Chapter 80 - Chapter 80: The Chosen Next Hokage

Danzo still refused to accept this idea. "You're gambling Konoha's future on a vague and uncertain hope!"

"Just because Shen was born here doesn't mean everything he contributes belongs solely to the village. Even if in the end he leaves like Madara did, it would simply bring things back to where they started." Third Hokage explained the stakes to Danzo while also setting a policy for the two advisors. It was a policy concerning how to treat the Uchiha Clan moving forward. However, human greed made it necessary for him to remind these three men not to mess things up, or else all efforts would be wasted with nothing to show for it.

"I understand," Danzo said before sitting down. His gloomy expression, however, revealed his true feelings.

The three men quietly dismissed the scheming man's expression as unimportant.

This concerned a development plan vital to Konoha's future. They believed that despite Danzo's dissatisfaction, he wouldn't dare sabotage the project directly. Still, they knew his nature as a mastermind meant some behind-the-scenes maneuvering was inevitable.

"Now then, let's discuss Konoha's future direction."

The Third Hokage proceeded to outline a comprehensive renovation plan for Konoha, including the addition of large-scale barriers and the establishment of a new research department.

After witnessing the various inventions created by a certain young genius, he had come to believe firmly that shinobi relying solely on personal strength had no future — vigorously advancing science and technology became his vision for Konoha in recent years.

Meanwhile, at the residence of the Uchiha clan head, our kid genius was dramatically recounting his tragic fate to his family during dinner.

"Tell me, where's the fairness in this world? Any law left at all?" He sat upright with a serious face, solemnly complaining to his family about a certain 'enemy.'

"Pfft, so this is your day too, huh? You punk!" Kazushi couldn't help but spray the half-chewed food from his mouth as soon as he heard Shen say something so ridiculous with a completely straight face.

His image at this moment created a massive contrast compared to the dignified Uchiha clan head seen during the day.

"Old man, don't you have any shame? You're way too old to learn proper table manners!" A thoroughly annoyed Shen immediately exploded.

What does he mean by saying "you finally got what's coming"? It sounded like he thought Shen deserved this.

"So what? I'm your father after all."

"Dad, you're disgusting!"

"Only a shameless old fart can deal with a smart-ass kid like you."

"You're asking for it!"

"I'm proud to be shameless."

...

Shen had absolutely nothing to say anymore, utterly defeated by Kazushi's shameless expression. He never expected the guy had picked up all his old tricks. At this moment, he truly felt like he'd shot himself in the foot.

"How's that, you punk? Can't beat me in an argument, can you? La la la la la la la la la..." The cheerful clan head actually began humming a tune.

Unfortunately, this tune only made Shen's already sour face look even worse, and even Aiko sitting beside him started twitching her eyes slightly.

"Kid, with your wild temper running loose in the shinobi world, it might not be a bad thing. It seems Lord Third intends to focus on cultivating your Team One."

"I know that, but I don't plan to succeed to the title of Hokage. Whoever wants that annoying position can have it. I don't want to face an office all day long."

Shen, who used to be a 996 office worker in his previous life, had an inexplicable fear of offices. There's no way he was going through that again in this life—being cooped up in an office all day long.

"Shen, how can you talk like that? Is the Hokage position really so unappealing to you?" Fugaku immediately voiced his disagreement.

As someone who deeply respected the Third Hokage, he couldn't stand anyone badmouthing the position. After all, he even named his own son Sasuke after the Second Pillar's father. Whether he had any hidden motives was another matter entirely.

"Aniki Fugaku, you must understand that staying in an office all day can cause frozen shoulder, cervical spondylosis, muscle soreness, and insufficient cerebral blood supply."

A string of medical terms left the three of them completely baffled.

"The most serious consequence could affect one's waist—the most important part of a man's body. Just think about what kind of consequences that might lead to?"

The three stooges shook their heads in unison, claiming total ignorance.

