Chapter 54 - Chapter 54 : Battle of Wits!!

"Covenant ship!? How is that possible!"

"Keep your voice down." Yujin rolled his eyes at Zhang Jie. "Hopefully after surviving a few more horror movies, your personality will calm down."

Zhang Jie was emotional. "How can I stay calm? Before we left the Covenant Ship, didn't you see Meng Yao trying to fix the bioweapon David? She's definitely using the colonists to incubate Xenomorph! After all this time, could there even be any survivors?"

"As expected of you, Zhang Jie. You've thought of that too." Yujin said with admiration before continuing, "First, I don't believe Meng Yao wouldn't leave herself an escape route. She values her life too much."

"Second, six thousand colonists. Even if they just stay put, incubating Facehuggers would take a few days, right? The Lord God has already sent a Devil Team with members at the Golden Core stage to capture us. Are you telling me it wouldn't leave us poor fools a single chance to survive?"

"I just don't buy it."

As a traveler across worlds, Yujin had his own understanding of the Lord God—the glowing orb.

Everything it did, frankly, was meant to force people to unlock their genetic locks and advance to the fourth stage.

"Third… never mind, you wouldn't understand."

"I don't understand? Then how do we get six thousand colonists to leave this planet?"

As he spoke, Yujin activated his genetic lock!

His mind raced, and a spark of intelligence flashed in his eyes. He spoke two words:

"Cooperation!"

"Cooperation?" Zhang Jie laughed as if hearing the world's biggest joke. "Who would cooperate with us?"

"Everyone."

Zhang Jie wanted to ask more, but Yujin waved him off and stepped aside.

He didn't bother explaining and instead pressed the intercom button that Da Qiang had issued earlier.

"No matter what you're doing right now, stop incubating the Xenomorph first."

It took a long time before the intercom crackled to life. The voice on the other side was urgent. "Why?"

"I stole the Devil Team's ship. Right now there are 1,300 colonist spots vacant. No matter what escape plans you had before, I think this one is much safer."

After another long pause, Meng Yao replied, "What's your name?"

"Does it matter? I'm Duke."

Meng Yao who had been struggling and evading was overjoyed!

She had been waiting for this moment for so long!

Finally, she got a true strategist!

Suspended in midair, Fuming's eyes were sharp, his heart filled with rage.

Facing me in a duel, and still daring to be distracted?

He waved his massive hand.

"Puchi!"

A golden light struck Meng Yao's shoulder. Her body sank slightly, and blood suddenly gushed from her shoulder!

The blood spurted over half a meter high, an astonishing amount.

Even Fuming felt uneasy watching it.

He could only attribute this strange occurrence to the parasitic beast's enhancement.

Meng Yao clutched her shoulder and continued running, her voice urgent. "How are we going to send these colonists to you?"

"No need to send them. We'll leave on two spaceships."

"You're dreaming!"

Yujin chuckled. "Tell that cultivator in front of him that he only has two paths."

"I'll pilot their ships and escape. Even if he kills every single Central Continent team member on the ground, he can't kill me."

"As long as the team battle doesn't end and the colonization mission isn't complete, he'll waste his time here!"

"So what if he's at the Golden Core stage? Can he play hide-and-seek with me in the universe?"

Meng Yao took a long moment before replying, "Two of their team members are already dead."

Her words implied there could be no turning back now.

Hearing that Meng Yao had fallen for his bluff, Yujin hurriedly added, "There's a way to make up for it!"

He glanced at the screens lighting up on the control panel. "Once the Covenant ship fills the gap of 1,300 colonists, the rest can serve as Xenomorph hosts, waiting to hatch!"

"This is what's set before the Devil Team…"

"Those are hundreds, even thousands of Xenomorph reward points!"

Mengyao immediately smiled, though inwardly she cursed. What a reckless brat.

Did he even know how the Lord God would punish such shameless reward points farming?

Still, Mengyao raised her concern. "That guy is arrogant. Even if it causes trouble for him, he might not cooperate with you."

Yujin glanced at Daniels and quietly walked down the corridor. "Don't forget, Daniels is still with me! If worst comes to worst, we go all out! I've got nothing to lose anyway!"

"But—"

Yujin's tone shifted.

"You mentioned earlier that a horror movie gives a base reward of 1,000 points after it ends. In this one, the extra reward is one hundred points for every crew member who survives, and minus one hundred for each death."

"Negative points are wiped clean."

"So, I'm negotiating with you too! As a veteran, you have to take responsibility for the gaps left by all of us newcomers!"

"Ha ha ha ha." Mengyao swore this was the funniest joke she had ever heard in her life.

Her giving reward points to newcomers?

Might as well be the sun rising from the west.

"Don't laugh yet."

