Departing from Pomelo Island, Natsui and Sabrina continued their journey north.
This time, their destination was the last of the four Orange League gyms—the Trovita Gym.
The Trovita Gym was located on Trovita Island, but it was a very long way from Pomelo Island. It could be said that one was in the south and the other in the north, at opposite ends of the Orange Archipelago.
Even on Charizard, it would take at least a full day and night of flying to get there, and they would even have to pass by Shamouti Island again along the way.
The sea breeze brushed against their faces.
Riding the wind, Charizard carried them for a long time. Seeing the sky slowly darken and his bottom growing numb from sitting, Natsui decided not to push on. He patted Charizard's neck and had it land on a nearby island.
There was still a long way to go, and with nothing urgent, there was no need to rush.
As they descended, they looked down and saw that the small island was covered in dense trees. After flying over a huge forest, they finally spotted a bustling town by the sea.
This discovery brought Natsui some relief. Thankfully, it wasn't a deserted island, or else they would have had to camp out in the wild for the night.
"Are we resting here?" Sabrina asked softly.
Natsui grunted in affirmation. "Although sleeping in a tent is nice, to be honest, a soft bed in a town and readily available hot water are the best ways to relieve travel fatigue."
Sabrina nodded in agreement.
He was right. If a bed was an option, who would want to sleep in a tent every day?
However, after entering the town, they made a new discovery.
Walking down the wide streets, they noticed that almost every trainer here was accompanied by a Bug-type Pokémon.
Even some wild Bug-type Pokémon boldly peeked out from around the town, seemingly unafraid of the residents.
After walking a few hundred meters, Natsui took careful note.
Caterpie, Weedle, Pinsir, Venonat, Paras, and even Butterfree, Beedrill, and Scyther were everywhere.
It felt… as if this place was a paradise for bug Pokémon. And the people here seemed completely used to it, as if it were the most normal thing in the world.
"So many Bug-type Pokémon!"
Sabrina frowned. As a woman, she naturally disliked bugs.
"Yeah, there are quite a few," Natsui said, sensing the distaste in her voice. He stroked his chin and analyzed, "It's probably related to that forest next to us. After all, from the sky, it looked very dense. While not as vast as the Viridian Forest, it's still quite large and would definitely be a suitable habitat for Bug-type Pokémon to thrive."
Following the street, the two arrived at a hotel and checked in at the front desk.
The receptionist was a pretty young woman. Seeing the handsome man and beautiful woman, she quickly stood up and bowed lightly.
"Welcome."
Through their conversation, Natsui learned from her that the island they were on was called Murcott Island.
And just as he had guessed, it was indeed famous for its large population of Bug-type Pokémon. It was said that the forest outside the town was home to at least ten thousand of them.
Her gaze shifted between the two of them, and the receptionist smiled. "How many rooms would you like?"
"Two rooms," Sabrina said concisely, as was their usual practice.
"Alright."
The receptionist was about to register them, but Natsui stopped her with a cheerful smile.
"Wait, let's just get one."
Seeing Sabrina look at him strangely, Natsui shrugged. "Getting two is a waste. One is better. We can use the money we save to get a more comfortable room."
Hearing this excuse, Sabrina couldn't help but roll her eyes at him.
Clearly, Natsui was pushing his luck again, not even bothering to hide his intentions anymore.
But even knowing his impure motives, the current Sabrina was no longer able to refuse him…
Seeing that the lady didn't object, the receptionist, being quite perceptive, really did just book one room for them.
After paying and getting the key card, Natsui was clearly in a good mood, humming an unknown tune as he led the way.
Sabrina followed behind him with her arms crossed, shaking her head in resignation as she also entered the room.
That night, the moonlight was the same as ever.
And Natsui, needless to say, got his wish once again, enjoying a night of passion.
…
Natsui once again slept until the sun was high in the sky before lazily getting up.
The pillow next to him was empty. He looked for Sabrina and saw that she was already washed and dressed, sitting gracefully at the table, elegantly eating breakfast.
On the table, her phone screen was still lit, as if she had just finished a call with someone.
Seeing Natsui's eyes open, Sabrina said softly, "What's wrong? Did I wake you?"
Natsui shook his head, got dressed, and sat down beside her.
"What's the matter? You look so serious. Did someone call you?"
Sabrina lifted her chin slightly, gesturing towards the phone screen.
"It was Mr. Goodshow, the president of the Pokémon League. He wants me to return to Saffron City to resume my duties at the Saffron Gym."
"Hmm?" Hearing this, Natsui's brow furrowed. "Didn't you say your father was managing the gym for you? Why do they want you to go back?"
Sighing, Sabrina said, "It seems these people believe that only with me in charge of the gym can they feel at ease."
Natsui found it strange. "Isn't your father the previous Gym Leader? Isn't having him watch over the gym enough? Does the Pokémon League not trust his skills?"
"After all, I am the current Gym Leader who defeated him. They clearly value me more than my father," Sabrina snorted, seeming to resent the Pokémon League's mandatory arrangements. However, seeing how much Natsui cared about whether she stayed or left, her heart warmed, and she said to him gently, "Alright, don't worry about them. I didn't agree. And even if I don't go back, there's nothing they can do to me."
Although Sabrina said this, hearing the news still worried Natsui.
Now that he and Sabrina were so close, wanting to be together every night, he naturally didn't want her to leave.
However, being a Gym Leader was her job, and Natsui understood that if she didn't want to lose that position, they would have to part ways sooner or later.
Sigh, what a headache.
Well, I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. I'll just take it one step at a time.
After Natsui also finished his breakfast, the two left the hotel. However, they didn't leave Murcott Island right away. Instead, they went to the forest next to the town.
Since they had come to this island, they naturally had to explore it and see if there were any Pokémon worth catching.
