Chapter 621 - Chapter 620: Battle Against Wally

Natsui and the boy stood on opposite sides of the battlefield. Misty and the middle-aged man stood behind the two trainers to watch.

At this time, there were many people in a park in Mauville City. Most were skateboarding, walking dogs, or running. Apart from them, no one was using the battlefield.

However, battling is the most popular sport in this world. Seeing that a battle was about to take place, the idle people gathered around.

The crowd grew larger and larger. Soon, more than twenty people stood outside the field.

There were men, women, old people, and young people. They looked at the two in the center with curiosity. They secretly guessed what kind of Pokémon they would use.

Natsui had seen this many times, so he could ignore such a scene. But the little boy on the opposite side was obviously being watched by so many people for the first time.

He looked around nervously. He seemed very tense and cramped.

He only came back to his senses when he noticed Natsui taking a Poké Ball from his waist bag slowly. He took a deep breath and focused his attention on the match.

He bowed to Natsui again.

"My name is Wally," he said. "Please take care of me."

Since the other party gave his name, Natsui naturally had to tell his opponent his name out of politeness. However, given his age, he did not need to bow to a child.

He just nodded.

"My name is Natsui," he said with a smile. "I am a traveling trainer."

After the introductions, Wally also took out his Poké Ball.

Because it was a street battle, there were not many rules aside from sending out Pokémon at the same time. Even a referee was not needed.

Almost simultaneously, the two threw their Poké Balls into the field.

As two lights flashed, their participating Pokémon appeared in front of everyone.

Natsui followed the principle of training while fighting. In this battle, he sent out Combusken, who had just evolved not long ago.

Wally's Pokémon was a bit unexpected. It was a Ralts.

It was only at this moment that Natsui vaguely remembered. This little boy named Wally seemed to have appeared in the games.

That was a coincidence.

He did not expect to meet this person here.

Withdrawing his gaze from the boy, Natsui looked at the Ralts in the field.

Because he owned one, he could tell at a glance that this Ralts was raised quite well. Both its state and spirit were quite full. It was clear that Wally was indeed a qualified trainer.

However, he remembered that Wally's Ralts should be male. It would eventually evolve into Gallade and show outstanding strength in the later stages.

Pulling his thoughts back to the field, Natsui looked at the battle situation.

Although Ralts was still in the initial stage, its physical fitness was certainly not as good as the second-stage Combusken.

But the Psychic-type Ralts had a type advantage over the Fire/Fighting-type Combusken. This made the battle harder than it looked.

Many people outside the field also saw this. They muttered a few words to their companions. Obviously, they did not look favorably on Combusken.

Even Wally felt much more relaxed.

After all, he was the one who challenged the other party. It also concerned whether he could challenge the gym. Of course, he wanted to win this battle more than Natsui. Seeing that his type had the advantage, he was naturally happy.

Seeing that both Pokémon were ready, Natsui and Wally looked at each other. Then, they gave commands at the same time with great tacit understanding.

"Ralts, use Confusion!"

"Combusken, use Sand Attack!"

From these two orders, one chose offense, and the other chose defense.

While Ralts used Confusion, Combusken kicked hard with its feet. It kicked a large patch of sand toward Ralts.

The next second, both of them were hit by the other's move.

Ralts was blinded by the sand. Combusken was hit by the Confusion and flew backward.

From the effect alone, it seemed that Ralts had the upper hand. But this could not be helped. Combusken had just evolved not long ago. It had not mastered some moves, and Natsui had not had time to train it.

Confusion is an invisible, medium-to-long-range attack. It is obviously not easy to dodge it with just two legs.

Knowing this, Natsui used Sand Attack to limit Ralts' subsequent means.

Now, although Combusken was hit by Confusion and flew back, Sand Attack clearly achieved the expected effect.

After Ralts was splashed in the face with sand, its eyes were blinded as expected. This made it impossible for it to continue pursuing. It could only use its fingers to try to rub the sand out.

Just then, Natsui hurriedly commanded Combusken to run quickly toward Ralts.

When it arrived at Ralts' half of the field, Ralts had also rubbed the sand out. It looked up, and the eyes of the two Pokémon collided.

"Ralts, use Confusion quickly!"

"Quick Attack!"

The two trainers gave orders at the same time again. Wally wanted to repeat the same trick. But this time, because the distance had been greatly reduced, Natsui's operating space was not as singular as before. He had more options.

Hearing Natsui's command, Combusken, who was approaching Ralts, accelerated suddenly again. It ran toward Ralts quickly in a Z-shaped trajectory.

Ralts' Confusion missed. It did not hit the opponent.

Seeing this scene, Wally was startled.

"Use Double Team quickly!" he shouted.

It could be felt that Wally was indeed a bit anxious.

But this was understandable. Everyone knows that once a Pokémon with the Fighting-type gets close, the consequences are undoubtedly terrifying.

Although Fighting-type moves are less effective against Ralts, once the distance is closed, it is hard to break free.

Ralts' image instantly split into four. The four Ralts made the same movements. Just by observing, it seemed impossible to distinguish the difference between them.

But Natsui had expected this move.

At the same time Ralts used Double Team, Combusken opened its mouth. It sprayed Ember. At close range, it covered all four Ralts!

The Ember passed through the other three images. It only left a large ball of fire on the real Ralts.

Ralts cried out in pain. Just then, Combusken arrived in front of it.

It used Double Kick on its body. Then it used Scratch. It knocked Ralts directly to the ground.

The whole battle did not last long.

However, the result surprised most people. They really did not expect that Combusken would achieve the final victory despite the type disadvantage.

Seeing his Pokémon lose, Wally's face fell instantly.

Seeing this, Natsui smiled slightly.

Although he knew the other party's intention, he was sorry. He did not plan to go easy in this match.

However, he could feel that although Wally had not been a trainer for long, this Ralts was indeed raised very well. If it were another novice trainer, they might really not be able to beat him.

Unfortunately, he really chose the wrong opponent this time. He actually focused his attention on Natsui. He was indeed unlucky enough.

Natsui was also quite ruthless. He did not reveal the gap between his strength and Wally's at all. He completely treated Wally as a sparring partner for Combusken.
