"Noah its time to get up we have to get to church!" Noah heard from his mom but grumbled as he rolled his body closer to the wall where his bed was tucked by. Noah nearly fell back to sleep before he heard his dad say "Boy if I have to go in there you will be punished."
Noah sat up from his bed quickly and yelled "I just need to get dressed!" Noah jogged over to his walk in closet. He grabbed a pair of his black dress pants and quickly put them on. Then grabbed a white long sleeve shirt that had a collar that raised at the neck. Most of his clothes were white, black, or shades of grey. Apparently color didn't suit him according to his father. Before he put the shirt on he brought up his arm to take a whiff. 'Good I'm fine enough to go without a shower. If I take much longer father will surely start World War 3'
Noah put on deodorant before slipping his shirt over his head and putting it on. He then went to look at himself in the full length mirror as he brushed his hair. Noah was pale with snow white hair and light blue eyes. Similar eyes to his father's although his had a light and kindness that his father's did not.
Noah grabbed the sunscreen that he had to beg his parents to get. His parents refused to believe how easy Noah got sun burns even after his face bled red and blisters popped up. An occasion that had happened to him more than once in which his parents ignored. They believe that the reason Noah looked the way he did was because he was blessed by God and not that he had some condition that made him burn in the day. On Noah's last birthday he asked for sunscreen and only sunscreen. His parents seemed to get the hint and went ahead and bought him sunscreen and then on they got it for him whenever he asked.
Noah smiled at the mirror before leaving it and heading to his bathroom in his room to brush his teeth. He then walked out of his room and went down the hall of the house to arrive in the dinning room where his father and mother already sat with food on the table waiting for him so they could eat their food. Andrew and Mary looked up at Noah seeing that he had finally arrived. "Hurry and sit Noah, you are no longer a child you are fourteen today and I expect you to act your age and not be late." Noah sat down quickly at the table that held four chairs and then apologized about his tardiness.
"Happy Birthday Noah! I made your favorite breakfast, pancakes!" Mary said smiling at her child.
Noah smiled back "Thanks mom!" he replied but waited to eat as usual his eyes leaving his mothers and landing on his fathers.
His father also had a smile on his face which Noah found odd. His father just didn't smile much or laugh or show much emotion at all. "Yeah, well even though pancakes are just a cake for breakfast. I and your mother figured being fourteen for the first time is a special occasion that deserved a reward."
Noah's eyes widen not expecting his strict father to actually letting him indulge of any occasion even his birthday. "Thanks father." Noah replied.
Andrew then lower his smile as he said "Alright lets pray and then eat!"

It was the end of the church day as night was creeping in and people were leaving. Noah was beside his father his mother had already left with Sally her best friend. Jonas had whispered something to his father and that had led to his mother and Sally leaving. As he was about to follow his mother like usually his father stopped as he said "Actually Noah stay with us. You are now old enough to help purify demons with us."
Noah had a cold feeling coming over his chest as he remembered all throughout his childhood his father would talk about the mutants that were showed on the news and on the newspapers. His father would often refer to them as demons and so would his mother. Noah didn't like mutants thats for sure but he never thought of them as demons and what did his father meant by purifying them.
Noah looked up at his father as he asked "Do you purify the demons by taking away their abilities?" Andrew and Jonas looked at each other before looking back at Noah it was Jonas that replied "Well I guess they do end up losing their abilities. But our main purpose is to destroy the demon that they have become." Noah felt better as he realized that purifying would just be taking away their abilities. "Alright when do we leave?" Noah asked.
"Now" his father responded before making his way out of the church with both Jonas and Noah tagging along. Noah was in the back seat of the car when he heard his father questioning Jonas about the demon.
"What's its age?" Andrew asked. Unlike in the past he gathered more intel. He could remember a time not long ago where he didn't get enough information on the demon and the demon scarred his face and then got away. Andrew would never let that happen again.
"Twenty-five." Jonas replied. Andrew nodded as his face became more stern. 'Twenty-five is a prime age this demon would be in their prime.' Andrew thought.
"Gender?" Andrew asked once more another question.
"Male" Jonas replied.
Andrew now frowned he even wondered if his son should go on this one. Not only is the demon in its prime but it is also male. Andrew shook his head he didn't know when the next one would come about and he needed get Noah to have some experience. It was bad enough that Mary had delayed it when he was thirteen but now the boy is fourteen. There's no going back Noah is coming with them.
"What's the demon's abilities?" Andrew asked. His thoughts were hoping that they would not be powerful.
Jonas sighed as he replied "That's complicated. You see according to our source he was drinking at the Bosky Bar in the next town. Its his usual spot but there was a bar fight and someone threw a glass bottle at someone, that person dodge and it hit the demon but before it could hit him he turned what looked like his skin into wood to lesson the impact. So our source inferred that his ability is to convert his skin into wood."
Andrew felt a headache form that wasn't a weak ability. "We may need backup have you informed Harry of the location?"
"Yes. Harry will be there along with Tom. There is one other thing." Jonas said glancing at Andrew nervously from the divers seat.
"What is it?" Andrew asked not liking the tense feeling he was getting from Jonas.
"The demon is not caught. Everyone in the bar knows that he is a mutant but their to scared to have tried anything. Instead they want us to catch him and to purify him."
Andrew sighed even though this was not idle it was predictable not all demons were given to them on a silver platter the weaker ones yes but the stronger demons it was usually up to them to catch. But still he had hoped that the demon would have already been caught.
"Is it at the Bar now?" Andrew asked.
"Not yet but soon from my sources the demon arrives at the bar every night at 9:00 p.m. Its 8:20 now and by time we get there it should be 8:30."
Andrew nodded and there seemed to be a hit of a smile on his face. He had to admit the adrenaline running through his veins was only making him more excited. Its been a while since they went against a demon this strong. Andrew's only worry was of Noah getting hurt.
Andrew glanced at his son in the back using the rear view mirror. Noah was looking through his side window trying to give him something to do on the long drive.
"Noah."
Noah looked away from the mirror and towards his dad. "Yes father?" Noah asked.
"As you heard we are going against a powerful demon. You have to follow all my orders and directions so that you stay safe alright?"
Noah nodded as he replied "I will do as you advice Father!" Noah could also feel some excitement come along as he was about to see his father purify a demon for the first time. There was a grin on his face and Andrew seeing that grin made his own set of lips curve up.
"How much longer till were there Jonas?" Noah asked.
Jonas smiled clearly amused by the boys anticipation. "Not long now Noah soon you will see how bad as-"
"LANGUAGE!" Andrew yelled.
Jonas hesitated as he said "Sorry. Anyways Noah your about to see how cool your father and I are!"
Second chapter done! Shorter than the first but I had to hold off on the action for the next chapter cliff hanger kind of thing. Noah doesn't know exactly what his Father does and he's about to find out. I have debates on when Noah will awaken his mutant abilities. I can tell you either way it will be soon! Tell me your thoughts on the chapter.
