Yukinoshita.

But he was a demon.

And demons are pros at sneaking in when people are vulnerable.

He was still riding high on that thought when—

Mashiru Shiina and Asada Shino came over with trays of food.

"Dinner's ready, Andrew," one of them said.

Asada Shino's face was bright red as she peeked at his expression.

She had made a few dishes herself today too.

Unlike Shiina's fancy skills, Shino could only make basic home-cooked meals. She grew up without much, so she wasn't sure if he'd like it.

But when Andrew gave her a thumbs-up, her beautiful face lit up with a huge smile.

Doesn't matter if the food's great or not—if he compliments her, that's all she needs!

Actually, the food really was pretty good. Shino was totally wife material—sweet, shy, and a great cook.

But if it were Yui Yuigahama who cooked?

Nope. Andrew wouldn't touch it with a ten-foot pole.

According to what he'd read, the cheerful and curvy Yui might look adorable, but she was horrible at cooking.

Even when following the recipe step by step, she still managed to make something straight out of a nightmare.

If you weren't watching her closely, she'd randomly throw weird stuff into the pot.

Her own mom had banned her from going anywhere near the kitchen.

"Achoo!"

Right as Andrew was roasting her in his mind, Yui Yuigahama—who was lying on her bed playing with her phone—sneezed hard.

She rubbed her nose and quickly dove under the covers.

"Weird… It's not even cold. Why am I sneezing—Achoo!"

"..."
