Chapter 2 - The Vice-Admiral and the Baby

P.O.V. Garp

"Bwahahahaha! They don't make pirates like they used to! I didn't even get to throw my cannonballs, and those idiots are already running away with their tails between their legs!"

Some Marines just sighed with bitter smiles. Only Vice Admiral Garp could say something like that after coming across part of Emperor Kaido of the Beasts' fleet in the waters of the New World.

Garp had been on a Marine mission when he got a call from a Transponder Snail saying his grandson was about to be born. Deciding the mission wasn't supposed to deal with major pirate crews, he left one of the rear admirals in charge and set sail right away.

On his way back to the East Blue, he came across some ships flying the jolly roger of the Beast Pirates and decided to confront them. If things went south, he'd just let old Sengoku handle the mess—that's what friends are for! After all, he had more important things on his mind: his dear grandson was about to be born.

To Garp's disappointment (and his crew's relief), the pirates fled before he even started his attack. Annoyed, he simply jumped aboard the ship that had been attacked and came across a sight that made his blood boil: it was a civilian ship, probably trying to escape from Wano, which had recently fallen under Kaido's rule and his crew of lunatics.

The passengers were dead, the ship nearly wrecked. Garp could only sigh, regretting not having arrived earlier. The Marines had been ordered by the World Government not to interfere in Wano. Garp understood it was because Wano refused to join the government. To him, the country's fate was the same—only the master holding the leash had changed.

Just as he was about to head back to his ship, his Observation Haki detected a small but unusual presence. Without hesitation, he turned around, stepped into the cabin, and found a treasure chest. The presence was coming from inside.

"What the hell is this? Is someone alive in there?" Garp muttered as he approached.

The chest didn't look old; it was average-sized and didn't seem suspicious at first. But when Garp opened it, he was completely stunned.

"A baby?! An Oni baby?!" Garp stood speechless. He wasn't some rookie sailor surprised by everything, but finding a child inside a chest was one of the craziest things that had happened to him—and he'd been the rival of Gol D. Roger, which by itself guaranteed a spot in the hall of insanity. Roger had been completely insane.

The baby was asleep. His pale skin highlighted the small black horns on his forehead, and his white hair gave him an otherworldly look—something that became even stranger when the baby opened his eyes, revealing a shade of purple Garp had never seen before.

"Well, aren't you a cute little thing? Who left you here?" Garp asked softly, picking the baby up.

The baby lazily blinked and smiled, reaching for Garp's beard. The vice admiral chuckled, turned, and walked back to his ship. There was nothing else in the chest or the cabin—suspicious, yes, but there was nothing more he could do.

Back on the Marine ship, tension ran high. The vice admiral had jumped aboard a ship attacked by pirates, and the life signal with him was small—something that felt "new" to the world. Then they saw Garp leaping back aboard, holding a baby with horns.

Bogard resisted the urge to groan. After years under Garp's command, he'd developed a sixth sense for the kind of trouble his superior could bring back—and right now, every internal alarm was blaring.

The other crew members exchanged glances, and Bogard could see the worry on their faces. Avoiding a sigh, he simply adjusted his gray hat and the Marine coat over his shoulders, then saluted the vice admiral, raising an eyebrow at the baby in Garp's arms. Garp just laughed heartily, saying it was a magical day because he'd gotten himself another grandson.

Bogard had never felt so much sympathy for Sengoku.

"Let's go home! My other grandson is about to be born, and I plan to train them both to be the greatest Marines in the world!" Garp tickled the baby's belly, making him giggle and squirm.

"Well, you heard the Vice Admiral!" Bogard called to the crew. Whatever trouble this would cause later would probably land on Sengoku's desk anyway.

P.O.V. Kaido and Kurozumi Orochi

"You promised me I'd marry the Oni princess! Are you going back on your word, Kaido?!" Orochi shouted.

Kaido looked at the little man with nothing but disgust and replied coldly, "I promised to send my men after your princess. I never promised to bring her back, you worm! Besides, she died taking down half the crew I sent, including a future All-Star! So shut your mouth before I kill you myself!" The Emperor roared, gripping his kanabo so tightly that Orochi trembled in fear.

"I-I-I…" Orochi stammered but didn't finish his sentence, running off pale-faced.

"Tsk… pathetic pest," the Emperor muttered, taking a swig of sake. He looked at King, his right-hand man, and asked what had happened.

"Garp was nearby. Probably wanted to let off some steam and attacked what was left of our men. The girl died, taking Bishop and several others with her. According to the survivors, no one else remained on the ship."

"Humph, forget it…" Kaido went back to drinking. Picking a fight with the Marines now wasn't worth it while he was still consolidating power in the region.

King glanced in the direction Orochi had fled and sighed. He didn't understand why Kaido kept such a coward around, but everyone had a use. And if that use ran out, replacing him wouldn't be hard.

P.O.V. Garp

Garp could already see Foosha Village on the horizon. He loved that place for many reasons and had chosen to raise his grandsons there, away from the prying eyes of other Marines. Thinking about his grandsons, he looked at the baby in the cradle beside him and silently prayed that at least this one wouldn't cause too much trouble in the future—because he was certain the other two would.

His eldest grandson was actually the son of his great rival, Gol D. Roger—or as the World Government insisted on calling him, Gold Roger. Little Ace had been entrusted to him by the Pirate King himself. To avoid drawing attention from enemies or the Marines, Garp had left the boy with Dadan, an old acquaintance who lived on Mt. Colubo, near the village.

His other grandson, who was about to be born, truly was his blood grandson: the child of his own son, Monkey D. Dragon, who had left the Marines and turned against the World Government and the Celestial Dragons. Garp could understand the anger toward those fools, but he wished his son had stayed in the Marines, trying to change things from within alongside him and Sengoku.

"Hmph, you'd better grow up strong and healthy, little one. Being a Marine is in our blood," Garp said quietly, watching the baby yawn, close his eyes, and fall asleep.

Garp smiled and turned his gaze back to the horizon.

P.O.V. ????

'Jesus Christ, I really reincarnated into the world of One Piece… and Garp adopted me! Guess that wasn't a nightmare, but my mother...' thought the tiny baby before drifting off. Being stuck in a baby's body with an adult mind wasn't exactly the most comfortable experience.
