Chapter 98 - Chapter 98: A One-Minute Battle

Off the stage, when Shen Yi saw the members of the Sea Dragon Team, she couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief. With her strength, she could naturally see that not a single member of the Sea Dragon Team had reached the Soul Ancestor level.

Although the Sea Dragon Team's lineup consisted entirely of Soul Elders, on her side, there were even two mere Great Soul Masters, one of whom was a support-type Soul Elder.

But it didn't matter. A single Soul Ancestor was more than enough to bridge that gap—let alone the fact that they had two, both of whom were from Shrek Academy. And the weight behind a Shrek Soul Ancestor was very different from that of an ordinary one.

Moreover, the support-type Soul Elder on their side wielded the Seven Treasures Glazed Tile Pagoda. Her amplification alone was enough to push the entire team's combat strength up by a whole major realm.

Below the fifth ring, the amplification of the Seven Treasures Glazed Tile Pagoda was nearly unmatched. Above five rings… that was another matter, depending on whether the opponent possessed battle armor.

To be frank, ever since the advent of battle armor, no group had been more awkwardly positioned than support-type soul masters.

It was just like ten thousand years ago when soul tools rapidly developed—the speed of advancement had given support-types offensive capabilities, blurring the line between them and battle soul masters.

But after battle armor emerged, even a one-word battle armor's amplification was enough to let a Soul King fight evenly with a Soul Sage. Wasn't that more reliable than a support-type?

Especially in competitive team battles: if both sides had one-word battle armor, and one team had two Soul Kings while the other had only one strong attacker and one support… the imbalance was obvious.

Yes, soul tools could still help, but a support-type's lack of combat ability meant that the outcome still depended on whether their teammates could carry.

Once battle armor became widespread, even the amplifications of the Seven Treasures Glazed Tile Pagoda seemed much less overwhelming—except, of course, in the hands of true geniuses.

But geniuses were rare. Ordinary soul masters dominated the continent, so in most matches above the fifth ring, lineups with a strong attacker and a support were uncommon. Let alone one like Shrek's current team, which had two supports at once.

Just then, on the stage, a surge of intense blue light exploded at the center of the arena. Bolts of massive lightning cascaded down, enveloping the entire battlefield.

"What the hell? This again? We can't see anything!" A few spectators grumbled in frustration.

Inside the thunderstorm, Nan Fusheng could see what was happening. The moment the lightning appeared, a ten-thousand-year soul ring behind Yuan Tíngyuè had flashed—only then did the violent thunder erupt.

"So, that's how they won in a minute last time. It wasn't as easy as it looked—they relied on a ten-thousand-year soul skill, then combined perfectly with teammates to crush overconfident opponents."

Even within the lightning storm, Nan Fusheng remained utterly calm, even thoughtful.

Ahead, Yuan Tíngyuè was charging straight at him, his arms massively thickened, dragon scales covering them, transforming into a pair of formidable dragon claws.

Three more youths followed close behind. One of them had two yellow and two purple soul rings—another Soul Ancestor. Nan Fusheng recognized his martial soul: a Lightning Leopard.

The other two were twin brothers, both wielding Lightning Bird martial souls. Behind them, the Seven Treasures Glazed Tile Pagoda girl and Xu Lizhi were shielded by Ye Xinglan.

"Heh… since you're coming at me so eagerly, I'll let you taste our trump card. Let's see if this fight can be decided in under a minute."

Nan Fusheng didn't hesitate. If he didn't use his ultimate move, they had no chance against Shrek. Not losing outright would already be considered good.

The six teammates immediately closed in around him, each placing a hand on his body.

"Seven-in-One Martial Soul Fusion Technique!"

Their soul power and martial souls flowed into him, but instead of fully merging with Nan Fusheng, a massive phantom sea dragon manifested behind him. The very air grew heavy and damp.

Though elementally speaking, water should have been at a disadvantage against lightning, the sheer raw power of this fusion crushed everything else.

This was their ultimate move. In the world of Douluo, even a two-person fusion could allow a soul master to fight opponents two whole realms higher.

The greater the number and compatibility, the more terrifying the technique became.

The most famous example of the former was Huo Yuhao and Tang Wutong's 100% compatibility fusion. As for the latter, the Golden Iron Triangle's three-person fusion from twenty thousand years ago had let a Great Soul Master and two Soul Saints rival a Titled Douluo.

Now, with a sliver of power borrowed from Sequence Zero—"Error (Bug)", Nan Fusheng forcibly triggered a Seven-in-One Martial Soul Fusion.

And since all seven members were essentially him, their compatibility was naturally 100%.

With seven fused as one, the strength was unimaginable.

Nan Fusheng's soul power skyrocketed to the level of a Soul Sage in the seventies—without even needing battle armor.

His martial soul, supercharged by the bug's distortion, fused with the others into something greater: at least a super martial soul.

The pressure alone forced Yuan Tíngyuè and the others to halt, their faces blanching in shock.

Nan Fusheng now hovered in the air, a massive dark-blue sea dragon coiling around him. His azure eyes turned golden. He was no longer just a youth—he looked like a god, passing judgment from above.

The next instant, he vanished.

"Not good! Defend!" Yuan Tíngyuè barely had time to shout before crossing his claws in front of him. A colossal force slammed into him, launching him through the air.

Nan Fusheng followed with a teleportation step. One punch each—three more of Shrek's Soul Ancestors were sent flying unconscious. Their bodies, frail compared to Yuan Tíngyuè's, couldn't withstand the blows of a Soul Sage-level powerhouse.

What surprised him was that Yuan Tíngyuè had blocked his first strike.

"As expected of Shrek's elites—managing to take one of my punches. But I doubt your arms are fine after that, right?"

"Hss…"

Yuan Tíngyuè sucked in a sharp breath. Though he had stopped the blow, the terrifying impact left his arms completely numb. What kind of monster was this? That strength… impossible!

"This isn't a martial soul fusion. It's… a seven-in-one soul power fusion?" he thought in disbelief. Normally, such a fusion would require a long preparation time. He would never have guessed that sometimes… You could just exploit the bug.

Nan Fusheng gave him no time to think. Another punch smashed into Yuan Tíngyuè, sending him crashing to the ground, unconscious.

Then he turned—and saw a sword of starlight slashing toward his neck. It was Ye Xinglan, Shrek's fanatic. She had abandoned her teammates just to strike at him, murderous intent blazing.

Unfortunately, the gap was too wide. The sea dragon coiling around him casually snapped its jaws, locking onto her sword.

Ye Xinglan strained desperately, but it was as though her weapon had been clamped by an irresistible magnetic force. She couldn't move it an inch.

A massive hand closed gently around her delicate neck, lifting her into the air.

By this point, the outcome was clear. Four Shrek fighters were already down, Ye Xinglan was in his grasp, and the two supports left couldn't change a thing.

The lightning storm around the stage dissipated without its controller, revealing the battlefield once more.

From the moment the lightning appeared to the moment it faded, less than one minute had passed.
