Chapter 9 - Meeting the Parents

"Burp, Arima , why is Uncle Qu Feng so good to you?" Kushina asked with a burp.

"Did you eat too much?"

Hyuga Arima subconsciously reached out to rub her stomach.

Only when her warm, soft little belly was under his palm did he realize, and he quickly pulled his hand back.

By then, Kushina had already turned her head away in embarrassment, her face flushed, not daring to look at him.

"Cough," Arima covered his mouth and coughed lightly, "You've noticed it too, right? Uncle Qu Feng inviting me to do business with him is actually just a way to give me money. I don't know why he's so good to me…"

"I even suspected he was my biological father before," he laughed self-deprecatingly, "Too bad he isn't."

It really was a shame, because Akimichi Torifu was genuinely very, very good to him.

"The first time I met Uncle Qu Feng was when I was three," Hyuga Arima recalled. "Konoha is like spring all year round, it rarely snows as much as it did that year. Maybe because of that, no one in the clan brought me food for a whole day. I was so hungry that I had to go out alone to find something to eat…"

"How…how pitiful…" Kushina murmured.

Arima shook his head, a faint smile on his face: "As a result, as soon as I went out, I ran into Uncle Qu Feng, and then he fed me until I was stuffed, probably just like you are now."

He looked up at the endless stream of people around them and said softly, "I still can't figure out why he happened to be outside the gate, it was as if he was specifically waiting for me."

"Maybe it's fate," Kushina whispered, "Just like…just like us…"

We really aren't fate… Hyuga Arima thought to himself, but still nodded: "Yes, just like us, it's fate!"

Kushina quietly slipped her small hand into his, glancing to the other side: "What should we do this afternoon?"

Hyuga Arima squeezed her soft hand, intertwining their fingers.

"How about…we go to the training ground for a spar?" he mused for a moment.

That way he could analyze more Ninjutsu that Kushina knew… Ahem, that seemed a bit inhumane. Such a good opportunity, he should just trick her into coming home, then this and then that, and finally… Hmm!

"What?! Who goes fighting on a date?!"

Flames seemed to erupt from Kushina's red hair.

"Dates are just for fighting, the only difference is where you fight," Arima chuckled softly.

Kushina clenched her small fists.

Alert, alert, the little pepper's temper is about to burst!

"Just kidding," Hyuga Arima said softly, "Do whatever you want, go wherever you want."

"Really?"

Kushina looked up, her eyes sparkling.

Arima felt a little uneasy, but the words were out, so he could only nod: "Yes."

"Then you'll come home with me, I want to introduce you to Grandma." Kushina grabbed his hand and ran.

"Huh?!" Hyuga Arima exclaimed, "Meeting the parents?!"

"It's…it's not exactly meeting…meeting the parents…"

Kushina's small face was flushed, but the grip on his hand didn't lessen at all as she swiftly weaved through the streets and alleys.

"Grandma Mito!"

Arima passively followed, rushing with her into a traditional Japanese-style mansion spanning at least a thousand square meters.

As the First Hokage's widow and the Nine-Tailed Jinchuriki, Uzumaki Mito's status and treatment were comparable to that of a queen mother.

"Huh? Where's Grandma?"

Kushina stared blankly at the empty bedroom.

"Look over there."

Hyuga Arima stood at the doorway, pointing to the five-story pavilion on the right.

Kushina ran out, looked up, and saw Uzumaki Mito sitting at the top of the pavilion, smiling kindly at her.

Two Anbu Ninja wearing fox and bear masks stood behind her, carefully guarding her.

"Swish swish!"

Uzumaki Mito said something, and the two Anbu helped her descend using Body Flicker Technique, settling her into a prepared wheelchair, then disappearing again.

"Grandma, why did you go up to the pavilion?" Kushina quickly let go of Arima 's hand and went to the back of the wheelchair to support her.

"Grandma wanted one last look at Hashirama's hard work, so I can tell him what Konoha is like now," Uzumaki Mito said with a smile.

Kushina's eyes reddened: "Grandma…"

Uzumaki Mito reached out and patted her small hand, then looked up at Hyuga Arima : "He, is he the boy you fancy?"

"Greetings, Lady Mito!" Arima quickly bowed.

He held sufficient respect for this woman who had followed the First Hokage since the Sengoku period and suppressed the full Nine-Tailed by herself.

"Come, give me your hand," Uzumaki Mito suddenly said.

Though Arima found it strange, he still offered his hand as instructed, which was taken by that aged palm.

A dark red Chakra seemed to flash in her cloudy eyes, then quickly faded, and she soon released Arima 's hand.

"This little fellow isn't old, but his thoughts are quite heavy, harboring quite a bit of malevolence," Uzumaki Mito said slowly.

Hyuga Arima 's heart trembled… Was it the Nine-Tailed Jinchuriki's ability to sense malevolence?

But where would he have malevolence in his heart? Was it towards the Old Man Third Hokage?

Actually, it was fine, because he knew that the nuclear weapon, Kushina, had to be kept away from major clans, and any Hokage would instinctively want to control her.

"Grandma…"

Kushina called out with some worry.

"Don't be nervous," Uzumaki Mito's wrinkled brows smoothed out, "Everyone has malice in their heart, it's just a matter of more or less."

"Kushina, when you master the Nine-Tailed's power, you will find that everyone around you emits malevolence. You must learn to be tolerant of this, because that's just how people are," she said kindly.

"Yes, I understand."

Kushina relaxed.

Uzumaki Mito paused, then looked at Arima and said, "This child's Chakra is like a flame, blazing and warm. Kushina, you have very good taste."

"If you like each other, leave room for each other, don't let yourselves regret it in the future," she advised.

In the Naruto World, there were many people who got married at thirteen or fourteen, and it was normal for children to date at eight or nine.

So Uzumaki Mito's attitude didn't surprise Hyuga Arima .

He nodded solemnly: "Yes, Lady Mito."

"Don't call me Lady anymore, call me Grandma, just like Kushina," Uzumaki Mito smiled faintly.

Hyuga Arima was stunned: "Grand…Grandma?"

He seemed to be on the same generation as Tsunade? Was Grandma Mito a bit too thoughtful…

"Good child," Uzumaki Mito nodded kindly, then turned to Kushina, "How is your Adamantine Sealing Chains training coming along?"

"I…"

Kushina secretly glanced at Hyuga Arima , her small face a little red: "I can only use one Chakra chain."

"One…" Uzumaki Mito pondered for a moment, "That should be enough. Show Grandma."

Hyuga Arima 's ears perked up instantly.

The Uzumaki Clan's unique Sealing Technique! He wondered if he could analyze it.

If he could analyze even this…

Then his body's innate mysterious talent would be absolutely amazing!
