Yanagi remained outwardly calm, weaving through gaps in the formation with her naginata.
Her pace was steady, about one meter per second.
Beneath her glasses, her expression was grave, carefully examining every data-form she passed, occasionally shaking her head.
[Null_Face] felt his heart leap into his throat. Even knowing all the forms were identical, he couldn't help but be intimidated by the officer's gaze.
Ten seconds passed as Yanagi moved from the front to the back of the formation, seemingly finding nothing.
She shook her head lightly and sighed, "This is going to be troublesome. The data-forms are identical and have no heartbeat. We'll have to find them one by one."
"…"
[Null_Face] exhaled in relief. He had almost panicked when Yanagi walked past him on two sides just moments ago, thinking she might discover him.
But it seemed the Deputy Chief of Hollow Special Operations Section 6 wasn't as hard to deal with as he had imagined.
At least the woman with glasses didn't possess some sort of supernatural sight; she didn't immediately see through the illusion.
"Found you!"
Yanagi suddenly shouted, a sharp killing intent emanating from her.
She swung her arm forcefully, sending her long naginata flying like a spear.
The VR system's physics engine was incredible; the whistling of the naginata cutting through the air was perfectly replicated.
"What! How is this possible!"
[Null_Face] froze in shock, instinctively stepping back.
She hadn't noticed him when walking nearby, so why did she spot him from a distance?
Whoosh!
The naginata sliced past [Null_Face] two meters away, flying outward.
"Now, I've really found you!"
A smile curved on Yanagi's lips as she propelled herself with her long legs, dashing like an arrow toward the real special data-form.
Boom!
The special data-form [Null_Face] had inhabited was slammed to the ground.
He roared in fury, "You cheated!"
Now he understood—the previous moments had all been a ruse.
Of course! How could she have missed him up close, only to spot him from afar?
This Deputy Chief of Hollow Special Operations Section 6 was craftier than a fox!
Yanagi's high-heeled boot pressed into the special data-form's back, almost crushing it through with a single stomp. She demanded sharply, "Tell me, how do we get out of here?"
[Null_Face] was, after all, only a skilled hacker and Proxy, not a trained agent. His psychological fortitude was lacking.
A little intimidation went a long way.
Feeling the special data-form get crushed beneath her, he cursed, "You woman, you're brutal! Damn brutal!"
It was just a special data-form, but it was a fully realistic construct. Every physical parameter matched reality.
A stomp through the back into the chest—this level of ruthlessness hardly seemed human!
That special data-form was now effectively dead.
"You'll tell me how to leave here!"
Yanagi's brows furrowed as she spoke coldly.
If she wasn't merciless toward [Null_Face], who would show mercy to their trapped team?
The special data-form suddenly exploded into shards of golden light.
[Null_Face] laughed maniacally, his voice echoing: "Leave? You can't leave! Stay in this virtual world until you experience brain death!"
He was being honest—he was sweating a little.
These people reacted too fast.
Merely trapping them with disguises was unlikely to succeed. He could turn Miyabi, Soukaku, and Harumasa into Bangboos, but he had no power to touch Yanagi.
That woman hadn't worn the modified emblem on her chest—probably because of her ridiculous chest shape.
She was clever and strong; with her around, it would be nearly impossible to trap Hollow Special Operations Section 6.
This failure was ridiculous.
He would need to analyze the Void Hunter data and deploy the Void Hunter data-form.
With that, he could turn the rest into harmless Bangboos. Even Yanagi wouldn't be able to handle the Void Hunter data-form.
Meanwhile, as the special data-form vanished, the entire battle environment dissipated in golden light.
Yanagi returned to the virtual HIA Club in the VR system, with Miyabi, Soukaku, and Harumasa appearing simultaneously.
"Yanagi, you're so fast!"
Soukaku clutched Yanagi's thigh, rubbing affectionately.
She, Miyabi, and Harumasa hadn't lasted long, yet Yanagi had already finished.
"Just luck,"
Yanagi patted Soukaku's head with a smile.
"Looks like our assumptions were correct."
Miyabi nodded to Yanagi calmly. "As long as we keep fighting and defeat all the special data-forms, we can get out."
"Mm." Harumasa stretched and grinned optimistically. "One special data-form down already, that was pretty easy. The remaining two should be simple!"
"Then let's quickly take out the other two!"
Soukaku rubbed her stomach, feeling odd. "I'm not hungry at all here… it feels weird…"
"If you're not hungry, the treasures we consume are practically forgotten."
She thought of her deceased sister, feeling a bit down.
"Swift and decisive."
Yanagi patted Soukaku's head, resolute.
"Swift and decisive!"
Miyabi and Harumasa nodded in unison.
The four of them approached the VR system in the virtual reality again, determined to prevent any tragedy.