Yujin interrupted her, "The barefoot needn't fear the shoe. From the moment I arrived in this world, I've considered myself dead. At worst, I can enter the spaceship and activate a freezing mode—maybe even sleep for thirty years."

"And you? How long can you last in front of the Devil Team's strongest?"

"All right, all right, all right."

Mengyao said it three times, surprisingly calm. In fact, her voice was gentle. "You make a good point. Let's do it your way."

She activated her gene lock, forcibly blocking Fuming's flying sword, and shouted into the air, "Wait!"

Then she quickly explained Yujin's position and the stakes involved.

In the sky, Fuming stared coldly at Mengyao. "Woman from the Farming Team, do you think you can force me to let you go just like that?"

Mengyao's momentum didn't falter. "You won't kill me that easily. I have ways to make you pay a heavy price before you even get the chance!"

Fuming hadn't expected to encounter such a tough opponent and hesitated for a moment.

On the other side, Dio Brooke quickly tried to dissuade him. "Captain! What she's saying isn't entirely without reason!"

He spoke while giving Fuming a knowing glance, clearly hiding some thoughts of his own.

"Hmph."

Snorting coldly, Fuming shot toward Dio Brooke.

Day and night passed.

The survivors on the Engineer Planet were busy with their own tasks.

Clearing the Xenomorph from the Covenant Ship was no easy feat.

Luckily, there was Da Qiang, a living tank of a man, who drew in a massive wave of Xenomorph. Riding his Green Devil skateboard, he lured away ninety percent of them.

The few remaining ones were mercilessly slaughtered by Meng Yao, turning them all into reward points.

Moving around the ship was difficult.

Many areas were flooded with blood, the stench so strong it made the air unbearable.

It was the blood of thousands of colonists.

Thankfully, Meng Yao had sealed the relevant doors and revoked Biomech David's access to them.

In the cryo chambers, 4,500 colonists still remained.

The rookie survivors of the Central Continent team, under Dio Brooke's supervision, were busy clearing Xenomorph embryos from their bodies.

When Dio Brooke saw through the X-ray that some of these embryos couldn't be removed via normal surgery—clinging to their airways like explosive capsules that would detonate on touch—he narrowed his eyes, thinking to himself:

Dealing with the Farming Team couldn't be approached with common sense.

The rookies who had barely survived were now truly facing the terror of the Lord God Space. The eyes of everyone present were ashen, utterly devoid of life, and filled with hopelessness for the future.

They had fought through a real-life horror film, and in the end, survival depended on the reward points of the "good" veterans.

Even if they returned to the Lord God Space penniless, what use would it be?

Without reward points to strengthen themselves, weren't they still just ordinary people?

Dio Brooke contacted Fuming: "Captain, I've finished handling my side."

On the other end, Fuming faced off against Meng Yao. Neither trusted the other fully.

But trapped in the situation, they had no choice but to act cautiously for now.

Meng Yao looked up. "Tell your people to get off the Covenant Ship! Then this horror film can wait for the next return window!"

The sword beneath Fuming's feet trembled. "Oh? And what if you run away?"

"Hehehe!" Meng Yao laughed out loud. "Don't you understand that I am the captain of the Farming Team? Would I sacrifice myself for nothing? Don't worry, I've arranged everything. There are explosives inside them, and they will act according to my instructions. This cycle will end sooner rather than later."

"Besides, my strategist and I will stay here, waiting for our return."

"If it doesn't work, then we fight!"

Fuming didn't say anything, but Meng Yao knew that meant he agreed.

Dio Brook arrived quickly, riding his green demon skateboard.

It didn't take long before a small transport vehicle approached from the distance.

Zhang Jie was driving.

Yujin sat in the passenger seat.

Seeing them, Fuming nodded.

Zhang Jie honked twice, let Yujin off, and waved goodbye.

Time passed, second by second.

In the distance, the "Covenant" vessel carrying the remnants of the Central Continent team rose into the sky, slowly disappearing into the clouds.

Fuming chased them on his sword but couldn't catch up. The deal was half complete.

At that moment, the walkie-talkers in Dio Brook's arms and Meng Yao's hands suddenly crackled to life.

"Hey, Devil Team," a voice said. "The terms of the deal have changed, but don't rush. Listen to me."

"As long as you kill our captain, I will complete the mission on time and return to the Lord God Space as scheduled."

Meng Yao's face changed dramatically when she heard this.

She looked at Yujin, delivered here by Zhang Jie, and realized he didn't have a walkie-talker in his hands.

Where was that voice coming from?!

Pre-recorded?

Are they insane?

Before Meng Yao could process it, Yujin's body suddenly exploded into a puff of white smoke and vanished!

"This…!"

Meng Yao was stunned, as if she had seen a ghost.

Beside her, Fuming looked equally shocked, as if silently saying:

'Doesn't this Farming Team captain even realize her team's members are enhanced in the direction of ninjas?'
