Chapter 9 - A Deal for Revenge

After school, Dean walked out of his classroom and down the corridor. Ahead of him was a student with thick glasses, short, and lots of acne on his face.

He was being led away by a big guy with a buzz cut, earrings, and a messy uniform, along with three other guys just like him.

The nerdy student's face looked scared, even though he forced a smile.

"Getting bullied, huh?" Dean muttered.

[Looks like it. Why don't you offer our services?]

"Nice, more money," Dean replied.

Casually, Dean followed the group of bullies as they took the nerdy student to a quiet spot behind the school. Dean peeked from the side of the building.

"Where's your money? You haven't paid me today," said the bully with the buzz cut and earrings.

"S-sorry, I don't have any money right now. I just paid my tuition," the nerdy student replied.

"Excuses!"

"SLAP!" A large hand landed on the nerdy student's face, knocking his glasses off. He immediately crouched down to find his glasses. Then the earring-wearing bully nodded to his friends. Immediately, "BAM!" "THUD!" "WHACK!" The bullies kicked the helpless nerdy student who was looking for his glasses until he knelt, covering his head.

Dean calmly walked towards them as they were busy kicking the helpless student. Dean raised his finger.

"Brain control."

A black lightning bolt seemed to strike the bullies from Dean's finger. The bullies immediately stopped moving, but their eyes could still dart left and right. Their faces looked terrified, and they wanted to speak, but their mouths were stiff.

The nerdy student was confused because the bullies' kicks stopped. He turned to see the bullies next to him looking like trembling statues with eyes darting left and right.

"Tap." The nerdy student turned to see Dean crouching in front of him.

"Hey, are you in 10th grade?" Dean asked.

"Y-yes, senior. Wh-what's wrong with them?" the nerdy student asked.

"Oh, I used my brain control skill and turned off their movement function in their brains. Don't worry about it," Dean said casually.

"Wh-who are you, senior?" the nerdy student asked.

"My name's Dean, 12th grade, class 2. What about you?" Dean asked.

"Jimmy Harrison, 10th grade, class 1," Jimmy replied.

"Alright, Jimmy, do you want revenge on them?" Dean asked.

"Revenge? What do you mean?" Jimmy asked.

"Yeah, revenge. So they can't bully you anymore. We just kill them, but before that, they have to feel what you felt because of them. That's called revenge, isn't it?" Dean said.

"Ki-kill?" Jimmy asked.

"Yeah, quickly, do you want to?" Dean asked.

"I do, but how?" Jimmy asked.

"Alright, next question: do you want me to do it right now and finish it, but you pay? Or do it yourself and take the risk? Don't worry, I'll teach you how. Which do you choose?" Dean asked.

"Pay? How much do I pay?" Jimmy asked.

"Hmm, basically the price of your soul. If you don't have money, I'll have to take your soul," Dean replied.

"M-my soul? Does that mean I'll die, senior?" Jimmy asked.

"Yes, but if you have money, then I'll ask to be paid with money," Dean replied.

"Oh... I see. How much?" Jimmy asked.

"Hold on," Dean said.

[Hmm... his soul is worth $220,000.]

"Pay $220,000 or your soul, that's it," Dean said.

"Wow, that's really expensive. Can I ask my dad first?" Jimmy asked, stalling for time while glancing at the terrified bullies.

"Hmm, yeah, go ahead. If you're okay with it, I'll do it. I guarantee you won't see them again tomorrow," Dean said, glancing at the bullies with a cynical smile.

With trembling hands, Jimmy pulled out his smartphone and called his dad, but a moment later, Jimmy was heard getting yelled at by his dad. The call ended. Jimmy turned to Dean with a pale face.

"No, senior, never mind, I don't wanted revenge anymore," Jimmy said.

"Hmm, really? Are you sure? They'll keep bullying you, you know?" Dean asked.

"Yes, I'm sure. Besides, it would be a shame if they were killed," Jimmy replied, glancing at the still-stiff bullies.

"Alright then, bye. (He stood up and looked at the bullies) You guys are lucky. Alright, you can continue now," Dean said, looking at them and smiling.

"Click!" Dean snapped his fingers and turned, then walked away. The bullies immediately started moving again, but they looked scared and trembled.

"Ji-Jimmy, who was that just now?" asked the earring-wearing bully.

"I don't know. He's in 12th grade, but why can't I remember his name?" Jimmy asked.

"Yeah, I heard him say a name just now, but I can't remember at all. (Turning to his friends) Do you guys remember?" the earring-wearing bully asked.

"No, boss, swear I don't remember," one of his friends replied.

The two other friends could only nod, their legs still trembling, holding onto the friend who just spoke. The earring-wearing bully immediately stared at Jimmy, startling him.

"Thanks, Jimmy, you saved me and my friends. I promise I won't bully you again. If anyone bullies you, tell me or just say Carter, my name. If they still cause trouble, I'll step in and beat them up," said Carter, the earring-wearing bully.

"Yeah, no problem. Thanks," Jimmy replied.

"That guy was really dangerous... his gaze wasn't human. He looked like he was used to killing people. Just a glance from him, gave me goosebumps," Carter said.

"Same here, I got goosebumps too. I had to call my dad to make it look real. I'm still shaking now," Jimmy said.

"He just casually said the price of a soul was only $250,000. That guy's a real psychopath. Do you remember his class?" Carter asked.

"No, I just remember he's in 12th grade. Seriously scary. Can someone like that even be in our school?" Jimmy said.

"Dunno... I just found out myself someone like that exist in our school. Alright, let's go back. Where do you want to go? Wanna hang out for a bit?" Carter asked.

"But I don't have any money," Jimmy replied.

"Don't worry, you still have your money from yesterday. I'll pay. Come on," Carter urged, putting his arm around Jimmy.

Carter walked with his arm around Jimmy, followed by his three friends, who were still shivering, as they left the school gate.

Meanwhile, as Dean was walking on the sidewalk, suddenly "ding!" his smartphone vibrated in his pocket. Dean paused, then reached into his pocket. He saw his smartphone; there was a notification from his app. He immediately opened it with a cheerful face.

"Wow, $6,000,000! This is really lucky," Dean said.

[Hohoho, she's like you, special.]

"What do you mean?" Dean thought in his head.

[She's also special, like you, and like I explained to you before.]

"Wait... but she's a ghost, right? How can a ghost be worth so much?" Dean asked.

[Just accept it first.]

"Okay, I get it," Dean replied.

Dean immediately pressed "Yes." The app's display changed to a map complete with a dot showing the client's location. Dean immediately turned to look at the tall, unfinished building that had been abandoned for years, located at the very end of the street.

"Come on, NS, let's go there," Dean thought in his head.

[Okay, let's go.]
