Chapter 3 - CHAPTER 3

"Hello, pretty." Lora's POV

I paused preplaced. How did they have the guy barge into the Alpha's room?

I looked around, all eyes on me as he expected me to speak. I gulped and paused, fear engulfing me as I spoke.

"I…" I paused my words as I heard his voice.

"How dare you?" He spoke, his voice sending shivers down my spine. I looked down, feeling weak from fear. "How could you accuse my mate of such a thing?"

He said, his voice stern and commanding.

Then, it hit me. My heart raced as his words hit my ears. 'My mate,' he had already declared to me.

I turned to him sharply, throwing him a glare to show my defiance, but all he did was smile at me.

"Also, who permitted you to barge into my room like that. Where did your manners go?" He spoke, his voice shaking the walls in the room.

I stood there, mortified.

Was this the person who was sent to kill? How fast my life would have been gone if I weren't his mate.

The guards fell to their knees. His voice weakened them to the bones.

"We're sorry. We just really…"

One said, his voice cracking from fear as he lowered his head.

"You still have excuses? Go get your punishment." He said, and they nodded while walking out.

I stood, trying to process what had just happened. The same person who looked like a puppy after he recognised me as his mate was the same person who gave this command?

My mind ran with countless thoughts before his voice jerked me out of it.

"So why are you here?" He asked, and my eyes widened. I blinked, unsure of what to say.

I wasn't prepared for this.

"I saw a bounty." I lied, hoping he would believe, but his eyes told a different story.

"Yes, a bounty is a reward for whoever could take your life," I said nervously as I lowered my head. Peeking to see if he believed my lies.

He chuckles.

"Yeah, I get that a lot."

"And you took it, weren't you afraid to die?" He asked, his eyes squinting with disdain.

"I was, really, but…" I paused, unsure of which lie to tell as I looked him right in the eyes. He smiled as he moved closer to me.

"For whatever reason, it is, I can assure you. You would never want to do it again." He smirked, raising my head to his, which I immediately lowered.

He smiled yet again, passing around the room. "As long as you're willing." He said, and I paused him immediately.

"I'm not. I'm unwilling." I said, and he smirked, his demeanour calm as ever, you would never expect what he said next.

"Alright, then serve the punishment." He said, and within a second, some guards walked in and dragged me away. I cursed beneath my breath as I turned towards him.

"Please…" I begged but stopped. I could never give him what he wanted.

So why bother?

***

I lay on the bed, devising my plan to escape, when I heard footsteps. I sat up immediately as I waited in anticipation of who it was.

"That's her cell." The guard said, and I sighed, laying back. Though I was only here for a few hours, I knew the guard's voice fully well.

I got comfortable. Trying to devise another plan when his voice came through, throwing me up in a second. "How is she faring in there?"

He said, his voice laced with a little bit of concern.

"She seems okay with it." The guard replied, and my eyes widened as I sat on the floor, curling up to look pitiful.

I sat for a few more minutes before I heard the door click open. I waited for a few seconds, counting with my breath as I raised my head.

We stared at each other for a while before he spoke. "Don't you feel it?" He asked, his eyes filled with anticipation.

I knew at that moment for sure that my ticket to salvation was this, but I took a deep breath, lowering my head as I said. "Feel what?"

He stared at me, perplexed, taken aback by my words. He stood there unmoving for some seconds before he smiled. "Really?" He asked, probably having a solution in mind.

"Why did you reject my offer then? Don't you want to live?" He asked, and I sighed, massaging my temples.

"Maybe because I thought you wanted to ask for something impossible," I said, and he raised a brow. Bending to my level, staring dead into my eyes.

"Impossible? It's not difficult." He said, and I sighed.

I lowered my head even further, unwilling to talk.

"Alright, if you're going to say that, then I'll tell you. You're my mate. And you should have the advantages you serve. Whether you feel it or not, it doesn't matter." He paused. His eyes met mine in a split second.

He smirked. His smirk sends chills down my spine.

"I want you as mine. And I'll wait till whenever you can feel it. All you need is to go with me," he said, looking towards me to see my reaction.

I stared. My breath caught in my throat. If I agreed, then I would be tied with him forever, but if I didn't…

I thought before he spoke up.

"I'll let you think about it, like I said, I'm not in a hurry." My eyes twitched as he said that. He gave me his creepy smile again before he walked out.

I lay motionless, sitting right there, countless thoughts running through my mind, when the door opened AGAIN.

But this time, it was a young lady who walked in. She held a bag in her hands with a calm aura as she stood.

I stared at her face, trying to figure out where she came from, when she spoke up. A smile was plastered on her face.
