Chapter 1 - [Yes] or [No]

"Old man!"

The lady shouted at the old man, who was trapped by the Storm God and was moments away from losing consciousness.

The divine battlefield was fracturing beneath the clash of yellow and red aura waves that surged through the holy grounds of the Land of Eternal Spirit.

The Storm God stood tall, a monstrous being with multiple arms and a swirling grey and black aura surrounding him. In one of his hands, he held the sacred Sword of Storm.

The lady charged at the god with everything she had left. Most of her spirit energy had already been drained in the long and brutal battle. It was the fourteenth day since the last society of human civilization had fought to claim the Storm God's sacred weapon.

But all that suffering had only carved the path to their own downfall. From hundreds, only two remained, the lady and the old man.

"My power! Descend the Heaven!"

The lady unleashed her final attack, shouting with everything she had. A divine light burst from the sky and struck down upon the Storm God. His grip on the old man's body weakened, and the old man dropped to the ground. But somehow, he managed to stand again.

"We can wi—" Just as the lady began to believe they could win, the divine surge of the Sword of Storm pierced straight through her heart. She went silent, frozen in shock.

"H-how...?"

Her gaze fell on the old man. He stood there, watching her die, with not a trace of worry or guilt on his face. He was calm. Even now, knowing all of this was the consequence of his reckless commands on the battlefield and his unshakable pride.

He looked like a man who had already accepted defeat, yet remained standing only because no one had done enough to bring him down.

The lady collapsed onto the ground, her eyes turning blank. Moments later, she died. Now, the only human left in the mortal world was the old man.

The Storm God turned his gaze to him. Slowly, he raised his hand, and energy began to swirl and gather around the Sword of Storm. The old man stared back in silence, measuring every breath, calculating each second he had left to live.

As the last remaining human, a man who could not bring his people back and could not even stand for them. I hereby resign from my post as the leader of human civilization's final society, which has already fallen.

FIZZZ!

The energy from the Sword of Storm blasted toward the old man, ready to demolish his entire body before he could even blink.

But just before death could reach him, everything stopped. The swirling yellow and grey energy froze in place, suspended right in front of him. He could feel the searing heat against his skin, yet his body remained untouched. He stood motionless, overwhelmed by confusion.

What happened?

He narrowed his eyes and slowly raised his hand to touch the halted surge of divine power.

Suddenly, a glowing window appeared before him. Instinctively, he pulled his hand back.

[Do you want a second chance?]

  [Yes]    [No]

The man, who had already lost all hope in life, believed this was just one final mockery from the gods. A cruel joke at the end of his failure.

But even so, he chose to click [Yes].

Multiple windows popped up in front of him, and before he could even blink, the world around him changed.

He now stood in a void, an utterly empty space where even gods could not reach.

But that too vanished in an instant. The next moment, he found himself standing on open green plains. The sun shone brightly above, the breeze was warm, and the peace in the air clashed violently with the chaos he had just escaped. Everything that had just happened only deepened his confusion.

What is happening? Isn't this just another cruel mockery from the gods? Why are they making me witness all of this?

Then, another window appeared before him:
