Chapter 6 - Tsunade's Selfishness

Toki's puzzled voice echoed in the classroom.

"Hmm… I understand the theory, but why do Ninja need to master the calculation method for a Kunai's trajectory?"

Transmigrating into a world with supernatural powers, I thought what awaited me was "fighting, awesome!"

But when I opened the textbook, it contained nothing but "mathematics and physics" scrawled crookedly on every page. I couldn't sleep, no matter how I lay, so I carefully read it for a whole night, and only then did I deduce the conclusion from between the lines: You transmigrated, but did you really transmigrate?

"It's indeed meaningless for a Kunai thrown by a Ninja, but this knowledge point is used in conjunction with another course."

With that, Rin Nohara took out a textbook titled "Traps and Mechanisms" and continued to explain.

"Most traps use poisoned Kunai as their lethal weapons. Setting, disarming, and evading them all require prior calculation of the approximate path of the Kunai after it's fired from the mechanism. Not every Ninja possesses sufficient adaptability; prevention is the best solution…"

"After mastering these abilities, they will be remarkably effective against the puppets of Hidden Sand Village."

Toki nodded thoughtfully, then asked, "Wait, what is Hidden Sand Village? And what are puppets?"

Rin Nohara pondered for a moment, a troubled expression on her face: "It seems the most urgent remedial lesson is common knowledge of the Ninja World, not the information in the textbooks."

"You've gone to a lot of trouble for me, I apologize." Toki scratched the back of his head, feeling a bit embarrassed.

Rin Nohara shook her head, her voice as gentle as ever: "It's not your fault."

Blame the war.

This was the unspoken half-sentence. She had only thought of helping Toki with his remedial lessons because of what happened that morning, and now she certainly couldn't reopen that wound.

Rin Nohara continued to tutor Toki, explaining topics such as the characteristics of the Five Great Nations and Five Great Ninja Villages, the elemental weaknesses of the Five Basic Ninjutsu, and Bloodline Limits.

He merely lacked some common sense; he wasn't stupid. Essentially, he was still an adult who had already turned eighteen before transmigrating, so Rin Nohara found teaching him quite easy.

After school, at the school gate.

"Anyway, thank you all for today. I'll find a suitable opportunity to treat you to a meal."

Toki bid farewell to Kakashi and the others, then turned to go home.

However, he hadn't walked far when he accidentally saw a green figure "sprinting past," literally sprinting, as two legs were flailing in the air.

Toki couldn't help but call out to him: "Might Guy, is there some profound meaning to you walking on your hands like that?"

Might Guy stopped, propped himself up with his hands, and with a beautiful backflip, landed in front of Toki.

"My dear friend! Walking on your hands can strengthen your arm muscles. Do you want to train with me?"

Toki's mouth twitched: "No, thank you. I've never done physical training before. If I start with such high-intensity training like yours, my body won't be able to handle it."

"That makes sense, but I can also devise a training plan for you." Might Guy didn't insist, but he really wanted to help his dear friend.

Toki thought for a moment, but still politely declined: "I'll just follow my teacher's arrangements."

"Oh… that's fine too!"

Might Guy was a bit dejected, but it only lasted for less than a second before he was full of vitality again, resuming his handstand position.

"Toki, see you tomorrow."

"Yes, see you tomorrow." Toki watched him leave.

Upon returning to the Senju residence, before even entering the door, he smelled a strong herbal scent. Had Tsunade teacher moved the entire herb garden back?

A pot was set up in the front yard, and Tsunade sat beside it on a small stool, stirring and boiling herbs with a wooden spoon.

Seeing Toki return home from school, she immediately called out, "Toki, come here and drink this."

Toki took the bowl, which contained about half a bowl of brown liquid. The smell of traditional Chinese medicine drilled into his nose and went straight to his brain, powerfully and unobstructed.

He pinched his nose and chugged it down in one go. The bitter taste lingered at the back of his tongue, unending: "What is this?"

"A powerful tonic, but you can only drink half a bowl a day; any more and you won't be able to handle it."

"What about the one in the pot?"

"That's for your bath tonight. Go find Kushina now for physical training, so the tonic you just drank can take effect quickly."

"Understood!" Toki quickly went inside to pour himself water, drinking three large cups in a row to wash away the bitter taste in his mouth.

Then he walked to Kushina's door and gently knocked.

"Coming."

In a moment, Kushina emerged fully dressed: "Let's go, let's go! We're heading to the training ground."

Kushina's training regimen was quite simple, mainly running, jumping, squatting… These training methods could quickly activate cardiovascular function and strengthen the thigh muscle groups.

The thigh muscle group is the largest muscle group in the human body. To achieve sustained endurance without tiring, the best method is to train the legs.

Under Kushina's strict supervision, Toki had almost no chance to slack off. Even when he was completely unable to run anymore, she would drag Toki and force him to keep running.

In the end, Toki was carried back by Kushina; he no longer had the strength to even move a finger.

Every word, every sentence, every detail, all in one go!

The courtyard was empty. The medicinal liquid in the pot was almost at the bottom, bubbling and then bursting under the heat of the flame.

"We're home." Kushina spoke, but didn't receive the expected response.

She looked back and saw that Toki had fallen asleep on her back, his head buried in her neck, his breathing even and long.

He was so exhausted; he probably wouldn't wake up for a while.

Kushina sighed softly, but rather than helplessness, it was more like affection.

Tsunade came out of the house with some herbs, and seeing the two, immediately said, "The medicinal bath is ready. Kushina, please help put Toki in."

She nodded and headed towards the bathroom.

Just then, Tsunade's voice came from behind.

"Oh, and remember to take off his clothes. All of them."

"Huh?" Kushina stopped in her tracks, her long hair falling to cover her flushed cheeks.

She instinctively wanted to hand this task over to Tsunade, but when she looked back, she saw Tsunade completely focused on boiling the herbs, so she definitely couldn't leave.

"What about Mito Grandma?"

Tsunade replied without lifting her head: "Mito Grandma has been very busy these past few days, working with the Hokage to investigate spies in the Village. They've already caught quite a few spies from Hidden Cloud Village."

"Then… then alright."

Kushina seemed to have made some kind of decision, walking step by step towards the bathroom.

And she didn't even notice that behind her, Tsunade's lips were curved in a strange smile. After she left, that smile became even more undisguised.

In her previous life, Hidden Cloud Village orchestrated a kidnapping, successfully finding a weak point in Konoha's defenses and abducting Kushina from her home.

Fortunately, Toki hadn't gone to school that day and found traces left by Kushina at home. After sending a signal to notify the Village, he immediately followed the traces.

After finding Kushina, Toki, in order to buy time for the Village's reinforcements, fought with his life on the line, resulting in one enemy dead and one injured. By the time Tsunade arrived, Toki was half-dead and almost met the Six Paths Sage; she barely managed to save him.

Although a bit messy, Kushina also fell for Toki because of this heroic rescue.

However, in this life, there would be no such opportunity. Tsunade could only try her best to bring the two together more often.

"Oh dear—I'm truly worried sick."