Shen pushed up his nonexistent glasses, then adopted a mysterious expression as he revealed the secret: "It could lead to infertility, everyone! Don't underestimate the dangers of that tiny little office."

"???" x3

The trio now wore expressions just like those confused meme faces you see online, utterly clueless about such shocking consequences.

"So let whoever wants the Hokage position take it. I don't want to end my days suffering from illnesses," Shen concluded with his usual tone.

Fugaku pondered briefly before raising a question: "But doesn't becoming Hokage mean you'd be in charge of the entire village? If you don't stay in the office, who could possibly force you to?"

"!!!" x3

The other three were stunned by this new insight. Considering how much he respected the Third Hokage, they weren't surprised he could see through the issue so quickly.

Actually, Fugaku really was quite clever.

Shen immediately began considering: "Right, it was only since the old man Third became Hokage that the tradition of sitting in the office all day began."

The First Hokage clearly wasn't someone who holed up in his office all day long. It was impossible to imagine him seriously sitting in an office doing paperwork.

As for the Second Hokage, it was even more impossible—he somehow managed to develop various kinjutsu while handling paperwork inside his office. This transmigrant absolutely refused to believe that he was some sort of time-management master.

It seemed that the Third Hokage had divided power and imposed constant oversight on the top ranks of the village administration. So if he ended this practice in his era, wouldn't it pave a bright path for the future heir?

Having reached his solution, Shen slammed the table: "I'm going to become Hokage! This unhealthy tradition must be abolished!"

"" x3

The three companions suddenly had too many things to say but couldn't find the words. They all suspected that the energetic Uchiha genius standing before them might actually be off his rocker.

"You damn well really are a genius!"

Kazushi blurted out those words unexpectedly, but immediately regretted them the moment they left his mouth.

"My dear, what did you just say?"

Under Aiko's deadly gaze, Kazushi quickly corrected himself: "Shen, you're truly a genius! I wholeheartedly support such an amazing idea!"

Seeing his wife's eyes soften, Kazushi finally relaxed. He could swear to the Sage of Six Paths that he hadn't meant to say those words on purpose.

(The Sage of Six Paths made no response and quietly exited the Live Broadcast Room.)

"Tch, old man, what good is your approval? If becoming Hokage were that easy, it'd be a position you could find a hundred of on any street corner." Shen had particularly profound memories of Prince spending three years after three years learning.

Even with a Six Paths-level advantage, one would still need around ten years of preparation before attempting to become Hokage. As for certain reincarnators with only minor advantages, they'd probably need serious planning if they really wanted to chase the Hokage position.

"Brat, who are you looking down on? The Uchiha clan isn't lacking in money. When our clansmen cause trouble, everything will still remain rock-solid."

"My dear, you're onto something! Once the paper takes off, we can roll out some serious promotion—paint him as a genius on par with the Sage of Six Paths, even the strongest ninja in history. A few years of aggressive marketing and that Hokage seat will practically fall into our laps."

"Exactly, Aiko. We can also do this..."

The Uchiha couple began making various plans. Their excited expressions looked as if the next Hokage had already been predetermined as someone from the Uchiha clan.

"When Shen comes of age, we can arrange for him to teach children of influential families across all major clans. Then those families would surely support him becoming Hokage."

Hearing their plans already extended to his adulthood, Shen immediately started questioning life: "So I've suddenly become the Uchiha clan's only beacon of hope?"

"Ahhh! What are you doing, Shen!"

Staring absentmindedly at the moon, the unnamed reincarnator named Ray sitting beside Fugaku gave his own thigh a pinch and sighed in realization, "So this is the real world after all!"

Seeing Fugaku bow his head and rub his leg, the Uchiha couple temporarily paused their discussion. They decided to continue this conversation... ehem, scratch that... inside their bedroom.

Thus, the plan known as "Uchiha Revival" was born. Their plan centered around the clan's rising star—their very own protagonist, Shen Uchiha, who was now being groomed for the Hokage title.
