Chapter 17 - Chapter 17 – Sengoku: Does He Think I’m a Kid!?

As Momousagi was arranging the aftermath, the Den Den Mushi in her pocket suddenly rang.

Bilibilibilibili...

She quickly pulled it out and answered. Despite this being a mission with Admiral Good present, all the follow-up organization had somehow fallen to her shoulders. Meanwhile, Good was at the ship's bow, enjoying the sea breeze like he didn't have a care in the world.

Sigh…

With a helpless breath, she connected the call.

On the other end, Sengoku's calm and steady voice came through:

"Momousagi, what's that guy Good doing? Why can't I get through to him?"

Sengoku had just tried calling Good, but the line wouldn't connect. Left with no choice, he turned to Momousagi instead.

She glanced at Good, who stood at the bow with the wind in his face and a beaming grin.

He looked positively heroic in the moment.

Suppressing the speechless feeling in her heart, she didn't even need to ask to know the answer. She simply replied, "I believe Admiral Good probably didn't bring a Den Den Mushi."

Based on the time they'd spent together, she was confident that was the case.

Sengoku was silent for a moment.

Then he exhaled heavily and said, "Forget it. Reaching you is fine. So—how did the mission go? Did you successfully secure Shiki?"

Momousagi answered, "There were some unexpected developments… but we did manage to take custody of Shiki."

"Unexpected?" Sengoku's tone sharpened.

Military operations always required a full report afterward, and as Fleet Admiral, he had to know the details.

So Momousagi reported everything: how Shiki had escaped and damaged the Marine fleet, how he had fought Good, and ultimately, how Good subdued him.

She especially emphasized how Good used the Magu Magu no Mi (Magma-Magma Fruit) and Fuwa Fuwa no Mi (Float-Float Fruit).

Sengoku's surprised voice rang out.

"What?"

"Momousagi, are you sure about this? This isn't something to joke about."

As someone deeply knowledgeable about Devil Fruits, her claim sounded utterly absurd—even too wild for fiction.

But Momousagi firmly replied, "Everything I said is true, Fleet Admiral. Admiral Good really used both the Magma-Magma Fruit and the Float-Float Fruit. Everyone present can attest to it."

"…I see."

Sengoku was stunned, his thick brows furrowed.

He knew Momousagi well. She'd served under Tsuru and was no rookie. She wouldn't report something false.

But that just made it stranger—her report completely overturned everything he knew.

Good was using both the Magma-Magma Fruit and the Float-Float Fruit? Who would even believe that?

Even setting aside the issue of dual Devil Fruits, both Akainu and Shiki were still alive. The fruits hadn't reemerged. So where did Good get those powers from?

The shock made Sengoku feel like he was losing his grip on reality.

He asked, "Did Good explain how he got those abilities?"

He was eager now. He'd personally nominated Good to become the fourth Admiral, but suddenly the man felt deeply mysterious—like he was hiding a lot.

Momousagi answered seriously, "Yes. I asked."

Sengoku quickly said, "Well? Tell me!"

Momousagi opened her mouth hesitantly, unsure how to phrase it. Eventually, she replied:

"Admiral Good said… he got them from fighting."

"…Fighting?"

Sengoku's voice rose sharply in disbelief.

"That's right."

Momousagi pushed through, bracing herself: "He said that while fighting, he just… learned the Magma-Magma Fruit and the Float-Float Fruit powers."

There was a pause. Then Sengoku completely lost it.

"Does that guy think I'm a child!?"

"You—get him to fight me then! I wanna see him 'learn' my powers too!!"

Sengoku couldn't believe such an absurd explanation. He felt like he was losing brain cells. Was Good insane?

Devil Fruits weren't something you could learn!

But then he remembered… it was Good. And when it came to Good, having a few screws loose was normal.

Sengoku just groaned and rubbed his temples. After a long sigh, he muttered, "Forget it…"

He decided to question Good personally when he got back.

"We'll set that matter aside for now. I called for another urgent reason."

Momousagi's expression turned serious. "Yes, Fleet Admiral. What is it?"

Sengoku slowly exhaled and said, "Akainu and Kizaru… have engaged Whitebeard and Red-Hair."

Momousagi's face instantly changed.

Two Admirals were fighting two of the Four Emperors!? That was huge—world-shaking news if it got out.

"You want us to provide backup?" she asked quickly.

Sengoku's tone became noticeably more cautious: "Exactly. Head there immediately."

Just then, Good's voice suddenly rang out: "Momousagi, what's this about backup?"

He had overheard the word while catching the breeze, and immediately jumped down with a face full of excitement.

He scared Momousagi so badly she almost dropped the Den Den Mushi.

She shot him a look of pure frustration.

Still, she quickly explained, "Akainu and Kizaru are currently in combat with Whitebeard and Red-Hair. The Fleet Admiral is ordering us to assist."

"Akainu and Kizaru are fighting Whitebeard and Red-Hair!?" Good's eyes gleamed.

Without another word, he shot into the air.

"I can't wait—I'm going now to beat them up!!"

"GOOD!!!" Momousagi called out sharply, stopping him mid-air. "Do you even know where it is? Are you seriously going to charge off without knowing the location!?"

She was so exasperated she forgot to use honorifics and just shouted his name.

Good froze mid-air, scratched his head awkwardly, and chuckled.

"Ah… Now that you mention it, I guess I really don't."

Momousagi was speechless.

Can you please act like a proper Admiral just once… Good?

Now she truly understood why his nickname was Reckless Maniac Admiral. He really was a brainless maniac…
