Inside the Hokage Tower Office, the Third Hokage, upon learning that a certain subject under close observation was driving toward the Hyuga clan compound, immediately grabbed his crystal ball for some sneaky surveillance.
Unfortunately, despite activating his Telescope Technique right away, he still missed the beginning of the conversation.
"Nayou, hit them a few times when we get there."
"Whatever. If their bodies are really that tough, they can take a hundred hits easily."
Struggling to keep up with the speeding vehicle, the Third Hokage could only make out these words via lip reading:
"If hundreds more won't do, I don't believe it won't work eventually!"
"Don't go overboard. What if you actually hurt someone seriously?"
After picking up on these wild-sounding words, the Third Hokage's eyes instantly widened and his entire body froze.
"No worries; my old man will cover for me."
"What if he can't cover it?"
"At worst, I'll work under the Third for a year or two and everything will blow over."
"Won't that be bad? It might get bigger."
"Just leave the village to lay low for a while. A year is more than enough."
Watching the increasingly bizarre expression on the Third Hokage's face, he deeply regretted not having broken up that pair of lovebirds earlier. No way those words were spoken by kids only twelve years old!
"My head... My head hurts. The Uchiha and Hyuga might end up at war soon," he groaned, rubbing his temples before carefully putting the crystal ball away.
As Hokage, he couldn't bring himself to imagine—let alone witness—what would happen next.
Though he admitted he had certain unusual habits, he certainly wasn't interested in observing anything live—especially not involving two twelve-year-olds.
Five minutes earlier, inside Indra's Ship, roaming around Konoha.
After explaining his plan, Shen turned to his friend Nayou for feedback: "Once we get there, what do you think about hitting them a few times?"
"If they're as tough as you say, then slamming them a hundred times won't hurt their kind at all," Nayou replied.
Shen thought it sounded great: "Hundreds of hits—there's no way their defense won't crack eventually. You know that too, right?"
"Just don't go too far. What if you end up hurting someone seriously? Kumogakure would blame Konoha. We can't let that happen," Nayou expressed serious concern.
"Don't worry. I'll have my dad handle the apology; he'll make sure I'm protected."
"But what if he can't save you? What happens if you end up hurting someone?"
Seeing the worry on Nayou's face, Shen frowned as he revealed his final solution: "At most, I'll work under the Third for a year or so. Then everything will settle down."
"Handing this matter over to the Hokage sounds risky. Once Kumogakure finds out, things might escalate."
"In that case, we simply leave the village to avoid trouble. One year should be more than enough time for things to settle down."
Nayou nodded, accepting Shen's plan.
Killing the Kumogakure envoys was only the worst-case scenario—their real plan was to create an opportunity for each other to sabotage the mission.
At the Uzumaki clan compound, Shūya stood with more than thirty clansmen, introducing the prosperity of the compound to the Kumo envoys with a gloomy expression.
Mito greeted Kushina before heading straight to the Commercial Street for some hotpot.
Considering the physical constitution of the Uzumaki, Mito wasn't much of a concern.
"This is the training ground. Next door is the Sealing Technique Research Laboratory." Clearly displeased, Shūya barely even looked at the Kumo envoys as he spoke.
As the Uzumaki clan head, he had to carry out these duties, but they were nothing more than obligations to him—he didn't really care how others responded.
It would be best if a fight broke out right here. What could this dozen or so people possibly do? If every Uzumaki clansman landed just one punch, wouldn't they all drop dead on the spot?
Shūya, whose personality was increasingly resembling that old geezer's, secretly hoped the Kumogakure side would get angry and storm out immediately.
"This really is impressive, Clan Head Shūya. Just how big is this training ground anyway?" Ji perfectly played the part of a country bumpkin seeing the city for the first time.
Unaware that Ji was testing him, Shūya felt delighted by this question: "About two or three square kilometers. There are quite a few alleyways over there, and recently the streetlights have been acting up, flickering randomly late at night."
Ji's eyes immediately lit up as he secretly rejoiced: "Looks like I can send some people to set up an ambush here in a few days."
After showing off slightly, Shūya noticed the Kumo envoys maintained very polite attitudes, so he led them toward the next destination.
Circling Konoha several times aboard Indra's Ship, Shen received news from his Shadow Clone and turned the ship toward the Uzumaki clan compound.
"Nayou, shall we accelerate now?"
"Can this speed actually match airplanes? You're really leaving the village tomorrow?"
Nayou's words reminded Shen—the top speed of this Indra's Ship was comparable to Hagoromo's Ship flying through the sky.
Anyone hit by this vehicle who lacked sufficient power wouldn't survive, right?
"What about finding someone strong? That way we won't need hundreds of back-and-forths—we could stir up huge trouble in one go." Shen believed it necessary to make Kumogakure feel their terrifying power.
Years ago, he'd nearly died at their hands. Now that he had the opportunity, he naturally wanted full revenge; otherwise, he'd carry psychological scars for life.
When Nayou heard him speaking so seriously about resolving his own psychological issues opportunistically, she realized this person just hated Kumogakure.
"Do whatever you want, just don't kill anyone." She coldly tossed out those words before closing her eyes to meditate.
Crashing into people would inevitably trigger an immediate battle.
Nayou considered this a great opportunity to test her progress over the past few years.
"Well then, that guy looks dark-skinned and bulky—he must be from the same family as that guy B from years ago. At most, hitting him would break limbs or something similar." Shen grinned eerily as he spoke.
Who else could be his target besides Ji himself?
At the Uzumaki clan compound, walking down the main road, Ji felt he'd tested enough and proposed returning to Konoha Grand Hotel to rest.
"Fine, I'll personally escort you to the compound entrance," Shūya thought he should act fully committed—it wouldn't hurt him to see them off anyway.
Ji also believed in complete performance: "No need to bother, Clan Head Shūya. Please stop here. Today I truly appreciate the Uzumaki clan's warm hospitality."
Having said that, he turned and walked toward the compound entrance.
Looking at the seventeen retreating figures ahead of him, Elder Shūya suddenly slapped his head and shouted after them, "Today, the Uzumaki clan has only done what was required of us—don't think the Cloud Village gets off that easily!"
The line of Kumo envoys halted in unison.
Ji glanced back earnestly and said, "Please rest assured, Elder Shūya. We'll come again soon, and you'll see our sincerity by then."
"Vroom!" An engine's roar cut him off mid-sentence, scattering his words into thin air.
Ji naturally knew exactly where that noise came from.
Before he even fully turned his body around, he transformed into a human-shaped meteor streaking across the sky.
"F*cking hell! Is this dude some kind of scammer? Who just walks down the street asking to die?!" Shen stormed out of his car, already pointing fingers and cursing angrily.
"???"
Elder Shūya and the other Uzumaki members were all wearing confused looks—what in the world just happened? One moment that guy was fine, and the next, he flew off like that?
