Chapter 23 - Chapter 23: Planning the Future

Shin was popular, in every sense of the word.

Although his video was restricted, and the displeased YT management repeatedly tried and failed to delete it, the video still spread through various channels and word of mouth.

We are no longer in an era where information and discourse are entirely controlled by platforms. Unless completely eradicated by official censorship, it's hard to completely erase an event. Even official channels need to coordinate massive shifts in public opinion to divert attention.

Clearly, "Boss Y" (another nickname for YT management) who loves ACGN doesn't have that capability, and wouldn't go to such lengths.

After all, while they called it infringement, strictly speaking, the video didn't use a single frame from the One Piece anime.

The overall copyright for One Piece belongs to the author Oda and Shueisha. The only parties truly qualified to challenge and demand the removal of this fan video are the actual copyright holders.

This created an awkward situation. YT wanted to send a lawyer's letter, but Shin wasn't afraid. YT didn't feel the need to sue. Under pressure from copyright police, YT's management could only choose to pretend to be ignorant.

The issue spread through word of mouth and strangely fermented in the absence of official intervention, eventually being spread overseas on Fb and X.

The first to share the video was the major YouTube anime blogger TAKI-kun. With his strong recommendation, the video quickly spread online.

The quality of the work was genuinely high. As for the infringement issue, without a statement from the author or Shueisha, any further criticism was pointless.

Major animation and game production companies both domestically and internationally were looking for "Dawn Lord" and his team. Many even falsely claimed to be the creator.

Frankly, if Shin stepped forward, he could immediately secure a massive investment he never dared to dream of.

His "strength" was undeniable; anyone capable of producing such high-quality work could certainly create other high-quality animations to meet various demands.

As the mastermind, Shin established the ID's reputation and then chose to ignore it.

No matter how hot the topic was now, it would cool down within a week, just like the any gameplay demo in his previous world. Without deliberate maintenance, the hype dissipated within a week.

Furthermore, no matter how high the current hype was, he couldn't gain any real benefits. Earning money from videos was out of the question. It wasn't time for him to reveal his identity, or perhaps, he had no intention of doing so for a long time.

Shin seriously considered what the System said. Appraisal points are derived from "changing the world." If a single anime production video could give him 74 points, then videos that are more "useful" would certainly yield more.

He planned to shoot a series of "One Piece fan videos," but frankly, the overall return probably wouldn't be optimistic.

The first step always causes the biggest sensation and creates the most buzz. The appraisal points Shin would gain from subsequent videos or live streams by entering the One Piece world and causing trouble would definitely be less than the first time.

The points would likely be halved and then decrease incrementally. After all, it was just entertainment content and didn't possess the characteristic of "changing the world."

A fan animation certainly wouldn't change the world, but what if... he actually followed the System's suggestion and made "other" videos?

Not just videos of him messing around, but videos like "manually building a nuclear fusion reactor."

This seemed difficult for him currently. Most E-rank exchange items were useless for anything other than messing around. The knowledge that came with exchange items was either incomprehensible, wildly fantastical, or useless.

This was, after all, "Mysterious Items Co., Ltd." not "Scientific Items Co., Ltd." Many exchange items are products from fields that run counter to science.

However, in the One Piece world, he could exchange for items from the full Gundam series.

While he couldn't bring the Gundams back, he could retain the "knowledge" within them, such as the overwhelming Human Gene Map. Although it contained a vast amount of useless information, he could pay a certain price to have the System simplify the knowledge.

Yes, while direct brain-dumping required an astronomical amount of appraisal points, simplifying the knowledge into a simple "textbook" for study didn't require much.

A simplified textbook revealing all the secrets of the human body, the Human Gene Map, only required 1000 appraisal points. While still currently out of Shin's reach, it pointed him in a clear direction.

In the One Piece world, using the "discounts" and "cheat" available in the novice world, he could earn points while purchasing and simplifying knowledge from the Gundam world, and then "manufacture" it in Parallel World 0013.

He didn't aim to create something that would immediately overturn human history, like a Minovsky reactor, but something that surpassed current human technological levels.

For this purpose, he needed "Dawn Lord"—an account with a large number of followers that could disseminate large amounts of information to achieve the goal of changing the world.

Watching his follower count rapidly increase and stabilize at 1.4 million, Shin satisfiedly closed his computer.

His future plan was roughly laid out. Now, he just needed to wait and work hard... and also, work hard for his daily life expenses.

Although he was the man who would change the world in the future, he still needed to eat now.

Shin sighed and opened his messaging app. The person on the other end was Machida Sonoko, Utaha's editor at Fantastic Bunko, which is part of Immortal River Bookstore.

Honestly, Fantastic Bunko had a significant gap compared to industry giants like Kadokawa or Dengeki Bunko. However, its advantage lay in the extensive industry connections of River Bookstore.

This meant good works could more easily get anime adaptations, making it easier for Shin to "cash in."

It is better to be a chicken head than a phoenix tail. Rashly joining a major Bunko and participating in a newcomer award would take time, even if he was sure to succeed. Shin didn't think this was a long-term venture. At most a year, he had to move on to "bigger business."

For short-term income, working with a medium-sized Bunko where Shin had personal connections was ideal.

Just then, a message arrived from the other side of the app.

She was asking to meet this afternoon...
